You know what the DL really needs a lot more of...Tatum/Ryan O'Neil threads! Christ on a cracker, it makes me long for the days of the multiple Woody Allen/Mia Farrow threads. Oh and by the way-MIA IS STILL BITCH

More Tatum Lies:

Tatum lied in her book and interview claiming she Never talked to Farrah and she never met her except in their racquetball matches. Tatum portrayed Farrah in her self serving book as a distant and uninterested and left out any encounters she had with Farrah (like going to movies as she said in the flop reality show, to Andy Warhol factory, Tatum baby shower, Tatum trashing her dad to Farrah, talking about baby names and wedding plans).

Griffin and Patrick always talk fondly about Farrah and how nice she was to them. The only one with a problem was jealous Tatum. It's clear she was the one who didn't want anything to do with Farrah out of jealousy and bitterness, not the other way around.

by Anonymousreply 4August 31, 2019 2:04 AM

Last month, Tatum posts a picture of Farrah attending her baby shower on her Instagram. Of course, she never mentioned that in her book (among many other positive things) because it would contradict her negative narrative regarding Farrah and Ryan.

More of Tatum's lies:

By Tatum's own account in her 2nd book ( and even the first one), Ryan continually reached out to her and her children (through phone calls and letters) and wanted to meet his grandchildren and was met with rejection every time. Ryan also said the same thing in his book.

But in 2004 while promoting her first book on Oprah, Bitter Tatum was lying and said this:

Tatum O'neal has blasted her father Ryan O'Neal on national TV again - by insisting he's a hopeless grandfather.

The actress appeared on America's OPRAH show yesterday to promote her explosive memoirs A PAPER MOON, but the interview quickly turned into another rant about her dad.

After attacking him for his violent rages, O'Neal said, "I'm sorry that he didn't see my oldest son graduate from high school. My eldest son, I just drove him to college and he doesn't even know he graduated.

"On 23 September (04), my son just turned 17. He didn't call him. These are the kind of things that Ryan is not a part of."

by Anonymousreply 6August 31, 2019 2:13 AM

Right before her flop reality show premiered while promoting it, she revealed her fake intention and went on Howard Stern show literally ripping and trashing her father there and also implied she did the reality show to humiliate her father in the public

The next day, she appeared with her father on Today show, Ryan was upset by Howard Stern interview, as usual, Tatum played the victim, lied and blamed Howard for the whole thing saying it's just Howard tried to break us up. It was a lie, because, I heard the show and she voluntarily and deliberately trashed her father there.

I don’t know what to think anymore, here on the Tate O’Lounge. Two weeks ago, I was rooting for Tatum, now I’m all of a sudden team Ryan.

More Lies:

Tatum claimed in her book she had no memory of her father hitting her when she was nominated for Oscar, but says that Vivian Kubrick (crazy Scientologist and conspiracy theorist) told her that he father socked her!!

Then, On Howard stern show, when he asked her about it, Tatum said that she wasn't sure if hit her or threatened her!!

Tatum is Lying.

by Anonymousreply 9August 31, 2019 2:28 AM

R8 I'm the one who started Ryan/Tatum thread and was also fooled by Tatum lies and believed her, but when I read other sides of the story, her 2nd book, Ryan's book and other Tatum interviews. I realized Tatum is a Liar and toxic.

She can't get over her failed adult career or Ryan/Farrah relationship and using her dad as a punching bag over her failures in life, all while asking him to help her financially and recuse her from being broke.

by Anonymousreply 10August 31, 2019 2:32 AM

More of tatum/Griffin lies that their father introduced them to drugs:

Griffin finally admitted that his early drug introduction came from his mother and that the root of their problem is much bigger than Ryan

2015

Last year, 52-year-old Griffin - whose sister is Tatum O'Neal - admitted he had to "walk away" from his famous family.

He said: "My whole family has been absolutely destroyed to smithereens from drug addiction and alcoholism. The common denominator is drugs and alcohol and depression and it's a never-ending cycle. I had to walk away from all of it. I'm done."

“My mother was an alcoholic and she took weight-loss pills, speed and other drugs,” says Griffin. “The combination of the two, along with her not being emotional stable because she was orphaned at age 6 and lived a rough life – was heart-wrenching.”

Griffin’s long battle with addiction began when he was just 9. (while he was still living with his mother). “I was the family joint roller,” he says. “My life has been a reign of drug and alcohol degradation. There were drugs everywhere in my family all day, every day. It was the ’60s and ’70s.

More from Tatum's Lies:

Tatum claimed that her father abandoned her when she was full blown heroin addict fighting with her ex husband for the custody of their kids. She didn't mention that Ryan tried to help and stood up for her and called John McEnroe:

From Confessions of a Hollywood P.I. by Hollywood Private investigator, Don Crutchfield: (Don Cruthfield was the private investigator of the O'Neal family and other Hollywood celebrities):

"Given Tatum’s behavior and family history, one can hardly argue with the man’s concerns. If I were in John McEnroe’s position, I would probably do the same thing. Like many other unstable parents, Tatum seems determined to hang onto her children, however much it might hurt them.

At one point, Tatum enlisted her father, Ryan O’Neal, to intercede on her behalf. “What do you want to do, kill her?” Ryan reportedly screamed at his former son-in-law during a heated phone conversation. “Those kids are all she’s got to keep her sane. You take them away, and nobody’s going to be able to put back the pieces again.”

Excuse me, but I always thought that parents were supposed to be there to support their young children, not the other way around. Once a parent is under the sway of drugs, she may desperately want and need her kids. Unfortunately, she is probably the last person who should be given the responsibility for raising them."

by Anonymousreply 15August 31, 2019 2:51 AM

More Tatum Lies:

In Tatum's first book, She talks about visiting her ill father after learning he was diagnosed with leukemia, she said that they almost got into a fistfight after remarked to him it was weird having a young girlfriend! and she left it at that, But in Ryan's book, he said that Tatum also told him "at least my mother died with dignity" of course, Tatum left out that part.

First of all, your bad tempered father is sick with leukemia and you had a shaky violent relationship with him, and he's not the first nor the last guy to have a young girlfriend, and she's still pressing on this issue making unfavorable remarks to him about this!!!. The new girlfriend was not Farrah, and Tatum was still acting jealous?!

From Ryan's book:

"My second act of bravery was to occur when I got home from the doctor’s office. Tatum showed up because she’d heard the death knell. I wasn’t expecting much by way of sympathy, but I sure wasn’t ready for what I got.

She verbally stripped me bare, recounting the highlights of my failed life and then, before slamming the door on her way out, she said, “Well, at least my mother died with dignity.”

I worry that if that episode in our lives comes up on the reality show, I won’t be able to manage it. But then nothing should surprise me. I didn’t get a call on my fiftieth birthday either."

by Anonymousreply 16August 31, 2019 3:00 AM

More Lies from Tatum:

In her 2nd book "Found", Tatum made it clear that the reality show with her father was her idea and she was the one convincing/pushing her dad to do it and how afraid she is that her father will back out, (I had no idea about all of this before reading her book), because in different interviews promoting the show, including Howard Stern, Tatum made it like it was a mutual idea and when Howard asked her "Is your father that desperate to be on TV?" , Tatum said yes.

In Ryan's book, He said he wasn't happy doing the show and did it only because his daughter "has nothing else to do". I didn't believe him at the time reading the book, but it turned out he was telling the truth, Tatum confirmed the same thing in her 2nd book , while lying in interviews portraying her father as being desperate for the show, while it was her idea and pushing Ryan to do it and that he agreed trying to make her happy.

Not only he agreed to be on the show, he produced it "In 2011, Ryan and Tatum attempted to restore their broken father/daughter relationship after 25 years. Their reunion and reconciliation process was captured in the Oprah Winfrey Network series, Ryan and Tatum: The O'Neals, which O'Neal produced. It only ran nine episodes."

by Anonymousreply 17August 31, 2019 3:02 AM

More lies:

John McEnroe said in his book that Tatum was restless to have a successful acting career during their marriage and kept auditioning for several movie roles but to no avail, After the divorce, Tatum accused John in the media of preventing her to pursue a career which John denied. Anyway, after the divorce and away from her "abusive" estranged father. She still she failed to achieve success in her acting career as she hoped. then sliding into drug addiction,at the time she blamed her mother's death and John marrying another woman.

But by the time of her 2nd book and reality TV show, Tatum turned things around and blamed her drug addiction (during 1990s and 2000s) on her father (she was estranged from him for years at the time of her addiction)!! and also changed her early tune and kept praising John McEnroe and blamed her fucked up childhood on the failure of their marriage.

by Anonymousreply 18August 31, 2019 3:05 AM

Tatum's selective memory:

Tatum says in her Instagram post about Cher that "My dad literally had to extract me from Cher's house". She didn't mention her father at all in her first book when she talked stalking Cher and spending days at her house. She gave the impression that her dad really didn't care about her spending days staying at Cher's!

tatum__oneal

My favorite thing in life was being on her @cher show and having a gown made by @bobmackie that was my size to do an impersonation of her on the show .That Cher show is somewhere out there !! @cher is and was the coolest woman on this entire planet, and she let me be a part of her family with her @pauletteakapauly and and Cher’s beautiful mom and sis !!! I stayed with them for a minute best days of my life mand my dad had to literally extract me out of her house on Carolwood off sunset . That was right next-door to the Jane Mansfield house with the heart shaped pool. Anyway thank you @Cher and @pauletteakapauly for letting me be a part of your life because for me it was a spectacular moment in time that I will never forget . As their were not a lot of woman around me at the time . I shall cherish those moments forever . @pauletteakapauly Is driving and is cut out of the photo . Really annoying .

by Anonymousreply 24August 31, 2019 3:26 AM

More Lies/selective memory:

Tatum Never mentioned this incident in her book that her father had a big fight with Farrah For Her, Even though it's a negative story about Ryan, Tatum didn't want to contradict the narrative of Ryan abandoning her for Farrah. She didn't want to expose the fact that she gave Ryan/Farrah a hard time Or she was the one who rejected Farrah offers to get along .

