A photo taken of him at a party years ago has surfaced and all hell has broken loose.

OP is worse than Hitler.

by Anonymousreply 2September 19, 2019 12:28 AM

Hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 3September 19, 2019 12:32 AM

Mein Fuhrer!

by Anonymousreply 4September 19, 2019 12:34 AM

This is the ONE and ONLY thread.

by Anonymousreply 5September 19, 2019 12:42 AM

Has he responded yet?

by Anonymousreply 6September 19, 2019 12:52 AM

No, but Susan Dey has.

by Anonymousreply 7September 19, 2019 12:54 AM

Like "male feminists," the sanctimoniously (and nauseatingly) woke are ALWAYS the ones who end up being pigs.

by Anonymousreply 8September 19, 2019 12:56 AM

It’s in black and white, but I’m guessing he really doing blue face and is a genie?

by Anonymousreply 9September 19, 2019 12:59 AM

Was that sort of thing (blackface) acceptable in 2001? Northam’s youthful blackface photo was from the 1980s when he was in college. Justin was 29 when he went to that party in blackface.

by Anonymousreply 10September 19, 2019 1:05 AM

Blackface still happens a lot, especially in many Universities, usually the most prestige.

by Anonymousreply 11September 19, 2019 1:10 AM

R10 the chattering class on Canadian TV say that at 29 year old teacher, Trudeau should have known better - AND back in 2001 it was unacceptable.

by Anonymousreply 12September 19, 2019 1:10 AM

I agree r9, I would assume blue. why isn't there a color photo?

by Anonymousreply 13September 19, 2019 1:11 AM

Trudeau has admitted he was in blackface.......fuuuuuccccccckkkkkkkkk

This was taken in 2001, how has this not come to light before?

At least Trudeau is apologizing...Scheer still hasn't apologized for comparing gays to a dog.

by Anonymousreply 14September 19, 2019 1:14 AM

Trudeau is not going anywhere...if it really were an issue, it would have been one 20 years ago when his father was PM

by Anonymousreply 15September 19, 2019 1:18 AM

But the chattering class on TV (all white though) are saying for Justin Trudeau IT'S OVER

by Anonymousreply 16September 19, 2019 1:18 AM

things that happened in the past have no relevance on today!

by Anonymousreply 17September 19, 2019 1:19 AM

Get ready for Prime Minister Scheer. Harsh truth, liberal and left-leaning voters will turn away from Trudeau because he wore blackface and turban, but aren't comfortable voting for the man who actually wears a turban.

by Anonymousreply 18September 19, 2019 1:20 AM

Only 3.5% of Canadians are Black as of 2016.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 19September 19, 2019 1:21 AM

R19 people of COLOR not just black, how much of the vote to they represent

by Anonymousreply 20September 19, 2019 1:22 AM

I think its ridiculous that this could derail his career. I hope people consider his age at the time, accept his apology and let it go

Then again, I also think the drama queens on this site willing to cut a bitch over a parking spot and plan elaborate revenge scenarios are losers and need to let those issues go, too.

by Anonymousreply 21September 19, 2019 1:22 AM

I think this is very very very bad. It plays against his whole brand of being a progressive. It will insult non-white liberal supporters but will it be enough to change their votes?

by Anonymousreply 22September 19, 2019 1:29 AM

Justin was strongly rumored to have been intimate with Jian Ghomeshi, who had a degree in wormens studies and who had befriended Ani DiFranco and Gloria Steinem before, you know punching women in the head and cracking their ribs and calling it consensual BDSM. Justin was a hottie when young but his taste and judgment are questionable.

by Anonymousreply 23September 19, 2019 1:30 AM

R23 I've never heard that rumour of Justin and Ghomeshi. Ghomeshi had a big mouth - no pun intended - and he bragged openly about a lot of his conquests. Trust me if he had bedded a Trudeau, he would have been talking about that left right and center.

by Anonymousreply 24September 19, 2019 1:33 AM
This was taken in 2001, how has this not come to light before?

It was kept in the dark.

by Anonymousreply 25September 19, 2019 1:33 AM

He did, R24. Heard it from a few people. Shudder.
I hope people consider his age at the time,

Yeah, he was 29 years old, not some college kid. And a teacher at that.

by Anonymousreply 27September 19, 2019 1:37 AM

Genies are blue?

by Anonymousreply 28September 19, 2019 1:38 AM

95% of DLers would still do him.

Or be done by him, as the case may be

by Anonymousreply 29September 19, 2019 1:40 AM

R12 it's only unacceptable to people with an inferiority complex like you and most of the SJWs that are spreading like the plague. that's like saying painting a child's face with a tiger pattern will offend the animal kingdom.

Idiots.

by Anonymousreply 30September 19, 2019 1:41 AM

Datalounge is very bottom heavy, YMF. We can't all be swaggering tops like yourself.

by Anonymousreply 31September 19, 2019 1:44 AM

R27 and 29 is mature? look at all the 20 something SJWs here and in every website thinking the world revolves around they're own faulty ideals and tell me how mature they are. you won't because you're one of them.

by Anonymousreply 32September 19, 2019 1:44 AM

R16 The only people who are saying this are the same ones who pulled this photo out of nowhere, Conservatives.

by Anonymousreply 33September 19, 2019 1:46 AM

Like this wasn't a ploy by the conservatives? Bitch Please, Trudeau FTW.

by Anonymousreply 34September 19, 2019 1:47 AM

R33 so now CBC News is Fox North?

by Anonymousreply 35September 19, 2019 1:50 AM
It’s in black and white, but I’m guessing he really doing blue face and is a genie?

That a clever idea, R9. He should say that.

by Anonymousreply 36September 19, 2019 1:53 AM

There’s probably more out there. He just said this in response to a reporter:
Reporter: "Do you want to tell Canadians about any other instances where you are concerned that you were racist?"
Trudeau: "I've always — and you'll know this — been more enthusiastic about costumes than is sometimes appropriate."

by Anonymousreply 37September 19, 2019 1:55 AM

He looks even hotter as a brown person!

by Anonymousreply 38September 19, 2019 1:56 AM

R32 Again: 29 is a grown-ass adult, not some kid.

