World of Warcraft Classic FTW!

I have reached level 20, WOOT!

by Anonymousreply 2September 4, 2019 2:02 AM

Red Dead Redemption 2. On my third play through, Arthur is the daddy bear I never knew I wanted. x

by Anonymousreply 3September 4, 2019 2:03 AM

I'm really looking forward to the FF7 remake.

by Anonymousreply 4September 4, 2019 2:57 AM

R02 Classic too, but I'm Lv 12 as I've had other distractions.

by Anonymousreply 5September 4, 2019 4:10 AM

I've got RDR2, but I'm just not feeling it. MEANWHILE, they keep releasing DLCs for games months after I've finished and deleted them.

by Anonymousreply 6September 4, 2019 11:34 AM

I've been thinking about buying Borderlands 3 but Gearbox CEO Randy Pritchford seems to be a bit of an asshole so I think I'll skip buying it until it's discounted heavily. I wouldn't probably care about him if I was a huge fan of the series but since I'm not Pritchford is as good reason as any to save the money.

I'm still playing Control and I'm still loving it.

by Anonymousreply 7September 6, 2019 9:19 AM

Are there any new decent rpgs?

by Anonymousreply 8September 14, 2019 4:21 PM

Astral Chain is amazing but switch exclusive

by Anonymousreply 9September 14, 2019 4:25 PM

I cannot be the only gaymer who plays League (~_~). One of you bitches better get in botlane with me. I main Bard and Soraka :3 .

by Anonymousreply 10September 14, 2019 6:08 PM

I used to play League and other MOBAs like overwatch but the most of the users are always nasty and take all the fun out of playing. I don't play videogames to be shrieked at

by Anonymousreply 11September 14, 2019 6:17 PM

I've been sucked back into FFVIII Remastered on Switch. For whatever reasons, the parts that other people hate are the parts that I like.

If they'd cleaned up the backgrounds in addition to the character models, I'd have been happier, but I feel like I'm getting my $20 worth.

by Anonymousreply 12September 15, 2019 1:16 AM

Playing Borderlands 3, and the story is dumb as hell, but it’s totally great as a shooter. The gun stuff is endless and almost too complicated. There’s a lot of leveling and rpg skill tree stuff, but it’s mostly just like the older ones, fun as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 13September 15, 2019 5:56 AM

Okay, Control is putting me through IT. I can't beat that fucking anchor or esseJ.

by Anonymousreply 14September 15, 2019 9:23 AM

Just got Borderlands 3, and it’s fun as hell.

by Anonymousreply 15September 16, 2019 3:00 PM

Uhhhhhhh, so I just bought a PS4. Man... I don't know... I'm kind of excited. I was a huge gamer in my youth growing up in the 90s through the mid 00s. Sega, Game Boy, PS1, PS2, N64, Game Cube... I fell off around that era. I briefly had a PS3 and played Red Dead Redemption feverishly, but then returned the console when I was done with the game because there were no other titles out that I wanted to play. Haven't really regretted it.

Came into some extra money this year and the PS4 Slim's not all that expensive and there are a couple games I wanna play so I thought, why not? I got God of War and I'll get Red Dead Redemption 2 sometime before Wednesday. I'm considering getting the newest Kingdom Hearts down the line, and perhaps Last of Us in anticipation of the sequel. This feels like a pretty big step for whatever reason. It's been so long since I've played video games.

by Anonymousreply 16October 7, 2019 2:38 AM

I finished Control last weekend and can't wait for the DLCs. I'm currently wondering what to play next. I started playing Detroit: Become Human and played for an hour or so but quite honestly I'm not really feeling it. I tried to get back to The Witness but the game is so horrendously badly made that I started getting motion sickness after only 30 seconds. That made me finally gave up on the game and I uninstalled it. Such a shame since I was really enjoying the puzzles. It's actually quite amazing how most games don't have any problems with motion sickness, like Control where you are constantly moving and flying around, but a simple game where you only walk in a placid environment makes you want to throw up. I'm seriously disliking The Witness developer right now since the game's motion sickness is a known problem and apparently they've done nothing to rectify the issue, even though they've been raking in cash from the game for years already.

I did try to return to The Witcher 3 as well but I couldn't remember the controls and kept dying for 5 minutes so I was like ok.

by Anonymousreply 17October 10, 2019 8:52 PM

I’m hoping Blizzard takes a step back over the ban and prize retraction. That’s enough to make me suspend my accounts and look for another game.