11/30/1999

Griffin, 35 --once told The ENQUIRER: soon after Ryan moved out on Griffin and Tatum, he brought Farrah to visit them -- and she and Tatum got into a gigantic argument, Griffin said

"Tatum hated Farrah for stealing him away from her. She told Farrah: 'Dad's mine and I want him back!' Farrah shot back: 'Tough.'

"They started to trade barbs, and Dad told Farrah to shut up. When she didn't he totally blew his cool and started screaming at her.

"Farrah burst into tears and ran for the stairway that leads upstairs. Just as she reached it, Dad took his pool cue and hurled it violently -- like a spear -- in her direction.

"It struck the wall with a tremendous thud about two feet above Farrah's head and stuck into the drywall. Farrah's face turned white."

I’m glad someone is keeping track of the lies. I just want to say she’s looking like Renee Zellweger in the selected picture.

by Anonymousreply 27August 31, 2019 3:42 AM

More of Tatum selective memory:

Tatum claims she felt so betrayed and hurt by Melanie Griffith's affair with her dad and Melanie abandoning her in Israel but still invited to her birthday party in 1980!!!Of course she didn't said this in her book but Ryan mentioned it.

Also, she gave the impression that Ryan totally abandoned her after Farrah, which is a Lie, He and Farrah tried with her but she wanted him to chose between her and Farrah , which is totally ridiculous and unfair. Among many positive things Tatum left out, She didn't talk about her father throwing her a big birthday party in Farrah house for her 16 birthday:

From Ryan's book:

"Farrah was so loving and supportive, continually reassuring me, “It’s okay, we’ll see more of her.” She’d encourage me to bring Tatum with us to the movies, to dinner, anything to try to break through.

Tatum turned sixteen on November 5, and we had her birthday party at Farrah’s, at the big house in the hills, and invited all her friends, including Michael Jackson, Melanie Griffith, and Andy Gibb, who was one of Tatum’s great crushes. I was upset when he died, so young and so mysteriously.

As best I recall, at the party the kids kept listening to Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones. They didn’t play pin the tail on the donkey or spin the bottle. But I saw the way Tatum was looking at Andy and I think they played something called "Truth or Dare,” a game I didn’t understand then and don’t now.

The Diane Keaton look from Annie Hall made its appearance on two or three of the girls. The only thing I remember about the boys is that they all wanted to get close to Melanie.

I give my daughter not one but two cars—a brand-new BMW and a classic MG sports car. I had them brought to the front of the house. Each had an enormous ribbon with a bow tied around it.

The entire party escorts Tatum outside. I expect an ordinary teen response from her, a squeal, a big hug for her old man. Instead there’s nothing. She just looks at the cars and then at me. I can’t tell whether she’s confused or disappointed. “Thanks, Dad,” she says as she turns and walks back into the house.

By this point it’s clear I’m not going to able to console my daughter with fancy presents. The stronger Farrah believed in me, the less Tatum did."

by Anonymousreply 28August 31, 2019 3:43 AM

R27 Unfortunately, Most people are Not aware of Tatum's lies, they just believe her automatically because it's politically correct to believe and support her.

More from Tatum using her father as a punching bag for her mistakes:

When Michael Jackson asked Tatum to accompany him to the movie premier of the Wiz, Tatum said her manger Sue Mengers advised Tatum against attending the premiere with Michael Jackson because he's a "N***r", Tatum admits her father didn't have a problem with her going out with Michael but she still puts the blame on her father!

From Tatum's self serving book:

"Unfortunately, my friendship with Michael came to an abrupt ending. For the film's New York premiere, Michael invited me to be his date. I asked my dad, who didn't care one way or another if I went, but my talent agency was dead set against it.I was told, in exactly these words: "You can't go to a premiere with a ni**er."

That upset me tremendously. Had I been old enough—or had I the parental support—I could have stood my ground and insisted "Oh yes, I can." But my father was too disengaged to help me think it through. So, without telling Michael the reason, I turned him down.He was devastated. After that Michael didn't speak to me for years"

by Anonymousreply 33August 31, 2019 3:59 AM

More Lies:

Tatum claimed in her book that when she first introduced John McEnroe to her father and they played racquetball. It was John who won the match. John recounted a different result in his book that he lost and Ryan won the match.

From Tatum self serving book:

"Then, inevitably, my father challenged John to a game of racquetball. Though my dad was very good, the idea of it was ludicrous—imagining that he could beat the number one tennis player in the world As I recall, my dad's unsportsmanlike tactics failed and so John wound up the winner"

From John McEnroe book:

"We went to the house, and he said, "Let's play racquetball." Before dinner. I'd only tried racquetball a couple of times in my life, but never with anyone who really knew how to play. I was in my jeans, he was in his shorts, and I saw right away that he was pretty good. I could see immediately that it was a game of angles—that you could hit the ball in the corner where it wouldn't bounce, and that was how you won points....And I lost, something like 21-18.

In retrospect, it's lucky that I didn't get into a fight with him— he'd been a Golden Gloves champion as a kid. There were also a few times he put on boxing gloves with me. I'm lucky he didn't punch my lights out. I caught him in good moods. He'd sort of let me hit him, and he'd just bob and weave, and after a minute my arms would get tired. "

by Anonymousreply 34August 31, 2019 4:20 AM

More Tatum's Lies:

Tatum denied that at 13/14 years old, she tried to seduce Michael Jackson. Michael claimed in Martin Bashir interview that Tatum tried to seduce him in her bedroom but he was too shy and just put his hands on his eyes to cover them. I believe MJ's version of the story.

Tatum acted outraged and said at the time she didn't understand about sex. Though Tatum tells about the Orgy she had in Paris at 13 years old.

From Tatum book:

"He sat on my bed, and we kissed very briefly, but it was terribly awkward. For all my passionate crushes on people like Dustin Hoffman, I was not at all ready for a real-life encounter. So I said, "I can't."Michael, who was sweating profusely, seemed as intimidated as I was."That's the closest I ever got to Michael—which is why I was amazed by his recent claim, on national television, that I'd seduced him but he was too shy to carry it through. I absolutely adored Michael—as a friend—and I admire him to this day. I believe that he fell in love with me. I'm told that he wrote the song "She's Out of My Life," on his album Off the Wall, for me.What an honor.

At the time of my supposed seduction, however, I was barely pubescent, and what I'd seen of sex so far was unappealing and gross. It may have been Michael's fantasy that I'd seduce him—and it's a little sad that he cast himself as failing, even in his dream—but it just didn't happen."

After MJ's death, Tatum changed her tune and claimed she made out with Michael.

by Anonymousreply 35August 31, 2019 4:58 AM

Also, Tatum said in Howard Stern interview, she had sex when she was 12 years old. and in the book, she claimed she lost her virginity in 1977 when she was shooting International Velvet. So to claim she didn't know anything about sex when she was with Michael at 14 years old is ridiculous. I believe she tried to have sex with him.

by Anonymousreply 36August 31, 2019 5:02 AM

Ryan gives his side of the story exposing Tatum's lies:

From Ryan's book "Both of Us"

"I can only say this: Joanna and I made some dreadful mistakes as parents, and I hope that one day my children will be able to forgive us, as they would want their own children to forgive them.

My daughter inherited her mother’s predilection for addiction but not her wisdom or compassion. And it was always either/or with Tatum. She was unfamiliar with subtlety. Innocent of nuance. Tatum is still tearing holes in her world and unfortunately her world at the moment is also mine. I promised to tell you what happened in New York. I’ll set the scene for you.

It’s midafternoon exactly one week ago today. I’m sitting in the greenroom at CNN watching my daughter tape her interview with Piers Morgan. The “greenroom” is where talk show guests are parked until they go on camera. I can’t believe what’s coming out of my daughter’s mouth. She’s telling Piers that she first started experimenting with drugs at eleven years old. She knows that’s not true! He’s now inquiring if I supplied her with the drugs. “You’ll have to ask him,”she replies. Ask him. He doesn’t need to ask me! Tatum, you and I both know the answer to that question is no! At this point, I’m hollering at the TV screen. A network page comes running in to ask if everything is all right.

"Are you listening to this?” I say. “She’s rewriting history! She hated drugs when she was little!” I turn my attention back to the show, trying to ignore the nagging question now hovering at the back of my mind: Could she actually have been doing drugs that young?

I remember after I got full custody, I put both Tatum and Griffin into a private school and she hated it there, started stealing and getting into trouble. I took her out of that school, and soon after we went into production on Paper Moon , where she had a tutor.

I may not have been the best father, certainly not a perfect one, but I would have known it if she was chewing Quaaludes at eleven. She probably thinks it looks better if her drug problem was a lifelong struggle rather than something that happened to her as an adult. I’m guessing, grasping, trying to come up with a reason why my daughter would misrepresent about something like this. Now my child is telling Piers to remember to speak up when he interviews me because I’m old and don’t hear too well anymore. Well, young lady, I certainly heard that!

Then, tossing back her hair, Tatum looks into the camera, smiles coquettishly, and adds, “I don’t think my father can see too well anymore either.” So I’m not only going deaf, I’m also going blind?

by Anonymousreply 37August 31, 2019 5:17 AM

Tatum is a beautiful and gifted actress and a woman of great integrity. The way she was molested, raped, abandoned and turned on to drugs by her father and then abandoned for crazy Farrah was despicable, and unforgivable. He continued to mentally abuse and emotionally torture her for all of her adult life. Ryan sold stories to the tabloids about Tatum and participated in having her children taken from her. I applaud her strength and tenacity and her fearlessness about exposing the truth. Even about Farrah.

John McEnroe further victimized Tatum and put the final nails in the coffin of her career and sobriety. Thankfully with the light on day, Tatum has told the truth about the real life demons who sought to destroy her and the drug use than almost did. I'm so glad she is standing strong in her truth today. I predict she will win another Oscar. None of them will be free until the EVIL ryan o'neil is DEAD!!! Soon now.

