Morning Joe just had the craziest discussion

To my surprise, Joe Scarborough was defending Rudy Giuliani, saying that he "felt sorry for Rudy" because people are letting him go on various news programs, rambling and confused, with no one "handling" him.

Joe then went on to say that Rudy used to be "America's Mayor," and he used to be held in high regard in NYC.

Then Donnie Deutsch countered that he was just "doing his job," and that Rudy exploited the goodwill from 9/11, and that a lot of New Yorkers feel that way.

Then Joe jumped on Donnie for saying that, and they got into a big argument!

It was confusing, because Joe Scarborough has been railing on Trump and Giuliani for months, and all of a sudden, he's defending Giuliani.

The most interesting part, however, was when Donnie Deutsch said (about Giuliani) "We've all heard the rumors..." and Joe then blurted out to the producers to "cut his mike."

WTF??? Anyone in the know? What in the hell was Donnie Deutsch talking about, and why is Joe Scarborough all of a sudden defending Giuliani?? Is Deutsch implying that Giuliani has dementia?

by Anonymousreply 75November 16, 2019 11:02 AM

Very interesting, OP. It seems like a combo of drinking accompanied by brain damage, dementia or something. Since he never shows regret, or lucid, intelligent thought, it doesn't seem to be alcohol alone to me. And how crazy that Bonespurs and crew have him working for them. So many of these old men in the administration seem to have gone mad over time. Here's a quote from his ex-wife, Judith, and some speculation in the linked story.

“For a variety of reasons that I know as a spouse and a nurse,” she seals it, “he has become a different man.”

“Nurse” feels like a clue, as does her repeated use of the word “enablers” to describe his posse. Rumors abound as to his drinking and he denied them.

It’s tricky. Even for the individual involved, it’s very hard to tell an alcoholic from a problem drinker from someone who’s simply going through a patch of overdoing it. There seems little doubt that Rudy has been known to overdo it. “I’ve seen him drink more in the past two years than I’d seen him drink in the past twenty,” a friend of Rudy’s told me — adding, however, that he’d put Rudy firmly in column three.

I decide to take the bait.

Last August, while hosting a barbecue with Judith here in the Hamptons, Rudy took a serious fall, necessitating an ambulance, surgery, and months of arduous therapy overseen by his wife whom, he told “Page Six,” he had taken to calling “Nurse Nancy.” I ask whether that fall involved alcohol. Judith declines to comment.

[quote]So many of these old men in the administration seem to have gone mad over time.

So true. Giuliani is #1 on that list along with Pompeo and Barr. It’s like some sorcery shit the way these guys get sucked into Trump’s orbit and lose their minds.

by Anonymousreply 4October 1, 2019 3:03 PM

R4, hasn’t he been hooking up Maples, Trump’s ONLY ex-wife to current wife, who aged well?

by Anonymousreply 5October 1, 2019 3:22 PM

Totally agree with Donnie. Rudy used 9/11 as an all purpose Pass for years off vileness. Trump will do the same thing before the election I guarantee. Americans are suckers for anyone who is a leader during “war”. Suddenly everyone will think of Trump as some great Commander in Chief - just like Rudy. Democracy sometimes sucks.

by Anonymousreply 6October 1, 2019 3:39 PM

Didn't Ghouliani have a fall in the shower a while back? I seem to remember him having a giant goose egg on his forehead, maybe that was around the time he was running for President.

by Anonymousreply 7October 1, 2019 3:51 PM

So that's all, R1? Giuliani's supposed to be an alcoholic?

I guess it's not as bad a "rumor" as I was expecting.

Strange, but Giuliani doesn't strike me as an alkie. He was always just an attention whore.

Anyway, the discussion in question is at the link, and the argument between Joe and Donnie starts at about the 6:30 mark.

Joe really starts to lose it....

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski Worried for Rudy Giuliani’s Welfare: ‘Someone Needs to Take Care of Him. It’s Abusive’

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is so ubiquitous on cable news these days that Joe Biden’s presidential campaign has asked networks to stop booking him because he will “willingly lie” to protect President Trump, but MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski wants him off TV for another reason.

“Is there someone around him taking care of him?” the “Morning Joe” co-host asked Tuesday. “Someone needs to take care of him. It’s abusive.”