The irony is Warcraft has been plagued for years, first with chinese players wrecking the game economy. Now, the source code was stolen and reappeared as a complete clone.

Yet Blizzard is kowtowing to chinese censorship.

by Anonymousreply 18October 10, 2019 8:57 PM

I'm just curious - do aldult video game players hide all the stash when other adults come over...like it's a porn collection or something?

Or does no one come over?

by Anonymousreply 19October 10, 2019 9:02 PM

R18, Tencent, the world's largest gaming company which just happens to be Chinese, owns 5% of Blizzard. That's probably one of the biggest reasons Blizzard's been acting the way it has. BTW, Tencent owns 40% of Epic Games, 5% of Ubisoft, among many other gaming companies. One might wonder is the Chinese government behind it all and is using games as a mean to control discussion about China.

R19, there's really nothing to be ashamed about since most people these days have played computer, handheld or console games in one way or another during their lives. Anyone trying to shame others for playing is just showing their ignorance.

by Anonymousreply 20October 10, 2019 9:19 PM

Most of my friends also play videogames lol. And even those that don't play now, used to. Pretty much every guy under 35 has spent at least some time as a gamer. So no, there's nothing to hide.

by Anonymousreply 21October 10, 2019 10:15 PM

Borderlands 3 and The Outer Worlds are both on my list of games.

However, I would rather get them through Steam than Epic game store since the Epic store is so half-assed and I'd rather have all my games in a single location.

by Anonymousreply 22October 11, 2019 12:38 AM

I LOATHE the epic game store. I came very close to not buying Control because I hate that piece of shit store. Worst of all it tries to forcibly install Fortnight on your machine without your consent. And they are FAR less consumer friendly than steam.

/rant

by Anonymousreply 23October 11, 2019 12:53 AM

Less consumer friendly? Epic Store keeps giving you free games all the time, something I've never seen Steam doing. A few weeks ago the whole Batman Arkham trilogy was free. One big negative thing about Epic is that Tencent owns 40% of it, but well, it remains to be seen how that really affects things. Developers love Epic Store because Epic takes a smaller cut than Steam. BTW, I've never understood why Steam is somehow seen as a more noble store than other game stores. It's just another shop and Valve is taking 20% to 30% cut from games they sell through Steam, Epic takes 12%. Apparently it's much more lucrative for Valve to sell games others make than to return to making games themselves. The whole Steam community thing reminds me of Apple and the way they manufactured a religious-like tribe around their products, but unlike Apple which has been creating great and not-so-great products over the years Valve is practically nothing more than a store. People defending Steam over Epic Store is like people defending Walmart over Target, it's just as silly.

by Anonymousreply 24October 11, 2019 2:18 AM

The Epic store lacks significant features and functions, including something as basic as a shopping cart (last I checked) and most of the community features. It no longer bothers with providing a roadmap for future development and has not even actually completed features it claims to have delivered.

While I can understand Epic games having a exclusivity and even smaller developers choosing to release through them due to the revenue model, they've done some pretty shady things to buy exclusivity from other developers. Even some of the crowdfunded developers who stated categorically that the game would be released on Steam to get funding from people were paid to go Epic exclusive. If it were merely a channel choice, that would be one thing. But, they are actually paying developers not to release through Steam.

While I don't care about waiting out the exclusivity period, a lot of folks do.

by Anonymousreply 25October 11, 2019 3:20 AM

And yet Steam is just another online shop. Sure if you need to keep contact with your gaming buddies through Steam it's understandable but seriously, Valve is taking almost a third of the money from practically all indie developers, and yet people act like Steam should be seen as the best game store. I can only imagine how much stealth PR Valve has been doing behind the scenes over the years to make their customers this brainwashed.

by Anonymousreply 26October 11, 2019 9:50 AM

And yet, it's not just another online shop as you keep insisting. Epic is functionally inferior to Steam and the move to online connectivity is significant - it is a huge trend that is growing. Keeping all your games and backups in single location matters for people who play a lot of games. It's not just keeping up and saying "hi" to online friends. For many people who stream or manage content, it's an important vehicle.

Their "cloud" backups have wiped out game progress on multiple titles for huge numbers of players. They do not offer pre-loading on most titles which for some players is critical when they have limited bandwith and the games can literally take hours to download.

Not to mention a massive data breach and some questionable uses of customer data.

Steam is the better store for consumers, though perhaps not for indie devs - for whom it does make sense to go with an exclusive since they provide such a big upfront lump sum of money that devs may need to complete the game.