Tatum deserves the Warhol. May Farrah's torturous memory grant Tatum a small compensation now.

Soon the whole world will know even more. Stay strong and well Tatum. You are loved and respected.

More lies/contradiction:

Tatum, trashing John McEnroe calling him a sociopath in 2002, but in In 2011 on Howard Stern interview, Tatum called John, a decent moral man and that she was the one who fucked up their marriage.

2002

"He's a sociopath," Tatum charges in a series of interviews she just gave to Britain's Daily Mail. Though she says her father, Ryan O'Neal, "could be violent," she contends she has "never met a crueler man in my life" than McEnroe.

"He has convinced the children I am stupid, so they will never come to me for advice. He has poisoned them against me," she snarls.

O'Neal claims her ex is far from the ideal dad. But it's his notorious rudeness that really draws her ire. On trips, O'Neal says, he would "push past kids at the airport, and his tennis rackets would be just at the level where they'd hit them in the face. But he wouldn't even look back and apologize. So, guess what, I now have boys who just bash through doors and push past little girls."

From Ryan's book:

"By the new year, Tatum and John have divorced, leaving a trail of tabloid scat in their wake. It had been coming for a while. But I don’t need to get into all those details. My daughter has written two books on the subject. Next, Tatum would be embroiled in a bitter custody battle. John would eventually triumph.

If Tatum’s listening, she won’t like hearing this, but I don’t blame my former son-in-law for fighting for his kids the way he did. In fact, I respect him for it. No father wants to yank his children away from their mom. It’s a gut-wrenching fight and everyone loses a part of her- or himself on the battlefield. I ought to know. I went after Joanna for custody of Tatum and Griffin, twice, for the same reason John had to duke it out with Tatum. I had no choice.

At the time, my ex-wife was washing down half a bottle of barbiturates a day with vodka. And this was back in the early seventies when the courts favored the mother even if she was unfit. “Let’s give her another chance,” the judge said. To Joanna’s credit, when she realized she was hopelessly addicted, she showed up on my doorstep in Malibu and handed me our kids, then checked into a hospital. Tatum was seven years old and Griffin was six. I can only imagine how hard that was for Joanna, and to this day, I don’t know whether either of my children appreciates the courage that decision took.

The rest of the story gets more complicated, with fundamental disagreement between my children and me over the specifics of how it unfolded. I can only say this: Joanna and I made some dreadful mistakes as parents, and I hope that one day my children will be able to forgive us, as they would want their own children to forgive them."

Ryan accurate conclusion on Tatum :

"Tatum only had two options: marry a rich and famous man—and we know how that worked out—or continue as an actress, but Tatum was never able to make the transition from the appealing child to the accomplished adult."

by Anonymousreply 51August 31, 2019 6:09 AM

Wow. Ryan’s PR team (which I’m pretty sure consists only of Ryan) has had SUFFICIENT of Tatum’s “lies”!

by Anonymousreply 52August 31, 2019 8:09 AM

R52 PR team??!

So because someone is exposing the truth about Tatum's Lies. The lies and contradictions Tatum kept spewing for years in public, so it's must be Ryan PR team or Ryan himself?! I

I'm sure, Ryan doesn't care about what people think of him, especially now that he has his share of health problems and worries about his son Redmond to care about what people (or DL) think of him.

Again, I'm someone who hate hypocrisy and don't like seeing someone lying for 20 years and people giving her a pass because it's politically correct to support and believe her Or because her father is a jerk.

by Anonymousreply 53August 31, 2019 8:22 AM

Yes, Ryan was a Jerk, But Tatum is Not honest in recounting her stories. Tatum has this damaged/victim attitude, so people believe whatever she says. No one would realize Tatum's BS, unless they've read many sides of the story with an open, non biased mind.

I'm not saying Tatum is an evil person but she's an obnoxious liar and an entitled brat who can't get over her failures in life and can't take responsibility for it.

by Anonymousreply 54August 31, 2019 8:34 AM

Tatum is a Narcissist, she can't believe Bruce Willis was rude to her:

"The most disappointing? Off the top of my head, I'd say Bruce Willis. He was so rude to me I was shocked. Usually people are respectful to me just because I've been around so long, but he wasn't. He seemed to be very taken with himself and his own celebrity. He was such an ass I couldn't believe it. He thinks he's special. He's not a cool guy."

Usually people are respectful to me just because I've been around so long, but he wasn't

Fuck off, Tatum, she's such an entitled spoiled brat.

by Anonymousreply 55August 31, 2019 2:32 PM

More of Tatum Lies:

In her book, Tatum talks about a car accident she had with her friend Carrie. As her usual, twisting the truth and partially blaming her father, she said that it was her father who asked her to "Come on up to Big Sur" and she didn't want to. Also, she also didn't mention that she took drugs with her friend Carrie before driving. She focused only on the negative, like her father sending her a limo to bring her up to Big Sur, instead of going himself.

Tatum said in her self serving book "Come on up to Big Sur." My father had gone with Griffin to his vacation house,Joe Amsler was living there as a caretaker. I didn't feel like going, but saying no was never an option when my father summoned."

In Ryan O'Neal interview with Piers Morgan, He randomly mentioned this car accident, saying that Tatum called him and asked if she and her friend could come, "Hey dad, what're you doing there? did you take the dog with you? can Carrie and I join you,we're not doing anything ..?" and that a year after the car accident, Tatum told him she and her friend took Quaaludes before driving. Ryan also mentioned that he sent them a limo to bring them up and didn't go himself, he could have left out that part if he wanted.

by Anonymousreply 56August 31, 2019 3:02 PM

Like Tatum's habit of leaving out any positive things about her dad, She also has the habit of leaving out" any mistakes" she may have done or taking responsibility for her actions and its consequences .

In the car accident story above, she left out that she was the one who asked to come up to her father (she lied in the book and made it like her dad summoned her, as if it would make him responsible for the accident) and didn't mention she and her friend took drugs while driving. She just portrays herself as an innocent bystander victim.

The raging O'Neal's makes the Woody Allen/Mia Farrow debacle look like amateurs, though MIA IS BITCH.

by Anonymousreply 58August 31, 2019 6:43 PM

R104 Don't waste your time reading it. It's an extremely angry, one sided and most importantly Not honest account of what really happened from a very bitter and scorned Tatum.

She even admitted that in her 2nd book, She said when she was writing her first book, she was not okay and didn't get her shit together at that time.

After reading many sides and accounts of the story including Tatum, Ryan, Griffin and others. I think the Truth is in the middle between all of this. People shouldn't just take Tatum's account/s as a gospel. She can't get her story straight, it's inconsistent and all over the place.

by Anonymousreply 59August 31, 2019 8:37 PM

R59 here, Wrong thread!

I was talking about Tatum's first book so It's not entirely off topic.

by Anonymousreply 60August 31, 2019 8:40 PM

When does your meth supply/manic episode run out OP?

Tatum is a goddess and a saint to even speak to the toxic dump of human waste that is Ryan O'Neal.

by Anonymousreply 61August 31, 2019 8:40 PM

Whoever is doing this hate campaign against Tatum is related to her in some way. It’s obvious with all the obsessive multi threads that copy and paste all of her books here. Inheriting money really makes people piggy. The OP is the one bringing up Ryan’s $$$$$ over and over and over.

Why haven’t these threads been taken down? This is fucked up.

The OP is a pig to do this smear campaign faceless in anonymity. Anyone who attempts to destroy someone via “anonymous” shit like this should be seen as an abusive asshole.

Op, If you are so definite about her sign your fucking name.

by Anonymousreply 62August 31, 2019 8:57 PM

R61 Tatum, you're is a certified Junkie with BPD, so STFU my dear.

R62 Tatum is the one throwing smear campaign with her lies against her father for over 20 years, so don't fucking talk about smear campaigns and don't act all outraged because someone is exposing the truth. I hope broke Tatum is paying you and R61 well.

by Anonymousreply 63August 31, 2019 9:15 PM

R62 another voice of reason. Not sure why OP is so crazy about someone the do not know personally? As well why all the Ryan and Tatum threads here, hopefully Muriel steps in soon. ~r24

by Anonymousreply 64August 31, 2019 9:17 PM

OP is schizophrenic.

by Anonymousreply 65August 31, 2019 9:35 PM

So OP is Ryan or Ryan PR team or Schizophrenic, or on drugs... All because I'm exposing Tatum's lies?! LMAO

But it was Okay for Tatum to smear her father with lies in public for years and make a living by it, and everybody was cheering her up for it and nobody had a problem in trashing a man they don't know personally.

The more I see how some posters are so mad about exposing Tatum lies, the more I'm certain Tatum or her people? post here on DL. I'm Glad she's seeing herself read to filth with her lies being exposed.

by Anonymousreply 66August 31, 2019 10:04 PM

She's seeing it alright. You're about to be sued for defamation R66. Since you have no money, it will probably mean jail time for you. LMAO.

R67 Thanks for confirming that no Talent Tatum is spending her miserable life reading DL.

More of Tatum's Lies:

In 2008, Tatum was back on drugs and arrested for buying crack and cocaine on the street, this time she blamed her dog (the death of her dog) for her drug relapse:

2008

Troubled Tatum O'Neal yesterday claimed she bought crack cocaine from a street dealer because she was upset at the death of her dog.

The actress insisted police who arrested her had saved her from spiralling back into hopeless addiction.

Tatum, 44, said: "There's no excuse for what I did. But I lost my Scottish terrier Lena three weeks ago. And that seemed to set me off.

"She got old. My daughter and I had to put her down. It was too horrible for words."

Tatum, a former heroin addict who claims she has been off drugs for two years, was arrested near her New York home on Sunday.

Police said she had a bag of crack and a bag of cocaine.

Tatum, who faces a drug trial next month, said the officers had done her a good turn, adding: "I'm still sober. Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me.

