Are we sure Freddie Mercury was the only gay member of Queen?

It's amazing to me that fans back then had no idea he was gay. They sang, "Come on and sit on my hot seat of love, loverboy" and their first album, "Queen" (it's right there in the name btw) had thumbnail pics on the back of all the boys playing dress up with feather boas and looking like androgynous twinks. It actually was a SHOCK when I found out the other members of the band weren't gay.

I think the other members were just going along with what Freddie wanted.

It was the Glam era in England, r2. EVERYBODY was dressing that way regardless of sexuality. The other members of Queen had no reason NOT TO come out after Freddy died, so I think they would have if they were gay.

They're certainly younger than Lindsey Graham.

Oh I know now they weren't gay, and were just letting Freddie decide their persona. But Freddie wasn't at all subtle about what that persona was and it was amazing that there were hoards of fans who didn't know or would deny the fact. Even my 12 year old self saw it for what it was.

The 70s were a weird time. I've never gotten the impression the others were gay. Even some of the Village People were straight...so they say.

I don't doubt at all that he was very much into women, R13, just a feeling I had which may be wrong.

Since Freddie studied art, fashion, and design, he took charge of the costumes. Or maybe he just really really wanted to take charge of the costumes!

The others all seem to be quite straight in terms of sexual orientation, but they also all seem to have a bit of a feminine side. They can't have minded all the frou-frou too much, seeing how much they wore back in the day, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if any of them had a secret interest in cross-dressing.