Giuliani, 75, has been subpoenaed by the House in its impeachment inquiry into Trump. On Tuesday morning, “Morning Joe” played clips of him discussing the matter on Fox News.

“I actually feel sorry for the guy when I see him in the state he was in last night, when I see him shuffling around, confused,” said co-host Joe Scarborough. “I am just shocked and I know Republicans I’ve spoken with on the hill are shocked Donald Trump is letting this guy go out as a free agent, rambling around with apparently no game plan and no focus.”

Co-host Willie Geist agreed, asking, “I wonder who’s directing this operation? … Who said, ‘Let’s get Rudy on TV again?’ Is it to throw smoke screens up? Because every time he goes on TV, there’s another lie or another problem for Trump.”

Scarborough lamented what he sees as Giuliani’s “decreased capacities” from when he was “America’s mayor,” calling it “sad” and “pathetic” to see what the lawyer has become: “Yes, it ruins his legacy, but more than that, I’m wondering who’s around Rudy Giuliani allowing him to continue to go out at night and embarrass himself on TV?”

A request for comment from Giuliani was not immediately returned.

I suspect it's dementia along with the drinking, R8. Remember when people thought David Cassidy was hitting the bottle again, but he had dementia? He was still trying to perform, but couldn't keep it together anymore. Giuliani may be experiencing something similar.

I've known a few people well who found out well after the fact that they'd been having strokes (causing brain damage, and later, in two of them, dementia) and wonder if something like that is going on. I've been trying to figure out why these guys are so crazy too, so I'm speculating and reading.

I also have read that Bonespurs uses adderall and wonder if that has contributed to him to have strokes leading to dementia. It seems to be more than excessive drinking or drugs causing Rudy's problems from what I'm seeing. The drinking is probably just part of the explanation is my guess.

Today on the first 15 minutes of Morning Joe:

—Sports talk

—Mika said “Wow.”

—Joe mercilessly made fun of Donny Deutsch about his fake tan and his “billionaire boys club” white-collared dress shirt, after which Donny said he will never wear such a shirt again.

—Mika usefully added, “Wow. Wow.”

That is all. No mention of news.

by Anonymousreply 11October 11, 2019 11:03 AM

Is it wrong that I find Donnie Deutsch kind of hot?

by Anonymousreply 12October 11, 2019 11:11 AM

R12 For the sole reason that the vile Joe Scarborough seems aggressively jealous of Donny Deutsch for some reason, no, it is not wrong. You should tweet them both and tell them how you feel. Maybe Joe will keel over in a jealous rage.

by Anonymousreply 13October 11, 2019 11:14 AM

No, it isn't, r12. Because you're right, Donnie is.

And Guiliani was a shitty fucking mayor. He got rid of porn shops, tried to get the Brooklyn Museum closed because of a painting he didn't like, and had cops go after jaywalkers. He was a fucking fascist. And then when 9-11 happened, he was considered some kind of saint. He was a cunt then and he's a cunt now. Well, now he's actually a cunt and a criminal.

by Anonymousreply 14October 11, 2019 11:15 AM

After enough time passes for most people not to care, the US government’s role in 9/11 will be disclosed, and Giuliani will be a primary player in having organized it using NYC resources.

No one cares about false flags when they’re 50-plus years old.

by Anonymousreply 15October 11, 2019 11:18 AM

^^^Oh, joy--another conspiracy twat.^^^

by Anonymousreply 16October 11, 2019 11:21 AM

Seems like Scarborough was specifically singling out Trump when asking why Giuliani was being trotted out on all the news shows, and probably expected the discussion to go toward something like "Giuliani is being thrown under the bus."

by Anonymousreply 17October 11, 2019 11:23 AM

I think Joe Scarborough was being humane and compassionate. It's obvious that Rudy Giuliani is sort of disconnected and rambly when he's on these new programs. Rudy Giuliani appears on news programs with the intent to protect the president and deliver whatever talking points he's been given, but then he starts to ramble and lose his focus and train of thought.

Earlier in this thread someone suggested dimentia, I think it's a combination of dimentia, not enough sleep, not taking medications and becoming obsessed with some idea or ideal. When these old, straight, white, rich, faux-religious guys get together they enable each other like a frat house.