And, again, he was a teacher at the time.

by Anonymousreply 39September 19, 2019 1:56 AM

R36 Then the blue man group will find it offensive and deploy their mindless sjw trolls all over the internet and create thousands of threads on how it's racists and insensitive.

by Anonymousreply 40September 19, 2019 1:59 AM

This is very bad. The whole world is turning fascist. I hope Canada can contain this to a minority parliament. I have a feeling there's more to come for Justin Trudeau. The gentle Canadians are about to fight very dirty.

by Anonymousreply 41September 19, 2019 2:02 AM
The gentle Canadians are about to fight very dirty.

exactly

by Anonymousreply 42September 19, 2019 2:03 AM

R39 Again, you are one hell of a stupid person to think that at 29 you have reached a magical age where all the wisdom of your ancestors suddenly appear to you and therefore you live life with such powerful maturity.

by Anonymousreply 43September 19, 2019 2:03 AM

R42 Learning from the neighbors, ay!

Trudeau was toast a year ago. He knows he had no chance of staying in office. This is just one more scandal the public can bash him over. He should have never been PM to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 46September 19, 2019 2:05 AM

R46 And you should have never been born but here we are.

by Anonymousreply 47September 19, 2019 2:06 AM

by Anonymousreply 51September 19, 2019 2:08 AM

I think he should only be forgiven if he agrees to a bare bottomed spanking. It’s the only way to move past this.

by Anonymousreply 52September 19, 2019 2:12 AM

Weird how long this took to come out.

by Anonymousreply 53September 19, 2019 2:23 AM

R37 LOL!

by Anonymousreply 54September 19, 2019 2:23 AM

R53 it's not weird. it was politically planned to outrage people of no character strength and causing an idot to faux cry on TV.

by Anonymousreply 55September 19, 2019 2:25 AM
] people of COLOR not just black, how much of the vote to they represent

And they will all now switch their votes to the Conservative party! 🙄

by Anonymousreply 56September 19, 2019 2:25 AM

R52 Well it’s better than fucking a pig like in Black Mirror.

by Anonymousreply 57September 19, 2019 2:25 AM

R43 29 is plenty old enough to know not to do shit like this. Or it should be.

by Anonymousreply 58September 19, 2019 2:27 AM

R56 no they will go to the NDP and split the progressive vote, letting the CONS win

by Anonymousreply 59September 19, 2019 2:28 AM

The problem with this, as I'm sure most of you already understand, is that the left (by which I mean the "woke" twitter class) has appointed itself as the arbiter of correctness, sitting in judgement of all persons (living or dead), places, and things. When you champion an ideology that has only two acceptable categories--woke or cancelled--you get a heady rush by exercising your moral superiority over the unworthy bigots, but all that goes away if you fail to meet your own ridiculous standards. Trudeau has been an eager-beaver of woke ideology, so he now MUST accept the predetermined woke judgement (which is always death-by-cancellation) for his actions.

What you morons who are bitching that "this is the alt-right!" or "look when this was released sheeple!" or "conservative trolls are pushing this story!" fail to understand is that Trudeau did this to himself. And further, by so quickly rushing to condone/ignore his undeniably insensitive if not full-blown racist past actions, you completely undermine your credibility on any PC BS in the future. It's the same as hypothetically claiming that "facist police set up Jussie! He might have hoaxed us, but conservatives are pointing it out so it doesn't matter."

by Anonymousreply 60September 19, 2019 2:29 AM

It was "politically planned" to keep it a secret for almost 20 years, R55?

by Anonymousreply 61September 19, 2019 2:30 AM
It was "politically planned" to keep it a secret for almost 20 years,

Harper probably had it in 2015, to use, but thought better NOT to use it.

by Anonymousreply 62September 19, 2019 2:31 AM

He also admitted he sang Day-O while wearing blackface in high school talent show. And apologized.

by Anonymousreply 63September 19, 2019 2:31 AM

R60 so should Trudeau resign?

by Anonymousreply 64September 19, 2019 2:32 AM

R56 only insufferable idiots who have no viable understanding of what a smear campaign is will,

by Anonymousreply 65September 19, 2019 2:33 AM

I’m guessing his Arabian nights look is less offensive in Canada (fictional character) than American politicians wearing blackface in offensive stereotypes of African Americans?

Like its a totally different context or is everyone who paints their face for a sports event going to be executed?

by Anonymousreply 66September 19, 2019 2:34 AM

R58 you're still arguing? look at your orange president doing stupid shit in his 60s let alone what he was doing in his 20s

by Anonymousreply 67September 19, 2019 2:35 AM

R61 it was politically planned to COME OUT now before the elections. You didn't get that the first time?

by Anonymousreply 68September 19, 2019 2:38 AM

Wow, there is no rest for anyone. Everyone is working hard to ruin and smear the rich and famous. Who’s next?

by Anonymousreply 69September 19, 2019 2:38 AM

R64 YOU should resign your ass off and away from DL

by Anonymousreply 70September 19, 2019 2:39 AM

R57 So your argument is “Trudeau did some dumb racist shit but TRUMP is worse!”? Is that about it?

by Anonymousreply 71September 19, 2019 2:39 AM

R70 the question was to R60 NOT you

by Anonymousreply 72September 19, 2019 2:40 AM

Only a complete asshole with his head up his ass would have done blackface or brown face in 2001. I'm only a few years younger than Trudeau and that definitely would have been a no unless you and your friends were all a bunch of douchebags. I'm sick of this fake environmentalist I'm voting NDP. This is just something else that shows what a fraud he is.

by Anonymousreply 73September 19, 2019 2:40 AM

R68, did you not get that R55's reply was to R53? Reread.

by Anonymousreply 74September 19, 2019 2:43 AM

R71 HOW was wearing a costume racist? You dumb ignorant intellectually retarded American need to look that word up in the dictionary but knowing you hating lazy ass who resorts to dumbing arguments down to YOUR narrative you probably won't.