More contradictions/lies:

In November 2017, Tatum started a podcast with her daughter Emily, She devoted several episodes in trashing her father with the same rinse and repeat stories, Tatum (or her daughter) promoted the podcast on some online sites including DL with something like "Tatum is dishing the dirt on her family, she let it all hang out". However, the podcast flopped or stopped within few months.

Then in March 2018, Tatum miraculously remembers the good in her dad on TODAY interview, asking for his forgiveness, saying "My father did a lot of good for me" and hopes for reconciliation!"

A reconciliation?? after she was just trashing her dad in a podcast just couple of months ago!

Tatum is a Hollywood Icon and forever a STAR. Ryan O'Neal was a talentless piece of meat who beats women, abuses children and tried to fuck his grown daughter. He is a substance abuser, a cokehead and a lifelong alcoholic. Every word he utters is a lie. Cease and desist.

In 2012, As usual, Loser Tatum was punishing her father for her failures and for being broke and of course blaming him for her drug relapse.

Tatum and Griffin have no problem in humiliating their father and constantly reminding him what a terrible father he was, while using him to get jobs, or have places to live, or rescue them.

March 8, 2012

Tatum O’Neal and her father, Ryan, got into a heated fight at his Malibu mansion during the holidays, and shortly thereafter the troubled Academy Award winning actress had a cocaine relapse , RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

“These two have gotten into arguments before, but this one was an epic one,” a source tells RadarOnline.com. “Tatum was upset that she’s broke and that their failed reality show for Oprah’s OWN network was canceled, and that Ryan wasn’t doing anything to help her. Tatum accused him of being a narcissist, and he got in her face and told her to get the f*ck out of his house. He accused her of being a horrible mother and that just pushed her over the edge, because one of her children had been living with Ryan.”

With Tatum’s financial situation in dire straits, and no acting prospects on the horizon, she turned to cocaine. “It was so sad, Tatum felt so alone and she needed to numb the pain because it was just too intense. She went on a bender for about two weeks before she recognized that if she didn’t stop she would die,” the insider says.

“Tatum is broke. She didn’t have the money to pay for the upscale facility she is at and so she asked Redmond for a loan,” the insider told RadarOnline.com. “He was happy to loan the money to his sister, with the understanding that their father Ryan would pay him back. However, Ryan and Tatum got into another epic fight recently and he told her he reneged on the offer to pay Redmond back. It now looks like Redmond won’t get his loan back, which actually doesn’t bother him all that much, he’s just happy to be able to help out his sister.”

Meanwhile, It appears that Ryan “has absolutely no plans for paying Redmond back. Ryan says that unless Tatum apologizes to him, he wants nothing to do with her. It’s truly sad that this family can’t get along,” the source says.

For Love Or Money? Rosie O'Donnell & Tatum O'Neal Mulling Reality TV Offer! 2015

Tatum "dated" Rosie for awhile. She was pushing Rosie to do a reality TV show with her but Rosie declined and soon after their relationship was over.

September 21, 2015

Rosie O’Donnell and Tatum O’Neal have been dating for just a few weeks, but they’re ready to cash in on their relationship: RadarOnline.com has learned that the couple has been offered a deal for a reality TV show — and they’re considering it!

Even though the couple has been together for less than two months , “A production company has expressed interest in doing a reality show with Tatum and Rosie,” a source told Radar. “Tatum had done a reality show with her dad, Ryan, and even though it caused headlines for all the wrong reasons, she loved doing it.”

“Rosie, however, is very hesitant to do a reality show because of all the turmoil going on in her life,” the source continued.

“But Tatum has been pushing for the show to give Rosie a platform to reveal her side of the story.”

O’Neal only recently publicly revealed she was a lesbian and a family sources told Radar, “Some doubt the sudden change in her sexuality. Tatum will do anything for attention.”

Tatum O'Neal caught lying: 2007 : After her crack arrest, Tatum said she was going to relapse after her dog death and the police saved her, then changed her story saying she was just helping a homeless drug dealer. She can't keep any of her stories straight.

2007

Looks like crack-buying Oscar winner Tatum O’Neal just says things to look good in the media.

After the actress was busted for trying to buy drugs recently, she said she planned to help the homeless drug dealer who she tried to buy the drugs from Well, the homeless drug dealer just ended a six-week jail sentence BUT is now facing deportation.

Tatum must have good lawyers because she got off easy compared to the drug dealer — she only spent one night in jail!

From what we know, there haven’t been any reports of Tatum coming to the guy’s aid.

Step up to the plate, crackhead!

More Tatum's Lies:

First time time she took drugs:

In her book, she said Victoria Sellers gave her Cocaine when she was 16 YO

On Piers Morgan interview 2011, Tatum said, she took drugs first time at 11 years old

On Wendy Williams show 2018, Tatum said she was 18/19 when she first took drugs and denied she ever said she was 11 YO when she took drugs.

by Anonymousreply 84September 1, 2019 9:07 PM

Ryan used to give Tatum drugs to put her to sleep and other drugs to make her work on the set. She was just protecting him back then. He drugged all of his wives and children. He's truly an evil sociopath.

Tatum is the hero of that family, such as it is. She looked out for her brothers and tried to help her mom and dad. She tried to befriend Farrah too, but Farrah and Ryan were too deeply addicted to cocaine and each other. God bless Tatum for getting up everyday and trying again to be a great mother, sister and friend. She's not made of sugarwater and has turned out to be a fine woman, striving for the truth and to be better each day. She realized far too late that her father was FAR more malevolent than she already knew. He was so jealous of Tatum that I believe he tried to kill her. No wonder she lies to cover for him at times. He certainly is responsible for getting her on drugs. Soon she will be able to tell the full truth. Fly Tatum, fly.

Calling out Attention seeking Tatum O'Neal:

29 September 2011

In her previous memoir, A Paper Life, she described the horrors of her upbringing: the early childhood spent on a ramshackle ranch with her lost, alcoholic mother, who was unable to look after her own children, yet filled her house with a tribe of teenage runaways.

Her father, Ryan O’Neal, rescued Tatum and her brother, Griffin, from this feral existence and for Tatum there followed a few magical years - the filming of Paper Moon for which, aged nine, she became the youngest person ever to win an Academy Award and, more importantly for the neglected little girl, a feeling of belonging, of being her daddy’s girl.

The upshot of all this was that there was a 20-year gap in Tatum’s relationship with her father. For a while her life seemed to stabilize, during her marriage to the tennis player, John McEnroe, with whom she had three children, Kevin, Sean and Emily. But then it fell apart in even more spectacular fashion with a bitter divorce in 1994 and years of drug and alcohol abuse.

The publication of Paper Life in 2004 was “supposed to symbolize the end of one life and the beginning of another.” But O’Neal writes sadly that in fact, publication wasn’t remotely healing, and in 2008 she was arrested for trying to buy crack cocaine. That near-relapse led to a epiphany. As she set about the painful process of picking herself up yet again, she realised that ‘It was time to deal with my biggest unresolved issue. My dad. And so I began a slow, careful attempt to reconcile with him.’

For some reason, Tatum thought that Farrah Fawcett’s funeral would offer a perfect opportunity for her to reconnect with her dad.

For most of us, undertaking a ‘slow, careful’ reconciliation with an estranged parent wouldn’t mean making a reality series about the process and selling it to the Oprah Winfrey Network, but this is the brilliant wheeze that strikes Tatum.

Ryan, oddly enough, has some reservations, but he agrees in the end and before you can say ‘misery memoir’, the cameras are rolling.

Yet while she doesn’t manage to direct him into the kind of relationship she was hoping for, Tatum evidently judges that the process has been therapeutic: ‘Ryan cannot change the past,’ she concludes, ‘but in making a TV show about our reconnection, I believed he had the opportunity to give us the present and a future, and that would be the best gift a father could give his daughter.’

by Anonymousreply 89September 2, 2019 7:29 PM

Few people can see through fake attention seeking Tatum: some Random comments:

"I read Tatum's books and really hated Ryan but the show really turned it around for me. Tatum is a nut and just needs to let it go and let the family live in peace. I hate people who always play the victim!"

"I loved Tatum in Paper Moon. But something about Tatum smacks of a trouble-causer and a stirrer IMO I watched a documentary about her yrs ago and she said the same kinda things about her husband as she did her dad. I can't decide if she genuinely one of life's natural victims or a bitter woman."

"why does she throw this on her social media? -tell us about it later...'let bygones be bygones'....'blood is thicker than water'....'forgiveness'...all that but these hospital 'shots' always seem so self-serving."

"Still making poor choices like posting private photos of a sick man to get attention."

"But why publicly share this anyway, whether it's family supporting family or whatever? Someone undergoing medical treatment surely doesn't need to be photographed and have it shared with the world?"

"She has never looked in the mirror at her own actions.....she has caused so much grief to her own family."

"Her father is taking a load of flak on here but so should her mother. Another wastrel with numerous addictions and with a revolving door on her bedroom."

by Anonymousreply 95September 3, 2019 11:09 AM

Tatum didn't like most of her father's women, she was particularly very jealous of Farrah, because Tatum sensed her father was very serious about Farrah and was devoted to her. compared to his other girlfriends It was normal for Ryan to have a serious relationship with a woman and probably settle down but Tatum was pathologically jealous and hated that. She wanted her father only to herself.

Tatum didn't like Diana Ross as well.

From Call Her Miss Ross book by J. Randy Taraborrelli - 1988

"The only sour note in this duet came from Ryan's 15-year-old daughter Tatum who, it was said by friends of Ryan's, didn't like Diana Ross or anyone else her father ever dated. Diana must have noticed that Tatum was spoiled. She got away with much more than her daughters ever did"

by Anonymousreply 96September 3, 2019 11:58 PM

From the thread about Ryan O'Neal and Diana Ross , From Call Her Miss Ross book by J. Randy Taraborrelli - 1988 (link below)

There were a lot of good time between Ryan and Diana and Tatum witnessed some of it with Diana's daughters. Also I'm sure Ryan told Tatum about Diana's diva temperamental behavior. and It's said that Tatum didn't like Diana Ross and most women in her father's life.