For a casual player, Epic is probably fine. But, I can understand why the gaming people are irritated when major titles go to Epic.

It's not PR or brainwashing. At this stage Epic store is years behind in storefront development.

by Anonymousreply 27October 11, 2019 5:35 PM

R27, thanks for explaining. Still, the response from the Steam enthusiasts who downvote and diss the games of the developers who went with Epic seems childish and idiotic. The game should always be judged by its own merits and not by the store it's bought from. Especially when the presumably better store is taking a way more bigger cut from the smaller developers.

Still, I do get the points you're making. I'm most certainly a casual gamer myself, and on top of that mostly a PS4 boy. I have bought a few games and software from Steam and quite honestly I've never really liked using it. It feels like a totally needless platform between me and the game. Valve has been very clever with the way they force the users to keep Steam running when playing games bought from them. Sometimes you even have to keep it running when using the software bought through them which is just absolutely ridiculous. And yes, people who seem to treat using Steam almost like it's a religious experience seem to be brainwashed to a point. Valve has inserted itself between the game and the player and people like you don't seem to see anything weird about it.

by Anonymousreply 28October 12, 2019 11:52 PM

I'm loving Red Dead Online. Nothing beats role playing as a cowboy in the Heartlands. x

by Anonymousreply 29October 12, 2019 11:55 PM

[quote][R27], thanks for explaining. Still, the response from the Steam enthusiasts who downvote and diss the games of the developers who went with Epic seems childish and idiotic. I generally agree with you that the reviews should reflect the actual gameplay, rather than punish a game for its distribution channel choice...except, and you knew there was going to be an except.

There are some who believe that the choice of Epic that does not have a community way to discuss the relative merits of a game is a way to get people to buy bad games. As with pre-ordering, it is a way to optimize developer income before word gets out how bad a game is.

Also, if an indie dev crowdfunded the game and promised to release on Steam, it's a huge FU to people who supported a dev with the explicit understanding that they would have access to the game on Steam.

[quote]Valve has inserted itself between the game and the player and people like you don't seem to see anything weird about it.

You don't really have a basis for opining what "people like me" think about anything. I follow the gaming industry a bit and am aware of the many controversies surrounding both Steam and Epic. I've provided some background information based on what I've learned, but suggest anyone do their own research and drawn their own conclusions regarding either platform.

My only previous point was that I prefer to have all my games on one platform for personal convenience and so am willing to wait out the exclusivity period on several high profile games that I'm interested in playing.

by Anonymousreply 30October 13, 2019 12:14 AM

R30, it seems Valve has managed to make Steam feel so important to you that you'd rather wait for games not available at Steam than buy them elsewhere. If that is not brainwashing I don't know what is. I was a Machead for over 15 years (but finally switched to Windows like 10 years ago) so I know what it's like when a commercial entity manages to make itself feel indispensable to you.

I recently started at a new job and my boss is a graphic designer who hates everything Windows/Android and loves everything Apple. She spent a minute bitching about my Samsung Galaxy S8 being ugly as fuck and saying how perfectly her iPhone is designed. Windows is obviously from Satan. I haven't met people like her for over two decades when I stopped hanging out with Mac zealots, but then again I do understand how much a tribe you feel you belong to can mean. It does get sad when people start attacking their presumed enemies, though.

But relax, I know what you're saying. However you do sound a lot like the people who downvote great games like Control and leave bad reviews just because the developer chose Epic this time around. I played Half-Life 2 a little bit a lifetime ago and if I remember correctly the baddie in the game is a regime that's trying to make their truth the only acceptable reality. I'm reminded of that whenever I think of Valve and how they've created this ecosystem around their store and people who refuse to see beyond it and buy PC games from anywhere else.

by Anonymousreply 31October 13, 2019 10:46 AM

LOL.

If you find it equally convenient to have your games on multiple platforms - great. Epic's marketing has done a epic job of convincing you that actual store functionality doesn't matter. If you're not bothered by the customer data breach and questionable use of customer data by Epic - again, kudos to Epic's PR.

[quote] it seems Valve has managed to make Steam feel so important to you that you'd rather wait for games not available at Steam than buy them elsewhere.

No, it's not important for me in the slightest to stay on Steam, simply more convenient for me. It's easier to organize, access, update, download, and manage for now. As Epic does not provide any superior functionality or service, why would I give up my own convenience?