Also , WHO was the first pm that celebrated the first black history month in Canada?

by Anonymousreply 75September 19, 2019 2:43 AM

Isn’t he dressed like an Indian from India? I thought he was dressed like snoop dog or a gangsta rapper from the headlines!

by Anonymousreply 76September 19, 2019 2:44 AM

R73 how old were you in 2001?

by Anonymousreply 77September 19, 2019 2:45 AM

R73 Only a COMPLETE ASSHOLE with the emotional insecurity of a 9 year old would be offended by the face paint.

by Anonymousreply 78September 19, 2019 2:47 AM

R78 since Jagmeet Singh cried tonight on National TV, would you mean him?

by Anonymousreply 79September 19, 2019 2:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 80September 19, 2019 2:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 84September 19, 2019 2:51 AM

R81 EXACTLY and these are the real deplorables.

by Anonymousreply 85September 19, 2019 2:52 AM

Isn't Dump basically in failed blackface every day? He should apologize.

by Anonymousreply 86September 19, 2019 2:53 AM

Trudeau himself said wearing brownface was racist, and he apologized. Voters can now weigh the issue on their own scale before they go to the polls.

by Anonymousreply 87September 19, 2019 2:54 AM

Black face? Who the fuck cares? It means nothing.

by Anonymousreply 88September 19, 2019 2:54 AM
Trudeau himself said wearing brownface was racist

He actually used the term "brownface" instead of blackface?

by Anonymousreply 89September 19, 2019 2:56 AM

R89 because he was dressed up as a 'brown' person, not a black person

by Anonymousreply 90September 19, 2019 2:59 AM

R87 only because he's succumbing to a world ruled by moronic and childish people who now weigh the writings of ignorant millenial sjws higher than that of common sense.

by Anonymousreply 91September 19, 2019 3:00 AM

Virtue and Moir announce retirement. Coincidence?

by Anonymousreply 92September 19, 2019 3:01 AM
the picture was taken at an "Arabian Nights"-themed gala

Arabian Nights are black?

by Anonymousreply 93September 19, 2019 3:02 AM

R93 CAN you NOT see the photo is in BLACK and WHITE?

Do you have any cells in your fucking brain left?

by Anonymousreply 94September 19, 2019 3:04 AM

These things usually backfire on those that bring up and feign outrage. He'll garner sympathy and people will think it ridiculous that stuff is brought up from how many years ago when he was young and stupid? What next? Discovery of a misdemeanor when 13? Culturally, Canada isn't the U.S. The blackface doesn't have the resonance it does in The States. I remember I used to watch The Black & White Minstral show from the 70's and think nothing of it.

by Anonymousreply 95September 19, 2019 3:04 AM

Owwee. Trudeau also admitted to dressing in blackface at a high school talent show, where he sang......DAYO!! Daylight come and he want to go home. Bye Justin.

by Anonymousreply 96September 19, 2019 3:05 AM

R89 I think he just said "make-up", not "brownface". Regardless, he repeatedly says it was racist in the interview at the link below. And apologizes.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 97September 19, 2019 3:05 AM

R95 exactly. The only people who are outraged are the conservative trolls and paid figures like Jaghmeet singh crying like a 5 year old. That and Americans who think their media can change our vote.

by Anonymousreply 98September 19, 2019 3:08 AM

Justin as Harry Belafonte. Dayo!

R96 no YOU BYE you infantile human with no logical reasoning.

by Anonymousreply 100September 19, 2019 3:09 AM

The problem is that the media in Canada has changed dramatically over the past four years, After Trump got elected, Cable News in the USA reaped record profits. Media in Canada saw that and said they want a piece of the action. So now they chase stories and are so repetitive to the point of being like a tabloid - case in point was SNC. I don't think four years ago it would be as big a story as it was. The media MADE IT a big story by repeating it day after day after day, until viewers got sick of it. But by the the damage was done to Trudeau, no thanks to the media by making a mountain out of a molehill

If you think the media will let this story go, you are mistaken. They won't be satisfied until they wring out every but of juice out of this story,

by Anonymousreply 101September 19, 2019 3:15 AM

Trudeau has made a full confession, so he accepts responsibility for his actions. Still, there will need to be consequences.

by Anonymousreply 102September 19, 2019 3:18 AM
The only people who are outraged are the conservative trolls

You saying liberals are ok with blackface?

by Anonymousreply 103September 19, 2019 3:19 AM

Some of you Trudeau lovers are being a little extra.

by Anonymousreply 104September 19, 2019 3:21 AM

R101 exactly. Let's hope Canadians aren't as dumb to listen to them like their neighbors listening to Fox and co.

by Anonymousreply 105September 19, 2019 3:24 AM

R103 Anyone who is offended or calls face paint racist has an intellectual maturity of a 10 year old.

by Anonymousreply 106September 19, 2019 3:26 AM

Remember who his mother is.

by Anonymousreply 107September 19, 2019 3:26 AM

R106 Jagmeet Singh cried tonight, are you saying he is 10 years old?

by Anonymousreply 108September 19, 2019 3:27 AM

R102 consequences for wearing a costume 20 years ago?

And who the fuck are you to demand consequences for that?

by Anonymousreply 109September 19, 2019 3:27 AM

I don't love Trudeau. He's fake as the day is long, he's corrupt and he's got a flabby ass. But I don't want more fascists in power. Some of the Canadian loons here don't inspire confidence. Blind worship of a leader is never a good idea. IF he survives the election, Trudeau will not remain leader for long. He's going to have to step down. It's inevitable. And one of the beauties of the parliamentary system.

by Anonymousreply 110September 19, 2019 3:28 AM

R108 No, He's a 5 year old crying for attention just like Lily.

Did he cry those fucking tears when Air India crashed?

by Anonymousreply 111September 19, 2019 3:29 AM

Wont change a single vote for those who intended to vote for him before this nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 112September 19, 2019 3:31 AM

R110 if you don't like Trudeau, who are you voting for?

by Anonymousreply 113September 19, 2019 3:31 AM

R112 then what about the "undecided"?

by Anonymousreply 114September 19, 2019 3:31 AM

What has the west become? Ever since Trump was elected every other country is trying to elect retards for presidents or PMs. You'd rather have Scheer over Trudeau?? The fuck is wrong with you? Falling for this is like falling for Pizzagate.

by Anonymousreply 115September 19, 2019 3:33 AM

We all have done silly things in our pasts. Even little minor things can be blown up into the worst things in the world on the political stage. How about instead of looking for pure, unblemished politicians, why not just work to find good leaders who have lived life and who have made mistakes and who can understand what it means to be flawed.

by Anonymousreply 116September 19, 2019 3:34 AM

29 ain’t that young, R95

by Anonymousreply 117September 19, 2019 3:40 AM

Canada is one of the 3 whitest countries in the Americas, this will not hurt him since the Canadian population is mostly white.

by Anonymousreply 118September 19, 2019 3:48 AM

R117 it is you dumb millenial.

