Heather Graham is almost 50, but I’m sure she could pass for late thirties in the “real world” if people didn’t know who she was. Similarly, Salma Hayek and Halle Berry could pass for early forties compared to the average woman.

I disagree that Ryan Phillippe looks mid-20s at OP's post. Looking at tons of photos of aging actors, I conclude it's the thinning eyebrows that make them look older. Easy fix: microblade some extra "hairs" on the brows.

I've seen plenty of pics with Ryan looking like a puffy 40 yo lesbian.

R4 Halle Berry’s current hairstyle seems to age her a bit, but no denying she looks amazing overall.

But why so surprised? To look younger, keep the grey away for starters. And don't dress like a rural midwestern grandpa. Don't let someone know your age until they've gotten to know you. If you know someone is 20 something, you will not see them as older even if they look older. If you know someone is 40 something, you will not see them as younger even if they look younger.

The bad thing about being a really young looking 40-60 year old is that there will always be lighting situations, or moments where they're tired or not feeling well, when they will suddenly look unmistakably their real age and it can be quite jarring. When Phillippe smiles he looks his age, which is probably why he never smiles.

Really, it isn't that difficult. #1 tip is hair. Keep the greys away and it takes off a good 10+ years at least. For women, watch your neck and decolletage area for sun damage. Take a reasonable amount of care of your skin and you will stay youthful looking for a long time if you don't dress old.

My ex's mom was 65 when we started dating. When he introduced me, I could not believe it. She looked in her 40's but a good 40's. She said her secret was oily skin, a great skin care routine, some genetic help, always colored her hair, never had a granny hairstyle or fashion. She was in shape as well. She is now 75. I saw her late last year and she still looked amazing. She could pass for a very good looking late 40's/early 50's.

Below is a picture of Rudd from "Wet Hot American Summer." He was 30 or 31 at the time, but looks about 19 or 20.

This had come up in an earlier thread about why people looked so much older years ago, but part of it is due to the fact that Hollywood frequently casts very young looking 20something actors because they can play teen roles and they have a long shelf life playing men considerably younger than their real age.

Compare George Clooney to Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. They are all about the same age. (Clooney is 58, Cruise is 57, Pitt is 55) But Clooney has always looked much older than the other two and could never play the same man/boy roles, while Pitt and Cruise couldn't pull off the sophisticated middle aged man roles Clooney excelled at.
