Where Did Nicole Kidman’s Face Go Wrong?

She’s looked like a corpse for years.

This plastic creature makes me ashamed I'm Australian.

by Anonymousreply 1September 3, 2019 10:58 PM

Nicole is the original "resting bitch face."

by Anonymousreply 2September 3, 2019 11:01 PM

I am so angry at her for doing that shit to her face and her hair. She was a good actress and a beautiful woman with a distinct face. Now she looks like every other grotesque on the Upper East Side with frozen trout face and brittle white blonde hair.

I couldn’t enjoy her on “Big Little Lies” at all. (Worst wigs EVER, too. My god.

by Anonymousreply 3September 3, 2019 11:08 PM

The lips are clown-scary.

by Anonymousreply 4September 3, 2019 11:09 PM

She was gorgeous in Moulin Rouge.

by Anonymousreply 5September 3, 2019 11:16 PM

She always wants that alabaster blonde look, but it’s too ethereal for her delicate features. Then she compensates with the bright makeup and it’s too doll-like. She always looks better to me with earthier neutral tones in hair and features.

by Anonymousreply 6September 3, 2019 11:29 PM

I think she’s tremendous.

by Anonymousreply 7September 3, 2019 11:38 PM

The lips are a disgrace. They do go back to normal, won’t they? And when?

by Anonymousreply 8September 3, 2019 11:48 PM

Saddest part is that these people who mutilate their faces are role models for many. She and those who indulge in this are pitiful and have no place being in the spotlight to teach others.

by Anonymousreply 9September 3, 2019 11:52 PM

reminds me of Baby Jane.....all she needs is the white face makeup

by Anonymousreply 10September 3, 2019 11:53 PM

So tragic. I just watched Eyes Wide Shut for the first time in 20 years last night, she was ethereal then. Now she looks like one of those apple witch dolls people used to make at Halloween.

by Anonymousreply 11September 3, 2019 11:59 PM

Hasn't hurt her career.

Last year she could barely leave the house without winning an award.

by Anonymousreply 12September 4, 2019 12:01 AM

I never thought she was gorgeous per se (should never have played Grace Kelly) but she was fairly pretty as a young woman. She did not need enhancements. She doesn't need huge lips just because they're trendy. I don't know why she had to go down the scary route.

by Anonymousreply 13September 4, 2019 12:12 AM

It’s just a bad photo. It’s the same damn photo every troll on the block and blog in town uses. I could bet money on it. If it’s a trash Nic thread, it’s the blond photo with the overdrawn lipliner. It’s not even fillers really. It’s so tired.

by Anonymousreply 14September 4, 2019 1:47 AM

If you spent years keeping a permanently neutral expression as Mrs Tom Cruise, you’d have nerve damage too.

by Anonymousreply 15September 4, 2019 2:02 AM

She hates being asked about wigs. Probably nearly bald.

by Anonymousreply 16September 4, 2019 5:53 AM

Too many face fillers... her cheeks always look swollen these days. Unless you're getting fat, your face gets thinner with age. And she naturally has very thin lips, but again overheard with the injections/implant. She did look her best around Moulin Rouge, I think she already had a few nips and pokes by then. Blonde hair doesn't suit her as well as red, whatever her natural shade is.

by Anonymousreply 17September 4, 2019 6:10 AM

When she was married to Tom Cruise and spent most of her life as arm candy on the red carpet, she was really striking-looking because she didn't look like the rest of Hollywood. She was too tall, her hair was too red and too curly, she still had some freckles, and she wore off-beat colors like that chartreuse Galliano number.

Since she's "come into her own", I notice something creepy. Her skin is getting paler, her hair is getting paler, she is botoxed and primped to look like everybody else, and at awards nights she regularly wears that color called "blush", which looks good on nobody who was born white. It's really as though she's trying to disappear.

There is a psychological study in this somewhere. If only she was interesting enough that anyone could be bothered pursuing it.

R18 She's becoming a Stepford Wife, just like her character in the inferior re -make she starred in.

by Anonymousreply 19September 4, 2019 6:35 AM

R14 is right. In general, she looks great on screen despite her looks changing over the years (some of it clearly with fillers, etc). I still find her beautiful and incredibly watchable/talented.

I loved the courtroom scenes in BLL2 with Meryl. Nicole is one of the finest actresses of her generation, IMO. I don’t see why her talent doesn’t get more DL love.

r20 is Keith Urban

I'm a huge fan of Nicole Kidman's work and the creative risks she takes. She has the best resume of any actress in film. She's adventurous and daring in the roles and projects she chooses and she speaks often about liking to work with all kinds of alternative directors and collaborators.

But it is not just one bad photo. I agree with R6. I don't know how Kidman sees herself in real life but it's far too pale and frilly and feminine and insecure about her age and she makes me nervous when I see her on red carpets or dancing awkwardly to her husband's music at award shows. She seems uncomfortable in the spotlight, but she has something she's trying to maintain and it's not working. She doesn't get much DL love because she's quiet and not a caricature of a woman. But I think there's a bit of Blanche Dubois in our Nicole. She's a bit deranged.

She’s the new Catwoman.

by Anonymousreply 23September 4, 2019 2:37 PM

Did anyone see Top of the Lake - China Girl? She plays an age appropriate - late 40's - woman with, grey curly hair, very little make up and some freckles. she looked normal!! And she was really good in the role!

by Anonymousreply 24September 4, 2019 2:52 PM

R24, no! How did I miss that? I LOVED the first one with Elisabeth Moss. Gotta find it and watch it.

I bought the season on iTunes. It didn't get great reviews but I loved it.

by Anonymousreply 26September 4, 2019 6:00 PM

She was seriously embarrassing in Luhrmann’s Australia with Huge Jackoff. Her face didn’t move. *shudder*

by Anonymousreply 27September 5, 2019 12:12 AM

The kind of curly hair Nicole had in her youth rarely lasts past 45 on white women except for a few lucky souls. She may not be chasing the light blond look per se - it's just easier to maintain blonde than red once a gal/guy goes grey.

by Anonymousreply 28September 5, 2019 12:28 AM

Nicoles hair is all wigs dear. You haven't been following along?

by Anonymousreply 29September 5, 2019 12:37 AM

R29 See also.

R29) I've read the entire thread. I guess she needs better wigs.

by Anonymousreply 31September 5, 2019 1:29 AM

She resembles Tom in OP’s photo.

by Anonymousreply 32September 5, 2019 1:31 AM

R28, even if she didn't wear wigs, I don't think "easier to maintain" is any consideration for a millionaire Hollywood star, who would have a hairdresser on speed dial at all times and in all countries.

by Anonymousreply 33September 7, 2019 4:12 PM

She looks quite masculine in the photo on the left.