by Anonymousreply 119September 19, 2019 4:09 AM

Don't start with the 'He was young' excuses. This wasn't taken in the 1930s. He did this at a time and at an age where he should have known better. That said: This isn't worth getting up in arms about and I doubt most on the left actually care despite the rightwing nuts jobs skreeeeeeeeeeeeeeching in this thread about how the 'woke' and the 'SJWs' will latch onto this and end Justin's political career. Unlike the right (who we all know is behind the release of this photo) this isn't one more character defining incident or something that happened recently enough for people to question his support of minority groups or the issues that disproportionately impact them. The right and the trolls that have been shitting all over DL and other outlets online in favor of conservative politicians don't seem to understand this difference.

r97: With the garb, it looks like his aim was to appear like an Aladdin-styled Middle Easterner which makes the black makeup an even odder choice.

by Anonymousreply 120September 19, 2019 4:10 AM

Singh and Scheer are going to regret their tasteless behavior after this smear campaign is over.

by Anonymousreply 121September 19, 2019 4:10 AM

Looking at social media it mostly white people freaking out about Trudeau saying it's over. The majority of persons of colour are basically saying he's an idiot but he's not an actual white nationalist like the conservatives. And the those who are saying they can't forgive seem to be solid NDP or conservative supports. My hunch is he may see a dip in the polls but not enough to cost him the election.

by Anonymousreply 122September 19, 2019 4:18 AM
This isn't worth getting up in arms about and I doubt most on the left actually care

They (and you R120) should. But they (and you) don't because Trudeau is an approved left fetish. If he was conservative, the image would have been publicized long ago and they (and you) would have shrieked in self-righteous indignation. Instead of rationalizing racism.

by Anonymousreply 123September 19, 2019 4:19 AM

R120 Shut your ain't shit ass up. He was young. Who the fuck brings up 1930s as if he was some vampire living through the centuries? Where you even born in 2000 or were you just discovering the cunt between your legs? Either way only a self entitled millenial would think being young doesnt give you excuses. He was young and that IS a solid excuse. The culture that was back then was Way different than it is now if your two braincells can understand that. Not everyone was or still is offended by face paint and wearing clothes from different cultures ESPECIALLY at a THEMED PARTY.

And the photo is in black and white so any dark makeup would look darker than your asshole.

by Anonymousreply 124September 19, 2019 4:20 AM

R123 That's because the conservatives are the real racists so anything like that coming out would have a malicious intention and not a "I'm only wearing a costume for a themed party".

Idiot.

by Anonymousreply 125September 19, 2019 4:23 AM

R122 Yup, I'm noticing the same thing on twitter. Most people of colour are like what's the big deal his policies speak louder than something he did 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 126September 19, 2019 4:28 AM

good he's fucking useless and this is a peak example of faux woke white liberals

by Anonymousreply 127September 19, 2019 4:29 AM

White racist conservatives are shocked, shocked. It's just political mudslinging. We know what Trudeau stands for.

by Anonymousreply 128September 19, 2019 4:30 AM

R125 = Deplorable logic and rationalization. As if the Left isn't just as bigoted and racist as the Right. But one you turn a blind eye to, the other you don't. Hypocrite!

by Anonymousreply 129September 19, 2019 4:33 AM

This scandal is BIGGER than the Smollet scandal.

Smollet was just a performer in some TV show; Trudeau is under the impression he's Jesus ofNazareth.

by Anonymousreply 130September 19, 2019 4:43 AM
since Jagmeet Singh cried tonight on National TV

Why did Singh cry?

Singh cwied because he was so hurt by these photos and he knew that many other Canadians would be feeling pain too. He urged people to seek support and stay strong. Jesus Christ. Trudeau is disliked enough already. Nobody cares about this but it will be Comey's reopening the investigation into Hillary's emails 2 weeks before the US election. Disastrous. The 11 o'clock news spent practically the entire broadcast on it. Even the CBC. The Liberals have only 36% support in the polls, in a virtual tie with Schmear. Singh will get some votes out of this. Wasted votes that will only help the PCs.

by Anonymousreply 133September 19, 2019 5:36 AM

by Anonymousreply 135September 19, 2019 5:40 AM

And what you are missing r60 is that you people show up every damn day with a new "scandal" screaming "this is it, Trudeau is finally going down!" and it never happens.

You say "all hell is breaking loose" but it never really is.

So cry all day about how liberals hurt your feelings all you want; until a real scandal happens, and not just wishful thinking, this is a waste of our time.

by Anonymousreply 140September 19, 2019 7:21 AM

Has Stefonkee issued a statement?

by Anonymousreply 141September 19, 2019 7:21 AM

This seems much ado about nothing. "Blackface" was a thing....meaning, there was a long and unpleasant history, first from minstrel shows, Al Jolson, and then various more mean-spirited versions from the 50s to the 90s, when people should have been more sensitive, and yet still did it, partly as a way to make fun of black skin and hair. However, dressing up as Aladdin in a turban, surrounded by women who have also dressed as some sort of harem girls? Not really seeing that as a long-standing racial slur that has resonated through the ages. I'm playing this very week for a production of Puccini's Madame Butterfly. Every single lead female singer is Caucasian, and every single one is in a kimono with makeup to make her look Japanese. If the photographer holds onto the negatives, is he going to blackmail them all in 20 years as some sort of extreme racists that need to be called out?

by Anonymousreply 142September 19, 2019 7:41 AM

No, it has long been frowned on. You could do it, but it had to make the person doing it look stupid.

Like when Samantha did it to Joey to get back at Nell

Or when Archie wore it at this lodge and then had to go to the hospital.

Mike: Who in the world does a minstrel show in this day and age

Archie: My lodge that's who

Mike: Don't you realize how offensive that is to black people?

Archie: That's all right, none of them will see it.
Looking at social media it mostly white people freaking out about Trudeau saying it's over. The majority of persons of colour are basically saying he's an idiot but he's not an actual white nationalist like the conservatives.

Similar to what happened earlier this year when a 1984 photo of Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam in blackface appeared. White liberals (and conservatives, of course) called for his immediate resignation. The NAACP also demanded that he resign, but polling found that the majority of black Virginians wanted him to stay in office. Which he did.

Last night I had thought that may be this wouldn't tank him, but now with three instances of it he's done. He won't be able to crawl his way out of this. The only hope now is that enough Liberals flip to the NDP. This irony is that Trudeau will lose the election over his looking racist while the NDP will lose because Canadians won't vote for a guy in a turban.

by Anonymousreply 163September 19, 2019 1:34 PM

As a Canadian this is hard to watch, I feel bad for Justin. Trudeau has never been racist to my knowledge, just theatrical.

by Anonymousreply 164September 19, 2019 1:36 PM

Why do you feel bad for him?

