They were like a bizarro ABBA from another dimension.
The woman was just set dressing apparently as they replaced her with no problem. The guys both were creepy looking.

She could sing but the two that followed were more set dressing than band members apparently especially the brunette the creepy white guy was apparently the brains behind it all but the other guy was the "star".

Curiously i watched a video of dance hits of the 90's this week.
I totally forgot them, but Crucify and Obsession were big hits in europe back in the day

Never heard of them, but I like the band name. The song is a no tho.

They were the most one hit wonders of all one hit wonders.
But "Crucified" was THE jam for a few months back in the day. If you wanted to see a room full of queens put their hands about their head, you got on the floor and waited for the chorus.

R5: No, Crucified and Obsession were big in Europe, so no one hit wonders at all.
The songs failed in the UK (it was quite common that big european hits didn't chart well on UK) and they never released a song in the USA

La Camilla (the original female member, in the video for "Crucified") actually had an affair with the King of Sweden.

Apparently they were quite popular in Russia in spite of being over the top flamboyant/gay

Crucified was released to the clubs, for sure.

Crucified was a major hit in Lansing, MI’s gay disco in 1995. The scene was as R5 relates.

R9: In a time where it was needed to be released to the radio to have a real hit.

I went to a small liberal arts college in Ohio and was a very closeted, confused, unhappy gay boy. My sophomore year, I roomed with an fantastic, openly gay guy and this was one of the songs that we blared on the boombox and danced around to. Great memories.

This is one of the other songs that me and Joel used to dance to in college.
OK, I'll stop now. Sorry to hijack your thread.

They were popular by name only dumbass.

The dark haired guy looks like actor-comic Taylor Negron.

Picture it: Pegasus, a subterranean bar in dark, dingy downtown Pittsburgh.
A sunken dancefloor filled suddenly with hundreds of twenty-something queens with thick thighs, Helen Terry haircuts and some sort of goth garb, waving their hands high during that relentless chorus.
Was I there? Honey, I led the chants.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 1, 2019 9:54 PM |
Of course, Crucified could be a gateway drug to some more goth-y dance tracks, or harder ones, anyway.

They have another song I really like called La Plage de Saint-Tropez but the video for it is bizarre with them murdering all the guests at a fancy ball as they sing.

They used to play "Crucified" at the college dances thrown by the LBGA (not "T" then) and it definitely made its way to America. They even got a mention in the "Newsmakers" section of "Newsweek" at the time.

Camila looks like Jameela Jamil.

Crucified was so sophisticated back in the day. Now it seems like shit.

They look cheesy in retrospect, but they were SO MUCH FUN, and they really encapsulated postmodernism in pop.
Their videos were sublimely over-the-top, and their lyrics were a riot too: I'm the person in charge of the aircraft / I'm the pilot, we're hit by a flash / When I tell you to fasten your seatbelt / Say a prayer, cause we're going to crash.

The video always looked like a French & Saunders parody.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 2, 2019 10:14 PM |
I always thought of them as Dead or Alive copycats.

I discovered them a while ago when Spotify recommended me "Israelism." I like them fine enough. However, the only song of theirs that I've been able to take seriously is "When the Night Is Cold," and even that features over-the-top theatrics and atrocious rhyming.
[quote] I never thought they could be serious With all this talk about a threat to us

I remember in an interview Camilla Henemark shared that she was once hired by a help organization to look like a poor little girl in need of food for one of their advertisements.

The video looks like it would be popular with pedos.