But, if you feel like it doesn't matter - knock yourself out. You don't seem to care about or want to respond to any of the substantive differences between the two and are more interested in veiled innuendo and ad hominem fallacy with your silly anecdotes about your new boss and the people about whom I remind you.

by Anonymousreply 32October 13, 2019 7:44 PM

The Outer Worlds has been getting great reviews. I'm excited.

by Anonymousreply 33October 22, 2019 10:57 PM

I'm excited for Fallen Jedi. It has been a decade since we've had a decent single player star wars game.

And any other pokegays waiting for sword and shield?

by Anonymousreply 34October 22, 2019 11:10 PM

[quote]ad hominem fallacy

I am pretty sure this term does not actually mean anything.

by Anonymousreply 35October 22, 2019 11:19 PM

R35, he's royally pissed that someone, me, dared to suggest he's been played by a store that sells him goods and services. He's bought Valve's story so deeply that even the thought of buying from a competitor makes him angry. I'm obviously exaggerating but I personally am pissed that Steam fans artificially try to destroy non-Steam games and their sales elsewhere by giving them shitty ratings and reviews even though they haven't even played those particular games. They are trying to force developers to make Valve money, and that's just fucked up. It does make you wonder what's the level of Valve's involvement in the whole mess.

The saddest thing is some of these Valve fans don't even seem to realize they are doing the bidding of a commercial entity that's making tens and possibly hundreds of millions a year from selling other developers' games. They see their cause as something noble when they in fact are only working for a glorified online shop.

by Anonymousreply 36October 23, 2019 5:31 PM

I'm the guy who recently bought a PS4. I finished Red Dead Redemption 2 a couple days ago and let me tell you that was a beautiful game! I remember loving RDR on the PS3, but this takes the series to a completely different level, not just technologically, but emotionally. I found myself crying during the climax of the story... I don't think I've ever cried while playing a game. I was truly moved. There's so much more to do in the game even though I've finished the story. I want to complete all the challenges and legendary animals and random collections and such.

For now though, I've switched to God of War. I also played this series, so I was curious to see what they did with it on the PS4. So far, I'm having quite the blast. It's a different game on this console to an extent... the camera is different, the way you move through the world is different... the kid is different, but I think it grounds the story and enriches it with a bit more weight. I do miss the Greek mythology, but am learning more about Norse mythology, so that's cool. It's a challenging game... a more in depth fighting mechanic than Red Dead Redemption 2. Having a good time!

I'm gonna play Last of Us after this because, while I'm loving the fanciful world of God of War, I do miss the realism of RDR2.

Anyhoo, happy gaming!

by Anonymousreply 37October 27, 2019 2:03 AM

I've played like an hour of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order on PS4. Love it. It took like 10 seconds to totally feel like you're in the Star Wars universe.

by Anonymousreply 38December 8, 2019 5:23 PM

I'm also playing Fallen Order and constantly getting lost. I hate 3D mapping.

by Anonymousreply 39December 9, 2019 10:09 AM

The mapping is incredibly annoying, one of the major misses in Jedi. Also, no fast travel. Blech. But otherwise, one of my favorite games in years. It seems like Dark Souls lite to me, and that’s just fine. Going to go back and play it on the hardest level soon. I absolutely loved the finale of the game, big emotions were earned. Dramatically, it was better than most of the latest Star Wars movies. Respawn did a great job.

by Anonymousreply 40December 9, 2019 11:51 AM

I love it. I found Sekiro too hard but this is perfect. I'm enjoying the story two. It was a great call bringing in the nightsisters.

by Anonymousreply 41December 10, 2019 1:32 PM

Also I played through the new Pokemon and it's great. So many great new ones and a lot of great character designs as well.

Some of the new gym leaders are kind of hot

by Anonymousreply 42December 10, 2019 1:32 PM

I believe Sekiro is by the creators of Niho and that game whupped my ass. I missed the beta of Niho 2 by a few days. I've got Call of Duty primed and ready after Fallen Order.