However in Tatum's self serving biased book, Tatum didn't mention any good time between her father/Diana Ross, or the fact that she didn't like Diana , or Diana's diva difficult behavior. Ryan certainly told her about it.

All Tatum focused on was the negative side of the story regarding her father.

by Anonymousreply 98September 5, 2019 12:04 AM

An honest online comment about the whiny eternal victim Tatum:

"Here is my take. And I watched the OWN show with his daughter. Ryan was a beyond shitty, selfish father, abusive at times. A lot of people are shitty parents. But Tatum and her older brother have played the victim card all the way to now. Tatum is almost fifty and Griffin is in his forties. Tatum has been a piss poor mother, heroin addict, in and out of rehab for years, lost custody. Yet, she even seems to blame everything on Ryan and/or the poor me victim syndrome and that her kids love her and understand. Please. Griffin is a huge loser and scum.

Watching Tatum in the Father/Daughter show on OWN, she came across so whiny and continually bringing up the past. He apologized as much as he is capable and they made some headway in counseling where he tried to make amends. But she wants him to pay for it forever and she wants to talk about it to him forever.

And her jealousy even now of Farrah is bizarre. She couldn’t even let him enjoy a tribute they attended for Farrah, which was emotionally draining for him, without harassing him about the past. He is an old man. At some point grow up and accept your dad as is and enjoy your time with him before he dies. She is incapable.

I came away liking him more and completely over martyr Tatum. Someone even said that in an interview when she was whining. He’s an old man, why don’t you move on from the past, accept you will never get full closure, and focus on where you are now if you want a relationship. What a novel idea. Or keep him out of your life and move on and focus on being a better parent yourself."

by Anonymousreply 99September 5, 2019 2:48 PM

More from the comment:

"My point was she sought him out again and they did a show. No matter how often he said he was sorry or acknowledged things it was never enough.

I started watching the show rooting for her, but realized by the end she is a miserable person who lives in pity for herself and wants to blame him for everything. She has been a bad mother and makes excuses for that, rarely taking responsibility.

She is the one that is trying to have a relationship with him. If she couldn’t forgive him or start anew or whatever, just move on and stop the whining. If you can’t forgive on some level, why are you spending time with him. If she wants the relationship, you can’t spend every second bringing it up to him.

I watched the show and by the end of the show I was so tired of her and felt he had actually made some headway in facing what he had done and trying to apologize. But you can never get all the validation you want. It’s just not possible. That’s my point. I didn’t begrudge her the book or the second book or her anger or keeping him out of her life. But she is just an unhappy middle-aged woman, who has failed her children miserably (lost custody, and child visting walks in on heroin and needle), who has become the poster child for negativity, victimhood and whining, much like Carnie Wilson, where every interview is about her eating issues, not about what they are accomplishing in life."

by Anonymousreply 100September 5, 2019 2:53 PM

Another truthful comment:

Tatum will never forgive him, so stay away. Being together and going over something of nauseum will never work. Many people from all walks of life have really bad childhoods or horrific childhoods. Few turn themselves into perpetual victims.

I realized Tatum liked playing the martyr instead of finding peace. Tatum is not a mean person, but she barely raised her own children and let drugs be more important and lost custody. Focus on your children and your sobriety and stay away from dad. She will never have the closure she wants. He is an old man and will never change. She has no relationship. She just seems very unhappy to me for many reasons, not just her upbringing. I read she was in rehab again recently."

by Anonymousreply 101September 5, 2019 3:02 PM

More spot on comments:

I agree that Tatum sought him out for a show and may need to let go. It may not be a matter of forgiving but taking responsibility for your life. I had a father who made our lives hell, not a drug abuser but still on many levels comparable to Ryan. He is now a broken little old man. One of my siblings still blames my dad for everything that goes wrong in her life, my other sibling is daily striving to be the best dad that he can to his own children.

I myself initially vowed to never forgive, he’s never tried to make amends like Ryan, but I am a Christian and I try to do the right thing and be civil. While I may not “enjoy” him, I have decided to be there for him whenever he needs me and I do so without bringing up bad stuff or gloating about his bad karma kicking his ass now.

Do I want to sometimes? Yes. Would it make me feel better? No. At the end of the day we all need to live our own lives and the worst people will one day be little lonely old people and that is a punishment already.

And if Tatum wants to make life better for herself, maybe she should just keep a distance. If somebody is toxic, stay away from them, don’t let them be in your life by even thinking about them. And if you decide that family ties mean a lot no matter what, accept and deal with it the best you can without negativity. Some people will never be able to make amends even if they would like to. That is my take."

"RON is one f’d up mess of a parent. There are no excuses. At the same time…..at some point, we all turn into adults and have complete responsibility and accountability for our own actions. I actually like TON, have a sense of empathy for her, and want to see her pull her life together and quit being a whiney, self absorbed, living in the past bi-atch.

I just want to see her shed her train wreck of a past, claim her future and move on. Next and back to RON–he’s beyond repair. He is (was) one fine physical specimen. He and FF together where just plain the epitome of human DNA perfection. Too bad they were both failed human beings.

But Tatum turning 50 and still acting like this?! At some point, there is an age or level of maturity that says “time to buck up, walk away from the past, chose my future, and be completely and totally responsible for my own life from this day forward.”. I’m thinking 50 is a good place for her to do

So. If so, sorry, I can’t blame him forever solely and singularly. , I have to cut her less slack too. . Yes, you too can be codependent in your own choices. If she’s age 50+ and still codependenr on this drama,,,,,yeah, I blame her for her own part in it."

My brother was one of those permanently embittered people who blamed a parent for his shortcomings way WAY past the point where he should have just owned up to them and moved the fuck on. It's exhausting to deal with. He died estranged from everyone.

Tatum doesn't have a lot going on in terms of her career. It's like being her dad's dysfunctional daughter is her job-- which is a horrible gig-- endlessly ruminating about a past she cannot change. Tatum's books had to have wrecked any hope of a rapprochement between her and her father.

by Anonymousreply 104September 5, 2019 3:38 PM

R104 Totally agree.

Tatum's official job for the past 20 years is the whiny eternal victim daughter who blames everything went wrong in her life on her father.

Also, her father allowed her back to his life (when she came back following Farrah's death) after trashing and humiliating him in public for Years (including her self serving biased book), but she still continued to bring up the past and kept confronting him with his shortcoming as parent instead of trying to have some peace.

Another comment:

"Well his children had mothers too. I can't blame him 100 percent for his kids failure. Redmond, he was also Farrah Fawcett’s son. As for Tatum and Griffin, in her autobiography it seemed as if their mother was a worse parent."

Tatum admitting her pathological love for her father: 2002

2002

"I was too attached. I think he knew that for both of us to survive, he had to let me go first. I was like a lover with him. I couldn’t tolerate anyone being with him at all," she told Premiere magazine.

by Anonymousreply 108September 5, 2019 4:32 PM

Tatum said in 2002 that her father apologized to her and reached out to her for years but she's not satisfied:

2002

Her father has since apologised for his behaviour. "He said he’s sorry," O’Neal told Premiere magazine. "He’s been reaching out to me for years. Not the way that I wanted him to, or I needed him to - I’m a f**king bitch. I wanted him to get down on his knees and grovel."

by Anonymousreply 109September 5, 2019 4:43 PM

I’m sorry, but I have to ask: is Ryan posting? Ryan, I loved you in Barry Lyndon! 😄

by Anonymousreply 110September 5, 2019 5:07 PM

John McEnroe was somewhat fair to Ryan O'Neal in his book instead of blaming him for everything like Tatum does:

From You can't be serious book by John McEnroe:

"She didn't have the strongest of foundations on which to build a sense of motherhood. Her own mother had had such problems with alcohol and pills that she'd barely been present when Tatum was little; for a time, Ryan had carried most of the burden, to the best of his limited ability, while pursuing a full-time acting career."

by Anonymousreply 111September 6, 2019 11:08 AM

Some online comments:

"I like Tatum. However, I agree with those who say she's not telling the full story. I respect her for admitting her own faults that she's not a perfect mother, etc. But I do think she may be hotheaded and temperamental like Ryan. I have a feeling they may be similar temperament-wise."

"Tatum's mother Joanna Moore was on her third husband (O'Neal) before she was 30. Even Andy Griffin couldn't stand her and had her written out after four episodes of playing Peg, his love interest. The woman was a cluster fuck and you are assigning all the blame to Ryan?"

"Tatum O'Neal had an insane Hollywood childhood. That's unfortunate, but she is in no way an admirable person. And at the height of her child star fame she behaved like any other spoiled brat, expecting people to defer to her and obey her every command. I remember some tabloid story on her long ago that claimed she was "the biggest Hollywood brat since the Dead End kids."

" I think that many Hollywood actors are narcissists and very bad parents as well, the difference is that Ryan's kids didn't have good mothers to live with (except for Patrick, that's why he turned out okay), Tatum and griffin's mother was totally crazy/unfit and Farrah was nuts and an addict. I really think if other Hollywood actors were given the responsibility to solely raise their children, the outcome probably would be similar to Ryan's kids. Tony Curtis comes to mind, he was self absorbed and wasn't meant to be a father, and gave some of his kids drugs but the difference is that his kids were raised by their mothers who were Not crazy."

by Anonymousreply 112September 7, 2019 12:52 PM

So much crazy in Hollywood. So many bi-polar and borderline personalities. Why? Is it the empty hole that the drive for fame and adulation fills?

by Anonymousreply 113September 7, 2019 12:58 PM

"Tatum said in the book that when her father was going to be staying in Ireland to shoot the Kubrick film she was going to have to go back to boarding school and didn't understand why her grandparents wouldn't keep her. I'll tell you why - she was a borderline sociopath - attempted to kill a cat, stole things, made up lies, set fires. Not sure how much of that is in her DNA or was triggered by the neglect and abuse in her very early childhood development with her mother."