For a while, I would see that same type of disoriented, dimentia, unfocused, oblivious look when Alaska Senator Sarah Palin would appear on news programs.

by Anonymousreply 18October 11, 2019 11:28 AM

Does Joe wear a bumpit to get his hair like that?

by Anonymousreply 19October 11, 2019 11:29 AM

I remember when Donnie D claimed to be dating Christie Brinkley and that seemed fake

by Anonymousreply 20October 11, 2019 11:29 AM

Stupid Joe cut the mic when Donnie was getting gossipy saying that they have heard the rumors about Rudy and that he was divorced.

by Anonymousreply 21October 11, 2019 11:33 AM

Dimentia?

by Anonymousreply 22October 11, 2019 11:34 AM

Joe Scarborough is possibly one of the most duplicitous pieces of shit on the planet. What comes out of his mouth is simply what he thinks will get the biggest rise out of his viewers at any specific time.

by Anonymousreply 23October 11, 2019 11:36 AM

R12 - I think Donnie is hot too. You are not alone.

by Anonymousreply 24October 11, 2019 11:38 AM

Joe reminds me of Kelly Anne Conway's husband, they were with Trump until it didn't benefit them. Don't trust either.

by Anonymousreply 25October 11, 2019 11:41 AM

Donnie is not hot. Rudy did some good as mayor. He is a "mixed bag."The city was safer, homeless were not visible at least, the city bureaucracy was greatly reduced. He was authoritarian and that increased in his last years as mayor. I'm in NYC and lived thru it. I also go to AA and hope to God Rudy doesn't start showing up at my meetings. He's the type that after he gets about a year sober starts showboating and taking over. He would need to be the "star" of the meeting full of fake spirituality.

by Anonymousreply 26October 11, 2019 11:44 AM

r26, I live in NYC, and lived there when Ghouliani was mayor. He was authoritarian to the point of being a fascist, and to say that homeless people "weren't visible at least" is saying that you were happy not to see them. He swept them up, locked them up, or in other ways forced them out of sight of people, which is in no way dealing with homelessness.

And Donnie Deutsch is hot.

by Anonymousreply 27October 11, 2019 12:06 PM

Too bad Deutsch is such a douche.

[quote] Joe reminds me of Kelly Anne Conway's husband, they were with Trump until it didn't benefit them.

I had to think back to 2015/2016, and Joe and Mika were VERY friendly to trump.

They went to his Christmas party in 2015, socialized with him, etc. That's how trump knew that Joe and Mika were having an affair, and that Mika had plastic surgery. Trump knew all of it, because they were FRIENDS with him.

The minute that Trump turned on them, they turned on him.

So I don't sympathize with Joe and Mika at all. They were friends with him, until they weren't friends with him.

And they got thrown under the bus, just like the countless hundreds before them.

They're no heroes, that's for sure.

by Anonymousreply 30October 11, 2019 12:26 PM

Most politicians and media celebrities are 2 of a kind. They're all users. They use people for the benefits they get from them. They may be friendly with each other, they're never friends. When there's no more benefit to be gained for either side they either move on to another patsy, or in cases like Trump and these two twits they turn on each other like crazed dogs.

by Anonymousreply 31October 11, 2019 12:34 PM

r28/r29, he's no more of a douche than Joe Scarborough, or the Cuomos, or ANY of the Fox pundits. And that's just to name a few.

by Anonymousreply 32October 11, 2019 1:14 PM

All I see is white privilege.

by Anonymousreply 34October 11, 2019 1:28 PM

Palin was a half-governor.

by Anonymousreply 35October 11, 2019 1:48 PM

Palin was a trailer trash slag who was able to con enough goobers in Alaska to vote for her. When the job got too hard she fled.

by Anonymousreply 36October 11, 2019 2:09 PM

Rudy wanted to be NY Senator in 2000, but Hillary got it. By supporting, promoting and defending Trump, Ghouliani can get revenge on her.

I'm sure if Trump gets a 2nd term The Ghoul will be put in charge of putting Hillary in prison.

"The lead in statewide polls swung from Clinton to Giuliani and back to Clinton as the campaigns featured both successful strategies and mistakes as well as dealing with current events. In late April and May 2000, Giuliani's medical, romantic, marital, and political lives all collided in a tumultuous four-week period, culminating in his withdrawal from the race on May 19."

