Thank goodness for the photographer. So is there any chance that progress is being made with the younger generations regarding gay tolerance/acceptance? At least 2000 souls were brave enough to march in this event.

Houston we have a problem. The Russians are notorious homophobes .....BUT......this took place in the Ukraine, a different country, speaking a related but different language. Russians beat up gay people all the time too, and sometimes murder them. However, a number of other Slavic countries are equally homophobic, which this video demonstrates. We can blame at least part of this on the Orthodox church, which has been happy to aid and abet the various governments of eastern Europe in their use of gay people as scapegoats for ills of their societies.

All the eastern block had a middle class under communism and an intelligentsia. I don't know about the situation nowadays. I know there were brain drains after the Iron Curtain fell and many professionals left for higher salaries elsewhere.