"I remember Ryan and Tatum reality show, if anything Tatum seemed like a bit of a troublemaker. She just couldn't let it go and really kept digging."

"Why did/does Tatum hold Farrah responsible for ruining her relationship with her father?!! by Tatum's account in her book, the relationship was ruined long before that. She acts like she got dumped by some long-time boyfriend when Ryan took up with Farrah."

"Tatum seems like she was a handful herself. A big Hollywood star at far too young an age and a very insecure big obnoxious brat. She seems like she keeps have drug related relapses and is still very insecure. But as long as she continues to blame Fawcett and having affairs with people like Rosie she'll be doomed."

An example of Tatum leaving out unfavorable stories about herself, though this story was mentioned in both Ryan and John McEnroe books:

From Ryan's book: As I was going through my journals for this book, I found an entry from that New Year’s morning that gave me pause. Tatum and John had come to LA to attend a party. They brought Patrick to the party with them. They all stayed at the beach house with Farrah and me.

JOURNAL ENTRY, JANUARY 1, 1985

"John and Tate have left for the airport to fly to Las Vegas so he can play tomorrow against Conners. Tatum’s first match. After they left, Patrick told me something unusual. When they got home last night at four a.m., Tatum wanted to continue to party, which included tequila shots and pool until sunrise.Patrick finally put her to bed after she started to see the pool balls two at a time."

From John McEnroe's book:

Tatum and I spent Christmas in New York, then flew back to L.A. for New Year's Eve. That night, we and a few friends went out drinking, then later, the two of us were back at Ryan's house, playing pool with Tatum's half-brother Patrick. By now it was three or four in the morning, and I had to fly to Vegas the next day to get ready for an event. Finally, I said, "Look, I've got to go to bed."

Tatum stayed up, drinking and playing pool with Patrick. I don't know when she came to bed, but it probably wasn't until six or seven. At around eleven A.M., I nudged her and said, "Listen, I'm going to Vegas. Do you want to come?" I had had enough of L.A. and partying, for the time being: I was a tennis player, I wanted to go play tennis.

An example of Tatum leaving out unfavorable stories about herself, though this story was mentioned in both Ryan and John McEnroe books, This story also indicates Ryan's presence in her life after Farrah and Tatum freely coming over and staying over Farrah's place as she wanted. Not the wrong story, Tatum likes to spread around that her father was absent from her life after Farrah, Ryan included his kids but Tatum was hateful and jealous no matter how Ryan tried.

From Ryan's book:

"As I was going through my journals for this book, I found an entry from that New Year’s morning that gave me pause. Tatum and John had come to LA to attend a party. They brought Patrick to the party with them. They all stayed at the beach house with Farrah and me.

When they got home last night at four a.m., Tatum wanted to continue to party, which included tequila shots and pool until sunrise.Patrick finally put her to bed after she started to see the pool balls two at a time."

I was so relieved to see Tatum and Farrah getting along for a change that I didn't worry that my daughter, who’d never been a drinker, who would confiscate my glass when she was a little girl, had gotten wasted the night before.

Farrah had admitted to me two months earlier, when she was seven months pregnant, that Tatum and John had offered her cocaine. I was surprised because at the time Tatum was still proclaiming her objections to drugs and alcohol. I assumed John was the instigator and Tatum just went along."

From John McEnroe's book:

Tatum and I spent Christmas in New York, then flew back to L.A. for New Year's Eve. That night, we and a few friends went out drinking, then later, the two of us were back at Ryan's house, playing pool with Tatum's half-brother Patrick. Online comments on Ryan and Tatum reality show:

"It appears Tatum refused to accept that her Father also had his own life and was jealous of Farrah being with her dad. Tatum just grew up far too quickly without any discipline. Tatum Not understanding of the love you have for your girlfriend/wife is a different love that you feel for your children."

"Both are the same difficult, this is just made to make money! She is old enough to heal her self and then have a healthier relation ship whit him. When you heal the rest of the world reaction doesn't affect any more. She wants to control him "

"They're both exactly the same - Narcissistic, can't let go of the past, unable to take responsibility for themselves & constantly blaming each other. He wasn't a good dad but clearly loved her, she wasn't a good daughter but clearly loved him. Tatum needs to leave the past behind, agree to never go there or talk about it, and move into the present and just enjoy each other's company whilest keeping a slightly formal boundary. Then the love that's a seed may grow. But this will never happen unless she let go of the past. Hope she manages it before one of them dies."

by Anonymousreply 117September 8, 2019 12:54 AM

"Ryan IS trying to make amends, but she wants blood. Tatum wants to change the past and it's not possible. Her Father wants healing and she wants his blood. She herself has made alot of mistakes and that's on her. There comes a time that you have to admit your own mistakes. She doesn't seem to take responsibility for her own mistakes. Her insane jealousy of Farah is her issue. Grow up Tatum. He's apologized. The fact that Ryan loved Farah will never change."

"Both of these people are SO self-centred. Goodness, And this pampered father and daughter, one 70 and the other 47, are arguing about things that "happened" in the past. It is comical and so sad at the same time. Grow up, Tatum. And start taking responsibility for your own life. And it is all so fake. Didn't Tatum write a memoir before this show? Therefore, why is she saying she is afraid that her father will be angry if he finds out what she has told the therapist. Gosh, she had already told everyone everything in her book. Ryan O'Neil was probably a very immature father, But had she not been his daughter, she probably would not have had her big break in films. And this show would not have been made! (I think child actors have a very hard time, indeed and many end up in a sad place when the spotlight is no longer on them.)"

"She needs to stop blaming Farrah. I doubt Farrah knew what to do with Tatum or Griffin."

by Anonymousreply 118September 8, 2019 12:54 AM

"you can take it as he is with bad temper because he is your father and you can't change that or you can leave it and stay far away of him if you consider it a negative influence to your life....but to try to change his behaviour in front of public eyes to humiliate him and show to everyone how loser of a father he is after he tried to make amends with you, show how stupid your mind functions, Tatum and explain your failures in life.."

"I don't get it.......Why would Tatum invite someone ( 20yr blonde ) to her Birthday with the intention of sitting her next to Ryan so "to make him happy" etc. Tatum blames Ryan for all her drug problems, then persuades this young girl whom has just admitted to overcoming her own drug problems and demons to sit with the same man whom she accuses of domestic violence, drug abuse, etc............Such strange behavior by Tatum in this episode."

"Ryan is an alpha male. He is what he is. Tatum has too much time on her hands. She needs to work and do something for at least 8 hours a day instead of thinking about her dad. Sort of sick actually. I think Tatum is a spoiled brat!"

"He should be forgiven for asking his brat grandson to get out of the car? so what!! families fight all the time. and why did he ask the snotnose to get out of the car in the first place. why are they leaving that out. annoying. she is so patronizing towards him"

by Anonymousreply 119September 8, 2019 12:55 AM

"Episode 1 or 2, she was grilling him and he said" I'm sorry I went to Farrah's..." But for some reason she won't let the past go and fix the damages and move on. Ryan made a statement .... Farrah's gone and she ain't coming back so what's Tatum's problem!!! I truly believe She didn't just love him she was in love with him...Farrah's gone Tatum so you got him back again. Stop whining about the past and move on with him if you love him so much. One day he won't be here and you'll have serious regrets. I'm not saying that Ryan's perfect at all but he is trying and your not. You wanna make him pay for dumping you for a woman."

"Tatum just pushes and pushes. Stop blaming Farrah. When Tatum says Farrah was better than me. He said no she wasn't. Tatum goes around in circles. I would get tired of that manipulation. She bombards him over and over. He tried and tried for her. But she resists everything he attempts toward reconciliation. And then blames him."

"Tatum has to quit living in the past!! She needs to seek therapy for her issues and quit trying to control how her dad copes with his!!!"

" Ryan is really trying here, and Tatum won't give him any slack. He's still mourning Farrah, he agreed to do the show, agreed to go into therapy, agreed to go to Palm Springs, agreed to go to Tatum's birthday party. I've seen anyone go the extra mile like Ryan here."

"Tatum is so difficult herself!! She keeps pushing him. I doubt I'd have a cool temper with someone so annoying and pushy."

by Anonymousreply 120September 8, 2019 12:55 AM

"I'm all for them mending there relationship but, Tatum omg you wanted Ryan to see a therapist and he's doing that. I can't understand why she tries to get him in a bad place by poking over and over again. the relationship won't heal if she's constantly reminding him what a bad father he was. Did anyone see her face when he told her " the reason we lost our closeness was because of Farrah. She shot him a look like .... You mf don't say that woman's name around me ever!!!! 🤔 she's extremely jealous of a dead woman."

" I remember years ago reading how Tatum hated any girlfriends he had and tried to scare them off"

"I like Ryan more, She pushes him. Don't like her. Such a bad mum. And drug addicted. What a bad role model. And for that she blames her dad? Just unbelievable!"

"Jesus Tatum.....relax a little.....stop getting in his face, just go with the flow already......Ryan is coping well unless you continue to pester him........eventually a dog will growl if poked at so much!"

"It looks to me like he's trying and she's antagonizing him. She's a spoiled brat."

by Anonymousreply 121September 8, 2019 12:56 AM

"Tatum had a very unhealthy jealousy towards Farrah, then she punished him by abandoning him, now she want's blame him for her drug addiction which she enjoyed until it almost killed her."

"Tatum pisses me off! She wants his support but can’t give him support over her own jealousy issues...yes I get it I get it, he abandoned his kids “for Farrah” it’s done, she’s gone, he’s still mourning...she needs a meeting and a session because she is actually being quite selfish and in that selfishness, she can ever heal"

"These 2 episodes is when the tide kind of shifted for me & seeing Ryan isn't as messed up as much as I thought he was & I saw Tatum in a new way also"

"A LOT of people go through shit in their childhoods and they make it out fine. IMHO, Ms. O'Neal has a problem taking responsibility. I was around a lot of drugs too, as a child, with an addicted parent. GUESS WHAT? I NEVER took them. Stayed as far away from them as possible. Perhaps Ms. O'Neal needs to let go of the past. She cannot be two places at once. The future is a whole lot brighter and she should move on."