Most people who are racist aren’t going around loudly saying how much they hate n*****s or showing off klan tattoos. It’s much more lowkey and insidious. These two latter instances are just straight up minstrel level mocking. Feel bad for all the people Trudeau has condescended to and ignored as PM, not him.

by Anonymousreply 165September 19, 2019 1:41 PM

r164

But if he was ugly he'd be a racist right?

Of course no one learns the bigger lesson or sees the real problem.

by Anonymousreply 166September 19, 2019 2:27 PM

This is deadly for Trudeau because it destroys his whole brand. It reinforces that conservative propaganda that Trudeau is nothing by a shallow idiot who actually doesn't know what he's doing. While he lose the election? The jury is still out. If he was running against anyone but Scheer I think he'd be dead in the water. However, if he does win, this will be his last term. He'll resign as party leader before the next election.

by Anonymousreply 167September 19, 2019 2:33 PM

I find it hilarious if a man is leftist and hot, he can be forgiven and get away with downright racism. If he was conservative (and ugly) you would be calling this an outrage and call for his resignation.

Bad people exist everywhere on all sides.

R32, R43, R124, etc, you’re deranged. You keep posting over and over how “29” (almost 30) is so “young” and blah blah. No - society expects you to grow the heck up by 30, especially if you work full-time as a [italic]professional teacher[/italic] educating others.

No (normal) 29-30-year-old TEACHER parades around in black-face or brown-face to “themed parties”! Why? Because, for a person working in professional EDUCATION, it’s not funny - it’s pathetic. Only a total DOUCHE or moron would do that.

When Henry Windsor-Mountbatten wore his moronic Nazi uniform - he was lambasted in the press for it and publicly butt-spanked by his father, Charles (who sent him off to a ‘re-education centre’). Henry was a 20-year-old bottom-of-the-class student during that scandal (and a total dunce at that, failing his exams) - that’s young (college age, just out of his teens). But Trudeau was [italic]a decade OLDER[/italic] than Henry. If Henry Windsor-Mountbatten paraded around in brown-face or black-face aged not 20, but 29-30, or in front of Meghan Markle - he would be roasted by the press.

The Ted Danson blackface story in 1993 was everywhere. Did Trudeau never read a newspaper? Wasn't he always going to go into politics? I don't get how he could be so stupid.

by Anonymousreply 171September 19, 2019 5:09 PM

R171 Trudeau is from Quebec - in that part of Canada "Blackface" is a more culturally acceptable practice.

by Anonymousreply 172September 19, 2019 5:22 PM

The knee jerk reactions are truly pathetic. People don't have an ounce of common sense and whip themselves up into frenzies of political correctness. The Arabian Nights theme at the private school was put on because the teachers admired this piece of literature. Trudeau didn't dress as Aladdin to make fun of the character and Arabs in general. If he were racist, he wouldn't have people of colour in his cabinet. Just because white actors in old American films would put on blackface to deliberately portray blacks in the U.S. as dim witted, lazy, superstitious, happy-go-lucky, etc., people assume anyone in blackface or brownface is doing exactly the same thing. Trudeau's father was famous because he was prime minister of Canada. He was often interviewed after his political career ended because he was an intelligent man. His son would not deliberately do anything that he knew was offensive because it would come back to bite him. How far does political correctness go? Is it now offensive for whites to have a costume party with an Arabian Nights theme and dress in the way they imagined the characters dressed without using brownface or blackface? I hope none of you watched "I Dream of Jeannie" because that makes you racist. I'm pretty sure I saw part of an old Judy Garland film where she was dressed in blackface along with other actors and they did a musical number whose intent was clearly to make fun of blacks. Surely you can't forgive Garland for doing that. Trudeau was doing nothing of the sort.

This is the correct answer. Don't bother to contradict me because that makes you a politically correct twit.

by Anonymousreply 173September 19, 2019 6:48 PM
Don't bother to contradict me because that makes you a politically correct twit.

Yesterday, Justin Trudeau himself has contradicted you in his calling his own actions racist and apologizing for them. Today, he says he reiterated that his makeup was brownface and racist, and he is "deeply sorry".

by Anonymousreply 174September 19, 2019 6:55 PM

R174, typical Trudeau. All talk, zero substance. But hey, if you need anyone to put on Indian clothing and prance around taking pictures with others, he's your guy!
Yesterday, Justin Trudeau himself has contradicted you in his calling his own actions racist and apologizing for them. Today, he says he reiterated that his makeup was brownface and racist, and he is "deeply sorry".

He said that when he did it, the intent was not racist. He's apologising now to people of colour who may find it offensive even though that wasn't his intent at all. I agree we should all start now with a clean slate after this scandal and whites should avoid brownface and blackface at all times. It's better to be safe than sorry and not have people guess at what your intentions are.

This is really a tempest in a teapot.

by Anonymousreply 176September 19, 2019 7:09 PM

Okay now what about the other two times?

by Anonymousreply 177September 19, 2019 7:41 PM

Based on conversations I had at work today and what I'm seeing on social media, I really don't think Trudeau is in as big of trouble as the media are suggesting. At work it was mostly white people freaking out it or those whom I suspect weren't going to vote liberal any way. Most of the POC I work with were kind of like "meh" about it and accept his apology. Most suggested they still trusted him more than Scheer.

by Anonymousreply 178September 19, 2019 8:08 PM
Okay now what about the other two times?

Maybe he loves the song "Day-O" and is a big fan of Harry Belafonte. After all, the song was featured at the end of "Beetlejuice". Maybe that's where he first heard it. Maybe he has OCD and likes to go the whole nine yards and imitate skin color. You can tell from the performance if it's done to mock blacks and I doubt we have a recording of that. As I said before, if he were racist his cabinet would be all white.

Not aware of the third time.

Nothing more tiresome than ultra liberal whites who spend most of their time being offended on behalf of other people.

by Anonymousreply 185September 19, 2019 9:08 PM

Regardless of intent, it was dumb. And thus probably in character.

However, it WASN'T malicious. This wasn't done to ridicule black or brown people. Whereas Scheer has basically had to say that candidates who say bigoted things will still be supported, or he wouldn't have a party left. I hope Canadians can tell the difference. Conservatives have always been dog-whistling bigotry.
He said that when he did it, the intent was not racist.

