I used to LOVE them. I would watch them every Sunday and E! Would air marathons or them all day sometimes, and I would watch them all the time. Absolutely loved them!
Why did E! Cancel them and decide to make it the Kardashian network instead?

I worked for e in early 2000s. Too difficult to keep them up to date with new developments in the subjects vs roi.

Let's face it, the Kardashians are on day and night because people want to see them, horrible as that sounds. And the audience they're catering to doesn't care about Hollywood history. I loved them too OP.

I used to love watching them. I think the last one I saw was about Lindsay Lohan.

E! And Bravo have been ruined by Seacrest and Cohen respectively.

The subjects now Twitter constantly so there's no need for them.

The first one I ever saw was the “Clueless” one.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 21, 2019 11:48 AM |
I loved them. I hope they stay traditional. Will they have the same narrator?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 21, 2019 12:42 PM |
I like when they did the story of George Michael and left out he was gay, had AIDS, was a druggie and pretty much a horrible person.

Hi Fadduh, aka R9. Hope the box you're sleeping in catches fire with you in it.

That one was great r11. Also the one on Rock Hudson I remember.

The first one I saw while debuting was “Clueless” but the first I saw on re-run was the one on “Savannah”

E Hollywood Stories were whitewashed so they didn’t loose the ability to interview actors. Most of it was rehashing of what everyone already knew

Anyone watching the premier tonight? It's not bad. Those who conceive of NXIVM and similar cults should be cast into hell.

Because celebrity's ongoing lives are no longer are a secret. They live in the present. I'm so glad I got to experience pop culture before social media. Hooyah 80s babies.

Are they own by Viacom? They seem to destroy what they touch
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 7, 2019 4:44 AM |
I watched this show from the very beginning. I think Rebecca Schaeffer or Dominique Dunne was the first episode. I remember how riveting and compelling it was during the early years when they profiled true show biz icons, scandals and tragedies. In later years, the series became too focused on pop-culture and it lost its edge and intrigue. Now that they're resurrecting it, I hope they return to the roots of the show but it doesn't look promising. KIm Kardashian is being profiled this season.

Yes, the Dominique Dunne episode was excellent. It still enrages me thinking about how the asshole who killed her basically got away with it and learning that she was rehearsing with another actor who was inside her house as she was being killed. It was really unnerving.

They decided to devote the entire channel to the Whoredashians.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 7, 2019 5:48 AM |
Something that often confused me was that many of the stories WEREN'T set in Hollywood.
Like, how can there be an [italic]E! True Hollywood Story: Gia: Supermodel [/italic]when Gia Carangi barely set foot in California at all?

I was introduced to all the older stars as a gayling by watching E! True Hollywood Story, Lifetime:Intimate Portrait and Biography. Lifetime:Intimate Portraits were my favorite and I used to pull a sickie a few times a year so I could stay home alone binge watching them. I wish they put them up on one of the streaming services. I was such a geek I used to watch with a little notepad and write down the name of the movies and then go get them. This was around 1998 so I don’t think we even had a computer in the house yet.

R21 because famous = Hollywood.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 7, 2019 3:57 PM |
Hahaha R21 That's SO true. It's like the producers used 'Hollywood' as a catch-all for anybody in the public eye. They'd be like "Next Sunday is the premiere of E! True Hollywood Story: The Death of Princess Diana", LOL ..... Because you know, Diana, Princess of Wales was quite the Hollywood fixture, LOL.
R22 I loved all those shows too! Intimate Portrait, THS and A&E biography were like the trifecta of Old Hollywood exposés. The Intimate Portrait of Natalie Wood was really memorable and I've been looking for it online for years, but can't find it.

By the end of the original run they were already covering people like Casey Anthony.
I don’t like the new narrator. Sounds like a boring ID show.

I really enjoyed Mysteries and Scandals by AJ Benza.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 7, 2019 4:27 PM |
Why on earth would they do a show about the Kartrashians? The world hears about them every time one of them farts.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 7, 2019 4:33 PM |
The first episode is on the Kardashians? I'm done.....
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 7, 2019 10:31 PM |
[R26] I love AJ Benza mysteries and scandals too! I started listening to his podcast, but he’s Trump lover. Without a doubt, a gold star douche, but he does know and appreciate Hollywood history.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 8, 2019 3:05 PM |
Ryan Douchecrest is responsible for making it Kartrashians 24/7.

I loved the one on Joan Rivers.

I never forget watching the Nicole brown murder/OJ trial one. It really intrigued my 13 yr old mind. Everyone who lived on Rodeo Drive wrote a book about the night the murder took place.