"Tatum clearly has issues. She seems to be possessive and jealous. Her father may have neglected her but she was 16. He had other needs. Why lash out at him by cutting relations for 25 years! Move on already. It's not like you were any better from your alcoholic and substance abuse losing your own kids later on."

"Tatum says she wishes her father would acknowledge how he neglected her and her brother for Farrah. Never does she acknowledge she threw away her kids for drugs! Excuse me -- get help Tatum and quit living in the past. She says she 'tried to talk to him' when in fact she was VERY accusatory. Really??? Very narcissistic individual"

"Why would you end the Washington trip for Farrah tribute like that Tatum?? Why didn't you just let him have his day. Boo Hoo when you get home, Bring up your so called horrendous life when you get home .He's 70years old. He doesn't want the past brought up .Your not going to force him to admit anything. You are wasting time.Tatum, are your children doing this to you YET??"

by Anonymousreply 122September 8, 2019 12:56 AM

"Tatum SO FLIPPIN clearly sees Farrah as 'competition' (even after her death) as if she was Ryan's girlfriend. It's pathetically sad that Tatum feels she was in a competition with Farrah. She is unable to separate Ryan's relationship between her the daughter and Farrah the lover. it is total illness. Tatum completely acts like she should be all to her dad. daughter, lover, all encompassing person and his reason for living. I'm done with these totally screwed up people. Her far more so than him. "

"You could see Tatum simmering/seething when Ryan brought up going to see the home movies of Farrah. She needs to get over it. I mean, seriously, WTF? She was SO jealous of Farrah. She's a grown-ass woman and needs to MOVE ON and handle it. Feel, deal and HEAL, for God's sake."

"She is selfish, passive aggressive, and blames all of her bad behavior on her dad. She's so irritating, the suffering martyr, and wants to PUNISH her dad."

"Ryan O'Neal is light weight to my dad and a lot of Dads, Tatum. He cooperated. He did this show. He went to therapy. I use to like her best. I find him a more engaging person. I stopped seeing his movies after he beat Griffin...been there...now I know there is always another side."

"Tatum, when your kids come to you with their issues (we all have them,) will you still blame it on your Father. You don't seem to talk about your Mom issues oddly."

"The only person responsible for Tatum’s heroin addiction is Tatum. Period. As a former addict, I know what I’m saying."

"Not taking Ryan's side but Tatum lied she started that fight at the restaurant after the Farrah tribute. Those two are has beens the did this show only for the money & to see if they could get a come back not to get back their relationship."

by Anonymousreply 123September 8, 2019 12:57 AM

"It is clear Tatum is bi polar. one minute she's positive next she's blowing up on Ryan in a total maniac way. she is so off the charts mentally unstable on many levels. several diagnoses i would say but first foremost a textbook classic narcissist. she is trying to blame her horrible life on Ryan. She was separated from him for years yet continued to choose drugs, alcohol even when she says her life was perfect with her three kids. she wants a fall guy, ie DAD. she has never been able to sustain sobriety for any length of time. She's likely off the wagon right now. Some people just can't be fixed."

"Watched enough of these episodes recently to see Tatum is/was clearly a very jealous individual. Terribly envious of FF. Just SO self-absorbed. You're an old lady now, Tatum (you're my age). Get over it already! My dad "abandoned" me and my 5 sibs (and mother) at an even earlier age-- we never saw the dead-beat dad except for tennis games, but we accepted things-- grew into teenagers, then adults-- and made the best of it. We let our parents LIVE THEIR lives (they are entitled to lives/happiness). Get off the pity pot and leave your poor dad alone. He's mourning Farrah-- and likely always will. And that's ok, it's HIS prerogative. He's trying to please you, clearly. You and your brother really take the cake-- spoiled brats!!! You ruined their chances of a decent life together. You did!! Just self-centered AA bullshit now. You've GOT to be so humiliated/ashamed in watching these now... always BLAMING your dad for all YOUR poor choices/shitty life. Hope you got over yourself by now! Sickening to watch you. Boo-hoo."

by Anonymousreply 124September 8, 2019 12:57 AM

"Gee this seems like a selfish and immature woman. She seems more like the mind of a 20 something than almost 50. Maybe addiction stunted her. She's jealous of a dead woman ..can't he even have that outside of her ?? She has an unhealthy wife-like fixation for her father and always did in my opinion .."

"I like Tatum and Ryan but I think Tatum being jealous over Farrah 3 - 4 years after her passing is ridiculous. Also Tatum's son holding Ryan solely responsible for Tatum being an addict is BS. Tatum injected those drugs all by herself. It's an easy way out for Tatum not to take any blame at all for being an addict."

"I think Tatum is jealous and an attention seeker, No one asks about her and everyone sat at the table wasn't asking about her and rightfully so, it was Farrahs day. she is intolerant of anyone who don't kiss her butt"

"Tatum is constantly wiping away tears. I have yet to see a real tear. Families can be complicated, but it can’t always be sweet and neat. Learn from it and move on. Reliving it will not help anyone."

"He was in a fine mood at dinner looking forward to seeing his grandson till Tatum started a huge fight. She asked to see her mom's house. she is lying."

"They are both Narcs. She is covert and he is NOT - but both from the same cloth."

by Anonymousreply 125September 8, 2019 12:57 AM

"Tatum has already told Ryan so many horrible things and an awful book and she still can't let it go. He comes off as really trying. It definitely sounds like she turned her own children against him. Destroying your father before the world is unforgivable."

"The man had her when he was 22. What 22 year old has one clue what they are doing? She could consider that. Twenty years old! So when she was in paper moon he was still in his TWENTIES.... He probably wasn't what any kid needed. He was a polished movie star with kids when he just got finished being a teenager. My childhood was CRAP but I had no time to indulge in soul searching, drugs, alcohol, whining or any other luxury. I had responsibility. My crappy childhood would have been so much better if everyone around me were a millionaire. I mean.... money doesn't buy everything but living in Malibu on the beach would have been better than the hell hole I was stuck in. There sure has to be an end to torturing an elderly parent at some point. We get it. He sucks. For gods sake MOVE ON. My dad was the biggest loser that ever lived....I didn't let that define me."

"After watching this, Ryan doesn't seem like such a bad guy. I mean yes he made mistakes but she needs to forgive and move on. That's the only way they can move on as father and daughter."

"She has her own guilt about what she did to herself and her kids. She can't keep blaming to take focus off that she is an addict that is dangerous"

by Anonymousreply 126September 8, 2019 12:58 AM

"This DUMB Tatum who barely has a vocabulary, can't pronounce 'visceral' etc etc is a total text book narcissist. Farrah is dead and is not responsible for how u grew up so stop trying to blame ur f-d up life on her for taking ur dad. Stop the fucking memememememememe. U R A PAIN THE ARSEHOLE. I truly believe u LOVE being a martyr. feeds ur narcissism. i do believe u should work ur issues in therapy and keep doing tell all nasty BS books. get a job if u need money. a job that doesn't include selling out ur family and profiting from old history. MOVE ON. U R SO STUCK IN THE PAST AND NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE U UNLESS U DEAL W UR NARCISSISM."

"Everyone blames him but doesn’t blame the mother who abandoned the kids first. The man wanted a woman in his life. "

"What a jealous brat... she made her own choices... people are around drugs and don't use. Grow up!!! ... keep on kicking him!!! It's sickening to watch her..."

by Anonymousreply 127September 8, 2019 12:58 AM

"Wow Tatum I just lost any respect I had for you. You clearly lied to your therapist when you said ... At lunch my dad got mad at me because he was in a bad mood LIAR!! Ryan got mad because you started attacking him at lunch. That man came to lunch and gave you a present then you went in to the attack mode!! I would have walked out to get away from you too.

Then you tell your therapist that he's driving around LA showing you where you were born. Sorry hunny but you clearly wanted to see your parents old house when they were married. We all heard you say it. Now you're lying on Ryan making yourself the victim so we all can feel sorry for you 😒 you even cried talking about Farrah and how she was this famous poster girl from the 70'S. Your jealousy has turned into envy and hate.

Now your trying to rebuild a relationship with your father but your stuck in the past that you can't move forward. Your father did love you but WTH he was a grown man with needs.why was it so wrong he wanted a real love story? This relationship is weird as hell!! You need him to be a good father. And from the pictures I've seen you were his companion well onto your late teens. then he met Farrah and you felt replaced and it was like ...it's me or her choose!!

You are 50 years old now and you still don't understand that as an adult male he needed passion, love, romance from a woman not his daughter!!! This was supposed to be a show about reconnecting with your father but, anyone who's watching can see your strange obsession with your father"

by Anonymousreply 128September 8, 2019 12:59 AM

"I do not have sympathy for Tatum. She reminds me of a self involved spoiled child who is angry because her daddy loved his famous wife who died of cancer. Her issues go way back long before Ryan met Farrah and all she wants to do is wallow in her misery."

"Tatum needs a new significant other in her life. She’s expecting too much from her father. He is sorry already. I she will keep leading him to her slaughter table as long as she can. She wants to punish him over and over for her hurt feelings. This is beyond cruel of her to do this publicly."

"When he dies, she will have her hand out- first in line.He is right; she is a blamer. Drama queen."