How often do you guys play? Honestly, I play from 5 to 7 Monday- Fri while I'm watching--or listening to--Wolf Blitzer and then Erin Burnett. Whenever I hear that god awful Jeanne Moss and her dumb quirky segment I know its time shut down.

by Anonymousreply 43December 10, 2019 1:40 PM

IGN's Game of the Year 2019 is Control. I totally loved the game and this makes me so happy. I thought it had no chance of winning any of the major awards but this is one of the biggest there is, and I'm glad I was wrong. Control's not a perfect game but really I've enjoyed playing it probably the most this year. It's just so bloody stylish and they totally nailed the mood. Can't wait for the DLCs.

by Anonymousreply 44December 10, 2019 6:18 PM

To all those playing PoGo: it's Community Day today and tomorrow. Lots of amazing Pokemon with CD movesets are available. I recommend playing today between 11 am and 2 pm, Swinub and Bagon are will spawn in large numbers, both really good Pokemon.

by Anonymousreply 45December 14, 2019 7:45 AM

I just started Control after seeing it won another GOTY after IGN. I’m liking it so far.

by Anonymousreply 46December 17, 2019 1:48 AM

R46, I love Control. I've been playing the free new Expeditions DLC with the new timed missions game mode the past few days and it's HARD. I almost beat the easiest one of the timed missions Tier 1 today but missed by like 30 seconds... I was like NOOOOOOOO. There are 3 Tiers and I can only imagine how long the last two are gonna take. Still, this is just what I wanted.

BTW, I'm usually more into Bioware style huge RPG's and I was afraid Control wouldn't satisfy me but I was wrong. The game's world is so well-made that you just enjoy being there and it looks so gorgeous. It's probably not the most emotional experience but that suits me just fine.

by Anonymousreply 47December 17, 2019 2:41 AM

OMG I HATED Red Dead Redemption 2! I played it for over a week and just couldn't get past the sheer boredom of it. Got to take a bath? Which arm do you want to scrub? I hate RPG's though. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and hated Knights of the Old Republic for the same reason...meet a character, yak yak, do obvious side mission, engage in combat? Sit back and let your character do all the work. Ugh. Bleh, no thanks.

I have heard mixed things about Fallen Order. I have been putting off getting it since I understand that if you die, you have to keep repeating shit which is one of my biggest turn offs with games like that.

Does anyone here own an Occulus? I love mine!!

by Anonymousreply 48December 17, 2019 3:19 AM

I bought a developer version of Oculus Rift 5 years ago. It was awesome to use for a short while but I always got terrible motion sickness after only like 30 minutes. I did play Alien: Isolation in VR and let me tell you that was terrifying. Unfortunately the motion sickness was so terrible I always had to pretty much go lie down for hours afterwards which is why I haven't touched the goggles for like 4 years now.

I love well-made RPGs that have engaging stories with satisfying combat playing, and that's why the Mass Effect trilogy is still my all time favorite. I stayed away from RDR2 because I kept seeing people complaining about how slow and tedious it is. I've played Fallen Order for a few hours and so far I'm loving it. They've done a great job making you really believe you're in the Star Wars universe. However I only have that much time for playing and Control's DLC totally trumped Fallen Order so Control it is for now.

by Anonymousreply 49December 17, 2019 3:35 AM

Been playing the hell out of The Outer Worlds the last couple weeks. Love it. It has a classic Fallout feel to it. Lots of great silly NPC characters and dialog options. Very deep and lengthy missions.

by Anonymousreply 50December 17, 2019 5:05 AM

LOVED Control. It's like if Half Life 2 was made in modern times and that's the highest praise I can give to a video game.

OMG R49 I adore the mass effect trilogy. It's probably my favorite series as well. I also loved Dragon Age Origins but the rest of the series was hot garbage.

Control and Sekiro were great, well made games. But my favorite thing I played this year was pokomon. So well done. They added one in particular called Cursola, the evolution of Corsola, the coral pokemon. Cursola represents bleached coral and is now ghost type.

R51, have you played the free Expeditions DLC yet? It's fucking hard. I've tried to beat Tier 1 for a week now and it' s not happening. Still, not sure I want it any other way.

by Anonymousreply 52December 20, 2019 12:18 PM

Just beat Horizon Zero Dawn. I know I'm late but what an incredible journey. One of the best videogame stories ever

by Anonymousreply 53February 5, 2020 1:09 AM

You Pete Stan's remind me of the Beto Stans. If anyone criticizes Beto in any way you just put him on ignore. How did that work for Beto?

by Anonymousreply 54February 5, 2020 1:29 AM

Wrong thread. Sorry

by Anonymousreply 55February 5, 2020 1:30 AM

There's a Dragon Quest movie on Netflix.

