Jane Lynch Reveals Netflix Show with Cyndi Lauper

Lynch revealed that, in the show, "We're our age, I'm almost 60, she's 65, and we're looking for our next act without having had husbands or children. There will be two other folks in it who haven't been cast yet. It's kind of a 'Golden Girls' for today."

So what do you think? And who should be cast in the other two roles?

Betty White, of COURSE!

by Anonymousreply 1September 16, 2019 4:08 AM

No one. If these two cunts are in it, I'm already out.

by Anonymousreply 2September 16, 2019 4:09 AM

Why does Cyndi still sound like a four year old? You know she sounds like Bea Author when she's at home.

by Anonymousreply 3September 16, 2019 4:17 AM

One of the old bags from SATC.

by Anonymousreply 4September 16, 2019 4:19 AM

Grace & Frankie is on their last season so this isn't a shock they'd try and find something similar to replace it with but it almost seems like it would end up being the same kind of show anyway with this dynamic.

by Anonymousreply 5September 16, 2019 4:22 AM

Jane Lynch always plays Jane Lynch. Has she ever played an actual character?

by Anonymousreply 6September 16, 2019 4:25 AM

How about Kate Jackson and Diahann Carroll taking the other two parts?

by Anonymousreply 7September 16, 2019 4:26 AM

Marcia Gay Harden

Faith Ford

by Anonymousreply 8September 16, 2019 4:28 AM

R6 isn’t that persona a pretty decent successor to the Bea Arthur character on GG?

Interesting that the original GGs were 10 years younger than this new iteration.

by Anonymousreply 9September 16, 2019 4:28 AM

Yeah, I would imagine Jane's character would be the Dorothy of the group with Cyndi maybe as the Rose (I can't imagine her as the Blanche type).

by Anonymousreply 10September 16, 2019 4:31 AM

Terri Hatcher and the fat blonde one from that awful Amy Poehler movie about Napa.

by Anonymousreply 11September 16, 2019 4:39 AM

Sounds fun — does Jane Lynch have to be in it?

by Anonymousreply 12September 16, 2019 4:41 AM

I’d like to see someone like Mo Gaffney take Jane Lynch to task.

by Anonymousreply 13September 16, 2019 4:43 AM

None of you remember Julie and Julia? Jane was fucking brilliant...seriously.

by Anonymousreply 14September 16, 2019 4:45 AM

Tatum O'Neal and Rosie O'Donnell

by Anonymousreply 15September 16, 2019 4:59 AM

Let Mo do the character from Absolutely Fabulous when she was a televangelist.

by Anonymousreply 16September 16, 2019 5:00 AM

They should have gotten Jennifer Coolidge instead of Cyndi.

Cyndi just isn't likable.

by Anonymousreply 17September 16, 2019 5:06 AM

Madonna and Parker Posey

by Anonymousreply 18September 16, 2019 6:14 AM

We all remember Vibes, Cyndi cannot act

by Anonymousreply 19September 16, 2019 6:21 AM

Cyndi is older? Yes of course she is. But she's always young to me.

by Anonymousreply 20September 16, 2019 7:20 AM

Cyndi won an Emmy for guest performance

by Anonymousreply 21September 16, 2019 10:46 AM

[quote]I’d like to see someone like Mo Gaffney take Jane Lynch to task.

Mo and Kathy Nijimy! Time for a Kathy & Mo reunion. Wonder if they still talk.

R21, IIRC, that was for her appearance on “Mad About You.”

by Anonymousreply 23September 16, 2019 1:26 PM

When the Golden Girls premiered, Rue was the youngest at 51 and Betty was the oldest at 63.

The actresses for a new Golden Girls, if they were in the same age range, would go from Parker Posey and Naomi Watts to Geena Davis and Gillian Anderson.