R186 beat me to it. No intent means no malice, but doesn't mean he's not an embarrassing idiot. Did he grow up in a white bubble? Did he never have any black or Asian friends, work colleagues or students? If his POC friends (or POC students) were at this party - would he still dare to arrive at a party, wearing black-face right in front of them? He even said himself that he "SHOULD have known better". That is, he admitted he was a moron.

I've never had professional teachers at my school parade around in black-face, or e.g. pull their eyes into 'slanted slits' with tape, to imitate e.g. Asian Mulan. It's just an idiotic thing to do, especially for people who are employed to be role models in charge of school education.

I would expect it from a careless, reckless Instagrammer, doing pranks for notoriety, but not from a responsible teacher in full-time employment.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau apologized again on Thursday for wearing blackface in three separate incidents and said he did not know how many times he had put on racist makeup.

Trudeau declined to definitively say whether there were more instances of him wearing dark makeup. He did not remember each instance, he said, because his privilege gave him a blind spot on the issue.

by Anonymousreply 200September 20, 2019 1:18 AM

Why does one choose a "costume" of another race and culture R200? Yeah, men dress as women sometimes and people did once like to dress up like a native. But Cher was making a fashion statement and none of us were born then. Trudeau comes from the most sensitive of families. Arrogant white mentally ill French Canadian private wealth sensitive families. He's got a fetish at the very least. He likes to dress like a fag too for gay pride parades. He's absolutely your vote, but you are voting for your MP, who hopefully is a liberal? Canadians have rep by pop - with some gerrymandering of ridings. But no one casts a vote for the actual prime minister. Parliament is not some fucked up electoral college winner takes it all system. Trudeau still has a small chance to form a minority government. If he does, he must resign as leader within the first two years. Regardless his career as Prime Minister is over. For now.

by Anonymousreply 204September 20, 2019 1:58 AM

I don’t understand this compulsion to don black face. All these reports lately of middle-age guys who did this in their youth. WTH? I’m about the same age as Trudeau and I never once had even a thought of wearing black face for a “costume” because, well, who the fuck would think that’s ok on any level? It’s not like these guys grew up in the 1800s, or even the 1950s, where racism was common and sickly acceptable. They were born in the ‘70s, and still they thought it a great idea to wear black face. Seriously, WTF?

by Anonymousreply 210September 20, 2019 2:17 AM

Where did R205 mention Halloween, R209? What's edgy about pretending to be a black man or woman? You know it will always be a stereotype. Most of us would be embarrassed by what white people say or do when dressed as black people. Or brown people. Even Designing Women freaked when Suzanne came in blackface to do their Supreme's number! It was funny because it was true. Insensitivity (and outrage) is not new. Folk used to have a bit more fun with it. I'm black and I AM offended by Trudeau. Not everyone who put on the "costume" is a racist. But a better man would think better of it. I sure wouldn't cancel him given the alternatives, but he's not some liberal savior. He's an elitist and he loves to hang with people who love and compliment his ass = gays and democracy deprived Americans, brown skinned oligarchs and David Geffen. Trudeau was caught in his mockery of natives and there's no patriotic excuse for Lavalin. About the blackface, come to think of it....Trudeau is a jerk. We all know a guy like this. He is hurt by these accusations.

Funny thing that most new immigrants and most all brown people in Canada vote conservative anyway. Because they protect "religion" and dog whistle about evil homos and abortion and the darkest races.

Trudeau should be mortified. About his own damn self.

by Anonymousreply 211September 20, 2019 2:46 AM

I just assumed that these were Halloween costumes. Why tf would you dress up otherwise? I'm not condoning it, I was merely trying to explain a possible whitebro reasoning/excuse. Most of the people who got blasted for blackface in the past few years were getting roasted for Halloween costumes. And back in the not so distant past, Halloween was a time when people dressed up as Indians, Arabs etc.

by Anonymousreply 212September 20, 2019 2:55 AM

Thank you r211.

Trudeau has always been a spoiled pretty boy of little substance. Why the gays here thirst for him so desperately, I’ll never know.

It’s increasingly clear that he’s always been this way. Trudeau comes across as your typical BMOC type who would’ve made fun of us “f*gs” in high school just as easily as he wore blackface at the talent show. Just no real regard for people who aren’t like him. His wokeness is opportunistic lipsevice, nothing more.

by Anonymousreply 213September 20, 2019 3:04 AM

by Anonymousreply 214September 20, 2019 3:09 AM

I'm sure Trudeau isn't the worst racist who ever lived and yeah he's better than Trump but this shows how stupid he is. R213, I've never seen any evidence that Trudeau has ever been anti-gay.

Trudeau has been so pro-gay he's even been labelled gay by his right-wing opponents.

One of the Sikh men who posed with Trudeau in the Aladdin costume said it wasn't racist, he didn't see it at racist then or now, and will still be voting Liberal. Yet he's only been interviewed once, while Scheer is all over the news pontificating on this.

by Anonymousreply 242September 20, 2019 11:41 AM

R242 If Scheer and Trump can get away with not apologizing for the egregious things they say and do, it’s clear to me that cancel culture can’t be used against Repugs. They’re immune to it because of how disgusting they are, they know they’re racist/sexist/homophobic, they wear it like a badge of honor.

by Anonymousreply 243September 20, 2019 11:47 AM

R243 when Scheer was asked if he should apologize for his anti-gay marriage rant fro 2005 he said the news conference wasn't about him but Trudeau's racism, I can't believe there wasn't a chorus of laughter.

by Anonymousreply 251September 20, 2019 12:51 PM

This is worse because he didn't reveal his racism. At least with Trump you know it.

by Anonymousreply 252September 20, 2019 12:57 PM

Personally, I don’t think he’s a racist, and I think everyone has gone too far with the “cultural appropriation” stuff.

However, I think the mansplaining and double standards here are notable.

by Anonymousreply 253September 20, 2019 1:14 PM

So while Trudeau has apologized and been very honest about the reality of his mistake, this morning Scheer refused to apologize for comparing gay people to dogs. He also effectively admitted that his campaign has been sitting on these photos for some time, likely waiting for the election. So we now know that it was the conservatives that gave the photos to the press.