The guys all have nice hands.

by Anonymousreply 56February 19, 2020 11:18 PM

Oh man, I've tried to get into Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for the past few days. I started the game last fall but then Control was released and I jumped totally into that. Now I've seriously tried getting back into Fallen Order but it's been tough. The story is paper thin and all the chores you have to do like finding new stuff feel nothing but chores. And then the fight mechanics. I'm not the biggest gamer out there but I've played enough over the years to usually get by playing on a harder than normal level. Not with this one, though. Fighting is so hard that I've died like dozens of times and since there are so few save points you have to grind through the same annoying fights with the spiders over and over again. I guess I wouldn't mind if the fighting was fun but it seriously is not. Apparently it gets fun when you've unlocked all your powers which happens right before the game ends. Nice.

Playing Fallen Order is like playing a Fisher Price toy that's Dark Souls level hard. I mean seriously, the game's been getting so good reviews I thought there must be something wrong with me. However now that I finally got super frustrated with the game play I went online to find critical reviews and man did I find them. I'm apparently not the only one to pretty much hate the game. The good reviews seem to come from Star Wars fans who are just happy that the game isn't a total trainwreck... which I personally think it many way is, though. Still, it's got some gorgeous visuals, like pretty much everything happening in the first 30 minutes, but then it's got some terrible modeling and texturing like Debra Wilson's face. I mean geez, on top her face looking like she's from an early Playstation 3 game she looks like her eyes are about to pop out any second.

Oh well, thankfully I got the game from a sale and didn't pay the full price. Control's first proper DLC will be out in 5 days but I guess I have to find something to play during that time. I've tried to get into Witcher 3 but for whatever reason I'm just not into it. Damn. It would be awesome if CD Projekt Red decided to surprise the coronavirus-riddled world with the sudden Cyberpunk 2077 release.

by Anonymousreply 57March 21, 2020 7:50 PM

Playing the lastest Doom and this bitch is HARD. I've had to go from Please Don't Hurt me to normal several times.

by Anonymousreply 58March 24, 2020 12:29 PM

I just played through Fallen Order and I agree with you, r57. I found some aspects of the game enjoyable, but from the first boss fight when I died over and over and over, I almost stopped playing. I finally switched to the noob level and all the fights were still hard, but not as bad. Parts of the game were really, really challenging but almost to a fault. The whole sliding down ice, force stopping a giant fan at the exact moment so you could jump through (takes many tries) or having to jump mid air just to force pull a rope got old real fast. I did really like BD1. I'm a huge Star Wars nerd but Vader Immortal for the Occulus is the one to play. Man is it amazing.

I will have to look for Control. I loved Mass Effect so if it's similar, I will enjoy it.

by Anonymousreply 59March 25, 2020 7:47 AM

Has anyone tried 'Bless' a new free to play MMORPG on Xbox One? I keep seeing it advertised and it looks cool although I'm not usually an MMO guy.

by Anonymousreply 60March 25, 2020 10:07 AM

Sorry, it's called 'Bless Unleashed' not just Bless. Stupid lack of edit function!!

by Anonymousreply 61March 25, 2020 10:09 AM

Which VR headsets do you like? I have Macs, but could install Windows on a separate partition. I have a SteamLink but no XBox or Playstation.

by Anonymousreply 62March 25, 2020 11:07 AM

Gaymer here, but I play MOBAs these days. Waiting on whichever version of Paragon manages to make it to PS4.

I Have an NES and an N64 emulator on my PC. Plus I also have a Steam account. On the NES side I've got all of the NES games I loved. All the SMB, Donkey Kong,PacMan, Xevious, etc. On N64 I've got Mario Kart and Mario Smash.

In Steam I have BioShock I & II, And Fallout IV. So just a few games.

[quote] I will have to look for Control. I loved Mass Effect so if it's similar, I will enjoy it.

Not similar games at all, besides both being well-made. Control is a sort of urban fantasy a la David Lynch and the X-Files. The story is not nearly as grand as in Mass Effect and the focus in Control is more on the fighting. And the fighting is a pleasure. Control does not have enough story elements in place to call it an RPG which the Mass Effect trilogy truly was. I just wanted to point that out so you won't be disappointed.

I remember thinking Destiny could be a new Mass Effect and bought it pre-release based on the gorgeous trailers that sort of heavily hinted at strong story elements. Thankfully they released a demo before the main release which made it totally clear there was barely any story elements in the game. I canceled the pre-order after playing the demo for 30 minutes. Control is not Destiny and does have a strong story for an action game but it's not an RPG.

