It may be old news, but I found it fascinating. Someone in the comments theorized that the man in the bear suit is in fact Danny. Shelly Duvall isn't stumbling on two ghosts having sex; she's seeing Jack sexually abusing her son, but she can't handle that, so she re-envisions it and runs away in terror. I'll never look at that scene the same way. The whole discussion of Tony is pretty disturbing. Actually, now I'm seeing the whole movie differently. It's interesting how haunted houses (in this case a haunted hotel) is a metaphor for a dysfunctional family. No one on the outside believes what's happening.