Trudeau says that the short video of him in blackface was filmed on costume day for instructors at a whitewater rafting operation in Quebec where he worked in the summer. He guesses it was made between ‘92 and ’94 when he was between 21 and 23 years old. I wonder who he was supposed to be. Is this his very wrong headed way of showing support for racial minorities?

by Anonymousreply 258September 20, 2019 9:11 PM

If Al Jolson's blackface from the 1930s is racist why is Justin Trudeau doing black or brown face in the 2000s okay? I was in 2001 and it was not an okay normal thing to do. His racism could just be one more thing he's lying about.

by Anonymousreply 259September 20, 2019 9:43 PM

I was 20 in 2001

by Anonymousreply 260September 20, 2019 9:44 PM

It's not that it was okay, it's that what the majority of Trudeau's racial minority supporters are posting on Twitter this week is that his long-term actions and commitment in his policies to racial equality make him a better leader than Scheer & the untrustworthy views of Conservatives.

by Anonymousreply 261September 20, 2019 9:45 PM

What commitments? He’s continually broken his promises to First Nations people. His government limited the number of Haitian refugees allowed to come into the country. What this shows is he’s just another empty suit.

by Anonymousreply 262September 20, 2019 9:47 PM

There have to be some limits under all governments, R262. And of course some of his promises weren't perfectly fulfilled, but are you claiming life will be better under the Conservatives?

by Anonymousreply 263September 20, 2019 9:53 PM

R239, that’s a good observation.

I don’t think he was being racist or malicious, but it’s weird.

Well according to Nik Nanos, the Conservatives are the only party that keeps GAINING support. While the Liberals are stuck moving nowhere, the Conservatives (according to his polling) keep increasing their support. A year ago everyone said Trudeau was unbeatable. Not anymore.

R289, yeah, one poll shows the Cons 4 points ahead in Ontario.

And remember that in 2011, the Libs had their worst result in 150 years, so the Cons were only able to win a majority without Quebec because the NDP finished ahead of the Libs. That's not likely to happen this year.

The Libs are 1st in Quebec in 2019, and the NDP are nearly finished there.

by Anonymousreply 291September 21, 2019 2:56 AM

R291 not unless progressives stay home, allowing the CONS to win by default. Happened to Clinton.

by Anonymousreply 292September 21, 2019 2:57 AM

Talking heads on the media political shows keep PUSHING Jagmeet Singh saying "How wonderful" his response was, and how great his campaign is going, and how great public speaker he is.

So it is almost like the media wants to push Jagmeet, so he can split the vote and allow Scheer to win.

That is why I think he will lose, if he is the ballot box question.

by Anonymousreply 296September 21, 2019 3:12 AM

I know, R296, but the fact is that most Canadians want an assault rifle ban, the lobby is pushing back with the Cons in their corner. There's an upcoming Fifth Estate about the issue, some Canadians may be swayed by the gun issue.

by Anonymousreply 297September 21, 2019 3:17 AM

I think Singh is attacking Trudeau because he's hoping to sway some disillusioned left Libs to vote NDP. He's not likely to draw many votes from Cons, and may fear that attacking Scheer for his regressive statements and policies may make encourage strategic voting for the Libs.
Wasn't 'blackface' an issue not because white people put black paint on their face, but instead, it was about black people not being able to play black characters, and as such were played by white people?

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not but I'll pretend you are.

First: Black people were able to play black characters, producers just didn't want them and they didn't think audiences wanted them either. In the early 1900s several black films were released featuring black actors not wearing black face. Prior to that, in the theater, it's a little confusing and dicey.

Second: As a matter of fact at one point, when any black person wanted to participate in the theater it was thought that they still had to wear blackface. Yes, black people were forced to wear blackface even if they were already black because the thinking at the time was that they had to look like "funny" caricatures.

Third: Characters in blackface weren't just playing "black" characters, they were also playing racist stereotypes of black characters.

Frank Graves of Ekos hints in a new tweet a few hours ago that his polling shows that the Conservatives have shot up, at the expense of the Liberals who have fallen like a rock. And this is a pollster that leans Liberal.

Four weeks is not enough time to turn this around - For Justin Trudeau IT'S OVER

Sorry but we have to face reality

by Anonymousreply 336September 22, 2019 12:58 AM

Four weeks is also a lifetime in a politics and things can change again.

I agree with you that the Conservatives may win, but without knowing how the debates will go and the rest of the campaign, it's too early to tell.

by Anonymousreply 337September 22, 2019 12:59 AM

I hope you're right, R337, but who really pays attention to debates? I don't think the general public cares. I'm so stressed out, I just want this to be over already.

by Anonymousreply 338September 22, 2019 1:02 AM

R337 Trudeau needs to gain 7 points in 4 weeks to win a majority - I agree with R338 The debates are meaningless

While many Canadians say they don't think Trudeau a racist, the seed is now implanted into people with the thinking "Do we want a PM to represent us on the world stage after being seen in Blackface?" - That is what it is going to come down to, And if the ballot box issue is on that question, Trudeau loses.

by Anonymousreply 339September 22, 2019 1:04 AM

If the Libs lose, then they need to ditch Trudeau and start fresh. I'm worried that he's going to be seen as damaged goods. They need to start focusing on 2023 and rebuilding.

by Anonymousreply 340September 22, 2019 1:08 AM

R340 Conservatives are masters at manipulating the media and creating narratives - If they win, they'll be in power for at least ten years.

by Anonymousreply 341September 22, 2019 1:10 AM

Scheer has zero, possibly negative, appeal as a leader. Between holding Quebec and most of Ontario, the Libs should squeak by with a minority.

by Anonymousreply 342September 22, 2019 1:15 AM

Possibly, but as long as the Libs finish at least 2nd, and ahead of the NDP, they will be in a good position to rebuild.

The Libs were much worse off in the 2011 Election when Ignatieff dropped them to 3rd place. That probably won't happen here.

And if Trudeau can hang onto the Quebec seats, that will also give the Liberals something going forward.

by Anonymousreply 343September 22, 2019 1:15 AM
Between holding Quebec and most of Ontario, the Libs should squeak by with a minority.

Frank Graves of Ekos is polling only in Ontario, and he has just hinted in a tweet Liberal are falling like a rock

by Anonymousreply 344September 22, 2019 1:18 AM

Maybe not, R341. People will tire of Scheer. He's completely unlikable and will start to ruin the country the way Ford has ruined Ontario. I don't know who the Libs have in mind to replace Trudeau, (and you know the upper echelon of the party has already thought about this), but it'd better be someone solid.

