I thought the show wrote themselves in a corner regarding Fred and Perry's sudden death since Archie was so paranoid and protective of his dad after Fred got shot in the diner. But I think they found a way where Archie doesn't fall apart for good, because his dad died.

I removed it from my DVR. I loved Archie Comics as a kid, so I hung in with this show for as long as I could, but it's a mess. I prefer Sabrina.

This season is about the backstory of the ominous flashforward from last season where Archie and the others burned Jughead's hat in a bonfire.

Personally, I think I like Riverdale a little bit better than Sabrina. At least Riverdale doesn’t take itself as seriously, it knows it’s campy. The characters in Riverdale are supposed to be annoying and whiny and at least slightly unlikable, whereas Sabrina tells you to root for and care about the annoying and whiny ones (here’s looking at you Harvey and Susie). Not to mention Riverdale shows off its eye candy way more.

Cole Sprouse as Jughead is the best part of Riverdale.

Don't know if it was the (low) budget or MTV sabotaging Davis' creative vision with their more conservative demands. There were glimpses of something that could be cool and great, but then so many balls got dropped that characters and story lines turned into underwhelming messes.

It just felt like the whole production struggled to come up with a solution for problems that occurred out of the blue (like Colton Haynes leaving) and that happened constantly.

What's sad is that Jeff is a fan of Buffy and tried to have Allison be that character lol. I think MTV and having a low budget didn't help. But i just don't think he's that good of a writer either sadly.

I honestly prefer Teen Wolf. It never took itself too seriously, and occasionally there were moments of genuine acting skill (Dylan O’Brien did a wonderful job with that japanese demon arc, he’s surprisingly the best dramatic actor in that cast). Most of it was dumb, homoerotic teen shit, but it knew what it was and it had fun with it. They never wasted time, there was always plenty of gratuitous skin, and it was just engrossing enough yet just dumb enough to keep you invested. It’s the gold standard of teen show in my opinion.

Not to mention all the wonderful dick pics it gifted us. Thank you, Jeff, you always feed the gays well.

As for Casey Cott being shirtless, I just checked out his IMDB. He doesn't have a long resume. An SVU and a video short before Riverdale. There is no way some two-credit having young actor can dictate or negotiate in a contract not being shirtless on a teen show about hot guys, when there are a million young actors who would readily do that.

I think the production doesn't want him to be shirtless for some reason. Personally, I always thought he was miscast.

I love Archie Comics. I read them growing up and still go through my old collection from time to time. I watched this show for the first three seasons and then gave up. I like the dark focus and the supernatural elements of the series, but for me the only thing the show has really gotten right is casting KJ Apa as Archie.

Casey Cott gets on my nerves. He clearly has a lot of insecurities and anxieties, particularly centered around how he looks and how he's seen by the public, which always bugs me in an actor. If you have public anxiety or body dysmorphia or anything why become an actor? Go into real estate, don't steal jobs from other more willing and capable actors only to spend your whole career doing the on-screen equivalent of the towel dance.

And on Riverdale they already got college acceptance letters (the ones who go to college) indicating that they are about to graduate that year.

The latest episode is the first one where I fast forwarded through several scenes. Kevin, as Hedwig, "kissing" Archie was played for laughs, but was really pathetic. Especially since another kiss scene with Archie, in the same episode, is supposed to be a serious, dramatic game changer.

Cott should've been replaced with someone who's more appreciative of his character making out with guys a long time ago. How fitting that Kerr Smith (one kiss with another guy is more than enough for my character on Dawson's Creek!) a regular on the show now.

Riverdale seems like a slave nightmare behind the scenes. KJ Apa had a car accident when he fell asleep while driving (because he was working for 16 hours) back home. His co-star, Cole Sprouse, was supposed to be with him in the car but was held back on set.

The payment thing is an issue. But Riverdale is bad at writing all characters and races. Being involved in the Serpents are a Native American resistance group should have clued her in on that.

While the cast of 13 Reasons Why love their show and champion it every way they can, the cast of Riverdale famously deride and make fun of the show they're in all the time, it's amusing really. I sense they really hate being in a show so badly written but still love the paycheck.