I started another playthrough of Fallout 4 this week. I still have to get through all the DLC. I'm glad my Sole Survivor is hot because the denizens of the Wasteland are pretty damn rough looking.

by Anonymousreply 66March 27, 2020 10:14 PM

I need to make it through this COVID just to play Cyberpunk.

I finished The Outer Worlds (I was late getting started). While it clearly wasn't as deep and lacked the emotional heft, it was the game I wanted Mass Effect: Andromeda to be.

I can't decide if I'm spending the weekend with Fallen Order or Spider-Man.

by Anonymousreply 67March 28, 2020 12:21 AM

Not only is Spiderman-hands down--the best Spiderman game, but one of the best third-persons that I've played in a while. It's on par with the Batman Arkham games.

The Control expansion was FINALLY released but I literally just deleted my saved game last week after almost a year of waiting.

by Anonymousreply 68March 28, 2020 9:59 AM

R68, Control was released seven months ago, so not exactly a year ;) Their DLC roadmap was available last fall already and the first one came out when promised.

I've been playing said The Foundation DLC for a couple of days. It's enjoyable, nothing really earth-shatteringly new about it.

But why oh why would you delete your saved games settings? I always keep the ones I might return to one day. I game on PS4 and thankfully PS+ automatically syncs saved game settings to the cloud.

Sorry, if this goes off topic, but this week ALDI South Germany had a special sale of Playstation 4 for 199 Euros and it was sold out almost immediately. Germany's Lidl offers Playstation 4 with the game Fortnite for 299 Euros this Saturday. Since regular shops are currently closed, because of the coronavirus, discounters like Aldi and Lidl are the only way to get electronic devices at the moment in so-called brick and mortar stores.

by Anonymousreply 70March 28, 2020 10:30 AM

Can't wait for resident evil 3 bitches!

by Anonymousreply 71March 28, 2020 10:52 AM

No love for League of Legends in this thread :( . Why will none of you stand at the Vanguard with me and Leona?

Anyone want to play One For All or TFT with me xD ??

I'll post my username if anyone wants to play a few . I'll check back in 30 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 72March 30, 2020 11:50 PM

Everybody seems to be doing Animal Crossing anyway.

by Anonymousreply 73March 30, 2020 11:58 PM

Datalounge says my post was an hour ago when it was ~45 minutes ago. So weird... anyways if anyone wants to play League with me you can add me:

Mami Kato

Forgive my username, I picked it after someone suggested it to me and I've been too lazy to change it.

by Anonymousreply 74March 31, 2020 12:38 AM

Need a new tomb raider game, shadow did nothing for me. Hopefully it's developed by the people that made the 2013 game.

by Anonymousreply 75March 31, 2020 10:13 AM

Downloading FF7 remake. Will post first impressions. It's 86 gigs. Hefty.

by Anonymousreply 76April 12, 2020 2:44 PM

Much higher level of difficulty, seems like the characters are really well written. It's not an exact replica of the game story wise. Graphics are amazing--lots of detail. Just did the first part with the bombing of the reactor and it was pretty intense. Liking it so far.

by Anonymousreply 77April 12, 2020 5:18 PM

R76 a friend of mine downloaded it the other day. Apparently they changed the Materia system and limited the number of Summons. I mainly splayed FF7 to breed Gold Chocobos! Like Wise I spent a bulk of my time in FF8 doing the card mini-game.

by Anonymousreply 78April 13, 2020 6:40 AM

R64, why don’t you just get a Nintendo Switch? I fucking love Mario Odyssey. It gradually introduces you to old characters throughout the game, draws you into what they’re known for and it’s fantastic.

by Anonymousreply 79April 13, 2020 7:34 AM

They didn't change the materia system as much as I thought they were going to, R78. The game is supposed to be just one part of a series of games Square is releasing that make up FF7 and this one is comprised of the events that take place in Midgar before you leave it, before you see any summon materia, so they threw in a lot of them just so the player would have something to use I guess. There's a lot more character development in this one too. If you have played the original FF7 then this one would still be fun. The story is a bit different but still seems true to the original. I'm at the part that equates to visiting the second mako reactor right now. They also made Barret really hot in the remake. Hopefully they will let Cloud go on the date with him at Gold Saucer in later releases but I doubt it because there have been a lot of "Hey bro! Derp, derp, derp bro!" moments since I've started playing. It isn't as bro'ed out as ffxv but I'm thinking they're keeping it super straggotty. I'll have to see what they do with Cloud in the Wall Market.

by Anonymousreply 80April 13, 2020 11:48 AM

Ok they made it like 500x gayer than the original, LOL.

by Anonymousreply 81April 14, 2020 4:04 PM

Epic Games store has a Sherlock Holmes game Crimes and Punishment as a freebie until tomorrow. It's a mystery game and all about finding clues. Not the greatest game ever but I played it for a few hours years ago and it was ok for what it is. If you want it free you have to get it before the deal ends, but after that you can obviously play it how much you like.