A Lib leadership race could be very interesting. I never thought I'd say this, but I think they'd best ditch Trudeau if he loses. If he wins, then things could be different - they could "repackage" him as someone who did something stupid, rose above, tried to make amends etc... I like Freeland, but she lacks sparkle and you know the Cons will come at her because of her grandfather.

by Anonymousreply 345September 22, 2019 1:18 AM
People will tire of Scheer. He's completely unlikable and will start to ruin the country the way Ford has ruined Ontario.

Before blackface came out, Scheer was rising in CTV/Nanos polls, despite all of videos Liberals were releasing on his candidates. Nanos said when Scheer starting calling Trudeau a liar that just a chord with voters who started to flock to him.

by Anonymousreply 346September 22, 2019 1:22 AM

If the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and the Attorney General of VA were conservative they would have been forced out but because they are liberal they were not. It's funny the libs are given a pass but the conservatives aren't?

by Anonymousreply 347September 22, 2019 1:24 AM

People have already tired of Scheer, which is why the Cons won't win.

by Anonymousreply 348September 22, 2019 1:26 AM

To some voters, wet cardboard Scheer is seen as the antidote to theatrical Trudeau. People tire of drama queens.

by Anonymousreply 349September 22, 2019 1:26 AM

I know, R346, but let him try and lead the country for a few years if the Cons get in. People will tire of him quickly. Trudeau had a lot of "baggage" (much of it untrue or exaggerated - SNC, border crisis, Carbon Tax etc...) the blackface scandal made things worse.

by Anonymousreply 350September 22, 2019 1:26 AM
People have already tired of Scheer, which is why the Cons won't win.

People said that about Stephen Harper and he was PM for ten years.

by Anonymousreply 351September 22, 2019 1:31 AM

I'm going to say something Politically Incorrect and probably viewed as racist in itself: French Quebecois have all the Cultural sensitivity and awareness of a 1970's Archie Bunker trying to break bread with his Jewish son- in-law. In other words, none. No one seems to acknowledge that before his Political dalliance Trudeau spent many of his formative years in the Cloistered Vacuum that is Quebec- and if you need to understand what I'm talking about, just qatch any Celine Dion Interview pre her Las Vegas days, *Shudder*. In all likelihood, Trudeau probably thought everytime he put on blackface he was joining a brotherhood- I truly feel such was his naivite.

If you don't believe me, let me leave you with this little gem: When I finally went back to visit my French Canadian friend, an exchange student who hails from Montreal ( and I who hail from N.C.) I exclaimed at the bizarre visage of seeing the Colonel's " Poulet Frit a la Kentucky" in the delightful city, her casual francophone remark was, "Ah, you have them too??"

Yes. The French are that Oblique.

by Anonymousreply 352September 22, 2019 1:33 AM

R351, yes, Harper was in power for long than expected but remember that he had the advantage of going up against the Liberals when they were in their weakest position in history.

by Anonymousreply 353September 22, 2019 1:40 AM

Who frigging cares?

by Anonymousreply 354September 22, 2019 1:48 AM

There's some underlying low self-esteem here: "Who would darken their skin if it was white?'

Nik Nanos says his polling shows the Conservative are continuing to widen their lead into majority territory while the Liberal are falling like a rock

For Justin Trudeau - IT'S OVER

by Anonymousreply 356September 22, 2019 2:36 AM

Yes, we know what Nik Nanos says. You've posted it several times.

That's not what all the other pollsters are saying, and there's a month left.

by Anonymousreply 357September 22, 2019 2:45 AM

Trudeau no longer attractive. Racism is such a turn-off. But think of the alternative, Canada. Do you really want Scheer?

by Anonymousreply 361September 22, 2019 3:37 AM

Doing black face once in a college skit wouldn't be an issue. What's the count now? Three times and he doesn't remember how many total. That's now a trend. And not a good one.

by Anonymousreply 362September 22, 2019 3:50 AM

Daddy's dead, his mother is a world famous whore with bipolar disease and his little brother died in an avalanche. Margaret labelled Justin, "her little prince." Hmm. Justin wants to be an actor. Ever since that over the top eulogy, he's been acting like a Prime Minister. BUT - he most enjoys dressing up, makeup, dancing and parades!

by Anonymousreply 363September 22, 2019 4:04 AM

Justin's a racist douchebag. He's going down.

by Anonymousreply 364September 22, 2019 5:44 AM

There has got to be some dirt on Scheer. Something that will stick, since so far his racisim and homophobia hasn't. Maybe the stuff about his marriage will finally come out.

by Anonymousreply 365September 22, 2019 6:11 AM

R365, what's the story on Scheer's marriage?

I remember a year ago here there was some supposed 'political insider' who claimed that we would be hearing a bombshell about Scheer by the time of the Canadian Election, but it doesn't seem to have happened yet.

by Anonymousreply 366September 22, 2019 10:25 AM

Yeah I love how all the liberals are excusing him on this one.

by Anonymousreply 368September 22, 2019 2:46 PM

R347: Yes, isn't it funny how liberals, who's policies help ethnic and racial minorities, are given the benefit of the doubt, and rightfully so, while conservatives, who HATE minorities and actively hurt them, rightfully deserve none? How funny.

R356: I'm sure you've had an erection for days since this broke, Justin Trudeau Concern Troll. I'd take care of that sooner rather than later, could cause heart problems, given your obesity. Best get that picture of Scheer in a jockstrap out and rub one out to it. It'll be good for your health.

by Anonymousreply 369September 22, 2019 3:43 PM

Pandering to then is not "helping" them, R369.

by Anonymousreply 370September 22, 2019 3:50 PM

All the pics were public knowledge for decades- but now they 'surface'?

by Anonymousreply 371September 22, 2019 4:02 PM

I think David Akin knew for sometime about them, R371. When the Liberals started going after Scheer for his homophobic remarks, Akin tweeted something vague about the Cons having stuff on the Liberals. I can't remember exactly what he said but I read it as a threat of sorts.

by Anonymousreply 372September 22, 2019 4:06 PM

For the record, I don’t think Trudeau is hot.

If someone dresses in blackface, or like someone from another culture to look like a particular character or person, it is nor racist. It is trying hard to look like that person. If o want to dress up as Diana Ross and keep my skin white and hair blond/straight, no one will know who I am dressing up as.

If someone dresses up as a black thug, a Pakistani gas station attendant, an Asian manicurist, or any other racial stereotype, then yes, he is being racist.

People have to get some common sense and some thicker skin.