Pretty weird, huh?

by Anonymousreply 24September 16, 2019 1:43 PM

No, Just Mo.

by Anonymousreply 25September 16, 2019 3:14 PM

Cyndi will be a Pheobe like character from friends more than a Rose from GG.

by Anonymousreply 26September 16, 2019 3:18 PM

I agree that Jane Lynch always plays the part of Jane Lynch. You've seen her in something, you've seen her in everything.

by Anonymousreply 27September 16, 2019 3:20 PM

The same could be said for Bea. Bea played Bea in everything she did.

by Anonymousreply 28September 16, 2019 3:42 PM

Just realized Cyndi just need an Oscar to complete her EGOT. But looks like it’s not a priority for her or she could just write an Oscar-worthy song.

by Anonymousreply 29September 16, 2019 4:22 PM

Lynch is such a one note performer, you can watch her in several different projects and think that they are all the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 30September 16, 2019 4:25 PM

I'm in - love them both and Lauper is actually very funny when she has the right material.

by Anonymousreply 31September 16, 2019 4:32 PM

Remember that hilarious episode of Queer As Folk when Cyndi almost got blown up performing in a gay bar by some homophobic Christian terrorist?

by Anonymousreply 32September 16, 2019 4:35 PM

It IS weird r24. Kim Cattrall, Geena Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Sharon Stone are all currently around the same age that Betty White, Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty were during the first season or two of GG. Gillian Anderson and Nicole Kidman are around the same age Rue was. Kind of mind-blowing when you think about how youthful they still look compared to actresses from back then.

by Anonymousreply 33September 16, 2019 4:37 PM

Cause actresses now put more effort into it. Also were the golden girls actresses ever considered typical beauties? Betty White looked her age back then. Now actresses try to look at least 15 years younger.

by Anonymousreply 34September 16, 2019 4:43 PM

Jane looks like Rose’s evil sister.

by Anonymousreply 35September 16, 2019 4:47 PM

Telma Hopkins

Pam Grier

Pam Dawber

Terminator woman (who said she hasn't had sex in 15 years)

by Anonymousreply 36September 16, 2019 4:52 PM

It's weird to think how the SATC ladies are already pretty much old enough to be The Golden Girls now.

by Anonymousreply 37September 16, 2019 5:05 PM

I think Rue look young and her age in the first season. Especially when she was slimmer.

by Anonymousreply 38September 16, 2019 5:22 PM

Jane Lynch has some range. She was pretty funny in Party Down.

by Anonymousreply 39September 16, 2019 5:39 PM

Sandra Bernhard and Lindsay Lohan.

by Anonymousreply 40September 16, 2019 5:47 PM

[quote] Jane was fucking brilliant

by Anonymousreply 41September 16, 2019 5:51 PM

Maybe Goldie Hawn for the "Rose" role.

by Anonymousreply 42September 16, 2019 6:18 PM

Maybe when Patty Heaton's new show tanks, she can join this crapfest.

by Anonymousreply 43September 16, 2019 6:19 PM

[quote]Lynch is such a one note performer, you can watch her in several different projects and think that they are all the same thing.

For Christ's sake, you can say that about every actor in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 44September 16, 2019 6:42 PM

R44 Gary Oldman, Sam Rockwell, Tilda Swinton, Meryl Streep?

by Anonymousreply 45September 16, 2019 6:55 PM

I like them both. Vibes was 32 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 46September 16, 2019 7:20 PM

I'll check it out, I love Cyndi, and she was hilarious in her guest role on Mad About You in the 90s. She was good in Life with Mikey, as well.

Vibes was a terrible movie, but frequently when I go to the movies I tell people, "Do you know how hard it is to buy Goobers when you're outta your body?"

by Anonymousreply 47September 17, 2019 12:14 AM

[quote]For Christ's sake, you can say that about every actor in Hollywood.

If you say so, Toots.

by Anonymousreply 48September 17, 2019 12:35 AM

Jane Lynch was a guest host on The Talk yesterday. Her personality is nothing if not off-putting. Her energy was so harsh, I no longer can look at her performances with an open mind or heart.