I have completely given up on Morning Joe. I loathe Joe and Mika - two abhorrent star fuckers. They only resisted after Trump went after them. You could tell they thought they were going to be part of the in-crowd. I’ll never forget the morning Mika was bragging about how the day before she was lounging around in the plush bathrobe that Jared and Ivanka gave her as a Christmas present. Also, Joe helped write Trump’s first address to Congress and even rode with him in the limo from the White House to the Capitol. Fuck them both.

I find CNN’s New Day with John Berman and Alyson Camerota much more enjoyable (except when MAGA Haberman is on).

by Anonymousreply 41October 11, 2019 3:39 PM

Skippy, Giuliani is supposed to be the handler for Trump. If that's not a case of the blind leading the blind, I don't know what is.

by Anonymousreply 42October 11, 2019 3:43 PM

[R18] - LOL!!! I'm sorry, but 'humane' and 'compassionate' are two words that never have and will never appear in the same sentence as "Joe Scarborough".

by Anonymousreply 43October 11, 2019 3:50 PM

Joe & Donnie having a dispute on TV has happened a few times before. Joe gets unraveled each time. Some of it may be planned to generate audience interest.

As to Rudy, I don't have sympathy for him. He may be 75, but he knows what is legal and what is not. He had enough cognitive abilities to scheme and conspire in an effort to frame a political opponent. He did such with HRC and Obama prior. He sees himself as a power broker. He has gotten caught in illicit behavior. His TV yapping is an old tactic that is no longer working for him. Stop giving him TV time, and honest F-B-I agents need to keep an eye on him. Congress needs to thoroughly grill his ass as well. This "he's old and getting increasingly mentally compromised' is a convenient excuse for his fuck-ups.

by Anonymousreply 44October 11, 2019 4:01 PM

IIRC, Giuliana dropped out of the Senate race versus Hillary in May 2000 because he had prostate cancer and needed to get treatment. That allowed him to be Mayor on 9/11 which is arguably his claim to fame.

by Anonymousreply 51October 12, 2019 1:33 AM

NO, R51.

by Anonymousreply 52October 12, 2019 1:36 AM

Joe, Mika and Donnie all considered themselves good friends of Donald Trump before he became President, clearly they have zero good judgment.

When Morning Joe went to commercial at one point this morning they showed a photo of Joe and Mika in a convertible taken from above, Mika was stretched out laying down in the front seat, Joe was stretched out in the back seat with his feet hanging over the side of the car. They played some corny love song while they showed the picture, wish I could find the picture but it doesn't appear to be on the internet. I think some of these photographers are punking Joe and Mika knowing neither of them has the good sense not to use those pictures, like the one below.

by Anonymousreply 56October 12, 2019 8:12 AM

I caught that too OP, pissed Joe cut the mic. There has go to be more to the story about Giuliani just being old. Dementia is common in old people, hardly something even worth gossiping about. I am thinking some kind of addition to pain meds. When he talks he is all over the map yet he doesn't slur. Or maybe its a combination. Either way he's an asshole and a traitor to this country selling us out for personal greed so I have no sympathy for him. I hope he goes to jail. Congress may not do it, but this new shit with these guys they just caught just might give him and his lawyers a run for his money. It would be out of the hands of congress.

by Anonymousreply 57October 12, 2019 8:39 AM

The only reason Rudy Giuliani was down at The World Trade Center was because against all advice he chose to put NY's Emergency Command Center down there. When the plane first hit he wasn't being some hero, he was going to the center. It was in Building 7 and when one of the towers fell, it fell around him. He had to crawl out, by the end of the day building 7 fell too. Of course he blames someone else for the location. If it had been built in a less conspicuousness place he never would have been down there at all.

Isn’t Mika’s part of Morning Joe pre-recorded? I don’t understand why she can’t read the TelePrompTer. She is paid millions of dollars per year, and in exchange for that, she gets to flub lines of single-take pre-recorded segments that air for a couple hours every morning, to sell her books and lectures like Morning Joe is her personal infomercial, and to nod and say “wow....WOW!” while Joe blabbers along with hyperbolic, insincere speeches.
