Johnny Depp never did it for me. I like a few of his performances, but don't find him at all charismatic.

I could never stand Tom Cruise,and he was exactly my type. He just never had any real charisma. I couldnt stand John Travolta either (though I did love Saturday night fever) .

I honestly think that Kevin Spacey was beautiful. Those eloquent black eyes did it for me

I always found Brad's blond locks laughably fake: he was like some himbo equivalent of the Landers sisters. Or Fabio, who at least kept his equally silly hair clean and brushed.

But at the height of his fame, no one ever thought to criticize him for his absurdly overbleached hair. Did America believe it was naturally highlighted by the sun or something?

Washington was also a terrible general . He didn’t win many battles, but was good at retreating. He mostly relied on wearing the British out. Plus he had the French Navy.

Johnny Depp. I found the whole charade of him being the new face of "oddball" actors and "outcasts" of Hollywood quite frankly irritating and trite. And seeing how that's played out in the last thirty years of his career really just shows what a farce of an arse he truly was and is. There was nothing deep or poetic about him or his acting.

President Herbert Hoover gets a raw deal. He was President at the beginning of the Great Depression and is sometimes blamed for it. He was a great humanitarian. And he was President at a time when the Presidency was weak and not expected to interfere with the economy, too much.

Marlon Brando. Painfully overrated.

Not only am I sick of most of the elder leading men from 70s films and their lazy, phoned in performances in recent decades (Nicholson, Pacino, DeNiro, etc.)....

I find a lot of their earlier, much-acclaimed performances hammy, tired, over-the-top, and cliched. Even in some outstanding films of that era.

None of them ever did much for me physically, either. Pacino had a youthful handsomeness and DeNiro (oh-so-briefly) had a kind of sexual magnetism, but I always found Nicholson oily and creepy.

Barack Obama: less than zero.

I think Henry Cavill is very average looking these days.

Robert De Niro is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most criminally overrated ham of an actor in the history of ever.

Same for Steven Spielberg as a director.

Another one who thinks Depp is, and always was, incredibly overrated. For some reason, he became the critics' darling who would practically fellate him for any piece of crap he released. At one point, Depp could have compiled clips of him taking huge, smelly dumps on the can and the critics would have raved.

There's something over-the-top creepy about Henry Cavill to me, so I don't get the swooning.

Timothee Chalamet is icky

A number of obvious, showy actors become critical darlings: Brando, Depp, Daniel Day Lewis. Remember when Jim Carey was actually becoming a respected thespian?

There are so many wonderful lower-key actors who can modulate their performances that aren't equally noticed, mostly because they do their job so well.

Agree about Depp. I'm not sure if my opinion is unpopular or not, but I never got Rob Lowe (Raw Blow). His features were just too fine and pretty and he didn't register to me as being a hot hunk of manliness, even in his ingenue days. He's had a long career but never made it to A-list stardom because he is pretty charisma free and lacking in that certain something. He's OK in supporting roles now that he's old and seems to have a good sense of humor about himself though.

i remember one time, when i was working in la la land, having to drop a package off at this production company that was holding auditions and i saw a room of beautiful drop dead gorgeous blonde women with all incredible bodies! made pam anderson look like leftover dog food, and i thought "why aren't any of them stars?" it's not like pam anderson and her ilk are great actresses too!... saw many a time of dark haired and blond hair male actors in audition rooms that were literally so beautiful that it "hurt" to look at them. once again, i thought why are they "nobodies".. the so called hot male actors can't possibly be that much better actors them them?!..

i do think it's the changing aspect of what is considered handsome and beautiful and the thinking we want our actors and actresses who are NOT great actors, good looking but NOT TOO good looking so the audience can identify with them a little bit.. OF COURSE THIS WAS THE OPPOSITE mentality in the golden age of hollywood and the studio system until the studio system ended and everything was "more real and gritty" starting more or less in the 70's...

I think Pitt is very good looking but I never found him to pack a lot of heat, meaning he was boring to me and didnt register high on the sexual energy scale.. Ive not seen him in too many movies, but I will have to say he was incredibly good in his latest, once upon a time in hollywood

Jake Gyllenhaal looks like he has a chromosome or two, missing.

I don't think Matt and Ben are real friends, anymore at least. I think Damon is embarrassed of what Affleck has become and Ben knows it. I think that loss of respect and friendship is far harder on him than losing his wife and kids or the Batman role.

I don't believe Tom Cruise is gay. I know that objectively, he looks closeted - Catholic upbringing, first wife said he wasn't interested in sex, third marriage was a blatant publicity stunt. Plus, $cientology seems to attract celebrity closet cases, such as Travolta and the Pinkett-Smiths. But he just doesn't ping for me. It's odd. He gives off an asexual vibe to me (although I'm aware true asexuality is extremely rare).

I know I am probably the only one on this. But I can't stand Jon Hamm. Don't care if he is good looking. He is too overrated and annoying. I agree with Kathy Griffin. He thinks he is a comedian and he's not. How many bombs movies is this guy allowed?

The only movies I like Tom in is Mission Impossible movies. Anything else is terrible. I actually got up and walked out on The mummy. And a new Top Gun looks pathetic. He's trying so hard to stay a action hero. it's going to get to the point where it's just going to look sad.

I feel sad for Tom. I don't really buy that he's a sociopath. Early in his career he came across as a pretty shy and sensitive guy. Some of that is still alive in him. I still can't quite figure out at what point it all went wrong. I actually really like him (and I think he's not that deep in the closet - he drops hints very very often. He only comes across as truly crazy when he pretends he fancies a woman, see Oprah's couch, etc.)

I think Matthew McC is hotter now than when he was doing romcoms. Dallas Buyers Club thinned him and his face so much he has a different look now even though he got his hot body back. He is nude in Serenity (2019) and it's worth a watch just to see him topless in at least half the film and naked in some of it. I so would.

Robert Downey Jr. Not only is he a terrible actor but he deserves contempt fo reviving Goops career. If he hadn't had offered her the role of Pepper Potts in Iron Man she would have faded away as she rightfully should have.

James Franco is almost good-looking, but not quite. Without the curly dark hair he'd be average.

Ryan Philippe is objectively 'perfect', but bland-looking.

I never really 'got' Brad, but he's grown on me in recent years. One a sidenote, people always say he's dumb as a box of rocks, but that's not the impression I get from him. He often sounds stoned in interviews though.

Leonardo DiCaprio can still look good (like an older, fatter version of his Titanic self) with the right facial expression. But most of the time he looks like he just smelled his own fart now.

It's fine if you do - it's all a matter of taste - but someone who thinks Ryan Phillippe at age 20 was the epitome of good-looking is probably not going to like Sam Elliott or Sean Connery.

I think all the guys you mentioned are hot, or were, except Selleck. The thing is, I should like him. He's handsome, well-built without being overly muscled, and of course famously hairy-chested. He looks like a grown man. I like that. But there's something about TS that turned me off even in his Magnum PI days. The tenor voice didn't help, but that wasn't the only thing. He was too ... light, or something. He lacked gravitas or intensity or edge. Anyway, I could look at pictures of him and enjoy them, but in action he had all the sex appeal of overcooked pasta.