Then tomorrow the action game Just Cause 4 will be free for a week.

by Anonymousreply 82April 15, 2020 11:45 AM

R80 are Yuffie and Vincent still side characters? Did any limit breaks change? I had one more question, oh yeah is Knights of the Round Table still a summon :D ?

I still remember the Cloud dressing in drag mission. I always chose something "clean" even though I know you want the silk dress .

by Anonymousreply 83April 15, 2020 2:57 PM

It's just Midgar, R83. Cait Sith has made a brief appearance, but I haven't gotten to Shinra yet so I don't know about Red. I don't think there will be Yuffie or Vincent because they happen outside of Midgar. There is a lot of talk about allying with Wutai though--propaganda, so I wonder if they're going to make it bigger in one of the later... remake sequels?

In this one what appears to be a gay guy takes an interest in cloud and then invites him to do this dance in front of an audience as a mini game and they put him in full drag on stage. There are different dresses depending on some choices you make for all three, Cloud, Aeris and Tifa but they're more subtle about it in the remake.

The limit breaks work differently and have changed a bit. I had to do a coliseum battle to get one for cloud.

Only summons I've seen so far are Shiva, Ifrit, Choco/Mog and Fat Chocobo.

by Anonymousreply 84April 15, 2020 6:12 PM

Apparently there is also Leviathan and Bahamut and that's it.

by Anonymousreply 85April 16, 2020 4:59 PM

Finished the game. Was actually pretty impressed with it.

by Anonymousreply 86April 17, 2020 6:40 PM

R86, is there any tasteless fanservice e.g. Tifa's gelatinous chest or Cindy's stupid outfit/proportions in this episode of the remake, or have things evolved even a little? It's hard to know with Japanese developers; it's like the women's and LGBT movements have completely passed them by sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 87April 17, 2020 9:37 PM

My friend and I have been playing Sea of Thieves on Xbox for the past three weeks. We are OBSESSED with it and frankly, it's the only thing keeping me sane right now. Every night we play for at least 4 hours and it's so much fun. We are two lesbians and we just run around being pirates and well, it's been the best thing for my mental health since all this lockdown started.

by Anonymousreply 88April 17, 2020 9:51 PM

Any Need for Speed fans ? Or any racing games on phone ?

by Anonymousreply 89April 17, 2020 10:03 PM

They actually toned down Tifa and made her a bit more realistic.

by Anonymousreply 90April 17, 2020 11:33 PM

R87 there's a really creepy scene qhere tifa is dressed in slutty dresses (depending if you do lame aide missions) aerith also has dresses but they're tasteful, anyway the camera pan all over tifas body and especially her breasts when some fat old perv wants one of them as his waifus. But other than that the fan service is kept minimally in check. Loved the scene where cloud is at a gay club too.

by Anonymousreply 91April 18, 2020 12:44 AM

Oh yeah and I recently bought a Wanle 500 in 1 handheld game. It's awesome. Has what I mentioned above.

by Anonymousreply 92April 18, 2020 3:41 AM

GTA 5 Premium Edition is free on Epic Games Store until May 21st. Like with other Epic Store free games you really get the ownership of the game. I love Epic for offering free games but I can't help but wonder is the gaming industry totally ok with this.

by Anonymousreply 93May 16, 2020 12:34 AM

I’m an avid gamer WoW!!!

by Anonymousreply 94May 16, 2020 1:34 AM

Going old school. Got final fantasy 7 classic and resident evil remastered for $5 each.

by Anonymousreply 96May 16, 2020 2:53 AM

R96 i used to play an MMO were people min/maxed a bunch of builds for every character and one day a noob was given a suggestion and he typed " dude STFU i'll play my toon however the fuck I want" . People tried to tell him in this particular game characters only had 2 real builds and that the guy gave him the most optimal one. He exclaimed, " IDGAF , I'm reporting him. Dude is trying to tell me how to play my toon." At which I turned the chat into a toxic WOW chat session with a mere , " kek ".

I've never played WOW but i have played HoTS.