"You have to watch the interview with her and Barbara Walters , she did look high but she tells stories about her husband and she said she got on heroin because of her divorce. Now she blaming Ryan. She just keep blaming everybody and can't get her story straight"

"He has admitted it but she keeps bringing it all up again when he does not act or speak the way she wants him to-what does she want? Nothing will be enough for her because he can't change the past and she is stuck in the past"

"This show doesn't ring totally true to me. Tatum goes from hating him to forgiving him with no apparent reason. I wonder how much of it was scripted. I do think it's interesting though. I started out thinking Ryan was a total asshole and Tatum was a victim and nice. after watching most of it, I think Ryan isn't that bad far as how he seems to be trying with his daughter. Tatum seems somewhat manipulative. Both seem sort of narcissistic. they are quite a bit alike in some ways but that makes sense since it's father and daughter. "

" I don't understand why everybody believes everything that comes out of Tatum's mouth. She's been through so much therapy that she knows exactly what to say & how to say it to make him look bad. . Her life is gone to s*** in every way and she wants to blame it on somebody else...Why not Dad. She just needed to sell her freaking book !!!"

"Ryan is the more heroic of the two. He is a man with huge personal defects giving 110% with the pockets of capacity that he has. I came away admiring his striving for good."

"People change. However she is spoiled little brat. She was jealous of Farrah. Jealous of anyone he loves other than herself. She is spoiled. I want grab her and shack her tell her he won’t be here forever "

"Ryan really tried to hear Tatums words and bring joy back into their lives but Tatum just kept dragging him down that dark hole. I watched the whole series twice and I came away feeling that Ryan really wanted Tatum in his life but Tatum carried negative energy."

"His daughter delights in being cruel to him. She's very manipulative."

Tatum couldn’t pronounce ‘visceral’? WTF?

Did Tatum ever graduate high school or get a GED?

From an online article about the O'Neals:

"Patrick is rarely asked to comment on the family, probably because he has nothing sensational to say about his father or his brothers and sister. In 2012, however, he wrote a piece in praise of his father, describing Ryan as his ‘hero’, and a kind and loving father. He defiantly rejected all the negative talk show appraisals of the man, declaring that none of the people on the panels knew his father at all.

It is a compelling piece made more compelling because it comes from the only family member without substance abuse issues. So, do we believe two substance abusers or one sportscaster? Tatum and Griffin say one thing; Patrick the opposite. Redmond (the other substance abuser) does not seem to say much either way.

More than likely the truth about Ryan O’Neal lies somewhere between the two extremes – not exactly the devil incarnate, but scarcely ‘Father of the Year’ material either."

Given Tatum and Griffin's horror early life with their unstable negligent mother, Those kids were already far damaged when they came to live with their father (who didn't know how to be a parent himself), Tatum also displayed sociopathic behavior such as lying, stealing and setting fires.

They needed to be put in a rehabilitation school. The last thing they needed was a a Hollywood fast life style and a playboy actor. But he was the more responsible parent compared to the mother.

Still, the mother was a cluster fuck and Tatum/people are assigning all the blame to Ryan, which is ridiculous and unfair.

tatum__oneal My dad saw I didn’t what a shame

Tatum is implying that Ryan blacklisted her?!! The man was pretty much unemployable/blacklisted himself in Hollywood and couldn't get work since 1979.

She can't understand or grasp that fact that she sucked as an adult actress, that's why she's a flop since forever. Makes one wonder how much of her stories are fictions and delusions.

People calling Tatum out on her BS after Windy Williams interview:

"Wendy asked Tatum about the stuff that Tatum wrote in Tatum’s book. I’ve read the book. Tatum is the crazy one. I can’t stand Melanie Griffin because of Tatum’s book. Tatum got on WW and acted like this is the first time she’s ever heard of this. Whatever!"

"Wendy was a little off but she explained everything and tatum you are a heart but you exposed your life in the first place of course media will make a headlight out of it! you know the business more than anyone"

"Regardless, it’s extremely tacky to hop to the next segment and publicly bash her. Just was unnecessary. Tatums character is showing, she’s got a gossipy backbiting spirit about her."

"Ok, I just watched the interview with Wendy and what she says here is dishonest in more ways than i can count. And i really have no appreciation for Wendy whatsoever or how she conducts the interviews or her show.

First of all, Wendy was nowhere near as aggressive as she is portraying here. Tatum was initiating all the problematic stories of abuse herself, not Wendy, and than she was asked something about it. Every interviewer would do the same. And i bet you that if Oprah was sitting there instead of Wendy, Tatum wouldn't be having this conversation. Furthermore, you can't get any celeb in Hollywood without a prep for the interview where a guest will discuss the exact things they will be talking about. There are no surprises there.

Secondly, even if she changed her mind in the very last minute during the interview and had decided that she doesn't feel comfortable talking about her life and family in ways which the host expected (which is perfectly fine), what she did here after the interview is really redundant and ugly and honestly makes a person question not only her honesty but her sanity as well.

What she comes across like here is nothing but a screwed up, vain, manipulative celeb who didn't like how she looked like and is now compensating by shitting on a person she was dealing with. Basically, she is just confirming the reputation she has always had.

She is so clearly trying to manipulate the situation here but in such a malicious way, that just makes a listener cringe."

"Wendy basically said the same thing about Tatum the next day on air and said Tatum told her afterwards that she was sorry for giving a bad interview and asked could she come back again. "

"Wendy Said Tatum had a heads up of what questions she was going to ask beforehand and when she got there she didn't want to answer them. I believe Wendy."

"Tatum was open to everything until she arrived late and acted brand new during the actual interview. I was sitting there wondering why her nasty ass dad wasn’t brought up more and Tatum was really sitting there talking like she was a normal girl. She couldn’t explain why she was living with Cher as a kid. It was such an awkward interview."

"I saw the Tatum interview and Tatum kept yapping like she was taking control before Wendy could ask her questions"

"Tatum was briefed then showed up late and missed her second briefing. She then tried to pretend like nothing happened. She was supposed to talk about the controversial shit but back peddled on the couch. Wendy explained this on her show."

"Tatum is delusional. She DID bring up the movie and showed a pic of it. Tatum agreed to discuss these topics then is pretending she never agreed to. Also she wrote about these issues in her book then is denying them."

"Tatum states she had nooo idea how Wendy straight talks because she hasn't seen enough of the "Wendy Show" yet in the very next breath she goes on to state Wendy isn't the same since her fainting spell and she's very different to the point Tatum was worried when she left.......if she doesn't know anything about Wendy than how is she going to speak on her "worry" for her??!! Actually Tatum looked high (it's all in the eyes........the eyes don't lie) on the couch with Wendy, showed up late, and then didn't talk about ANYTHING she AGREED to speak about so maybe it's actually Tatum needs to be worried about her continual drug use and not ever being accountable for HER actions!"

by Anonymousreply 141September 18, 2019 1:36 PM

" Tatum is either lying or doesn't remember that Wendy did indeed mention her movie (3 times); in fact they talked about it. But hey, this is what happens when two (former?) addicts get together."

"You wrote the book about your life!! How can you NOT wanna answer questions? Wendy absolutely DID mention the movie, at the very end she said the title and release date. You’re the one who was late and told the producer that nothing was off limits. Next time, be vigilant, be on time! You even told this interviewer “ ask me anything “ !!"

"e Tatum was all over the place and didn't answer any questions just sat there as if this is the first time she heard these questions she wrote about in her book answer them or don't interview people are going to ask you about your past Behavior you led a wild crazy life even into your forties"

"Wendy said this woman was aware of what questions were going to be asked and Tatum was the one acting clueless. After show Tatum apologized and said she'd come back and spill the tea. Tatum full of 💩"

"Tatum O’Neal is a psychopath; and she would lie about anything and anyone to suit her agenda. Really Tatum is a wash-up has-been trying who will do anything to attention so she will seem like she is still relevant. Nothing she says is worth any attention"

" The things Wendy asked was true as well, like Tatum doing drugs with John McEnroe but she said she didn't start doing drugs until after they were divorced and her kids weren't living with her then."

"Uhhhh...Tatum Wendy mentioned your movie, so that's a lie. You could have watched a few of Wendy's shows to get a feel for how interviews go. Please. Stop playing the victim"

"This woman is a liar and she knew damn well what topics would be discuss during the interview she arrived late and she's done drugs all her life and has been a emotional wreck she has a lot of nerve to talk about Wendy's behavior"

by Anonymousreply 143September 18, 2019 1:48 PM

A spot on review of Tatum's self serving book "A paper life"

Tatum O'Neal, throw your tantrums -- away

"Where is our pity supposed to land here? Yes, Tatum had bad parents.....Now, aware as we all are of what devilry too often occurs behind innumerable closed familial doors, we still only care if it happened to someone who, say, pitched for the Bad News Bears or jinxed John McEnroe's career, and could still not care less about the less adorable, less visible victims who rarely have the option to take off to Malibu when mom's starting to play blindfolded hacky-sack with the wine bottles.

Further, as is true of all similar narrators, Tatum O'Neal seems wonderfully oblivious to what a nasty little child she so notoriously was. While she does recount a number of the incidents that led to her nickname "Tantrum" way back when, she always speedily backstrokes over her behaviour by citing her parents' actions.

Such therapy-head nonsense is what led to the 12-step term "adult child," which has led many to believe that deep inside us, a weeping little baby resides, awaiting its rescue through the fishhook that is blame-counselling.

If Tatum offered her obviously barely loved brother ice cream, then shoved it in his face; if she rampantly insulted every adult in her line of fire; if she hooked up with a crack dealer while her fitness as a mother was being publicly contested, whose fault is that?

Fighting Irish fathers and pill-bombed mothers are excellent reasons for any child to complain about his or her lost security, and bad love.

Yet at a certain point, such awful memories need to be put in perspective as crises that besieged the child; that no longer define the man or woman in question. Not one of the crybabies cited ever confessed that they were nightmares-in-training themselves, or, more critically, that it is not appropriate for an adult to lament one's childhood as if puling over the loss of a beloved plush toy.

Then again, there is nowhere else for someone like Tatum O'Neal to live but the past, in that blurry world where she and her father were actually revered for their acting, where both of their vivid tantrums were respectfully endured, not as object lessons in their inner pain, but as evidence that stars may burn as brightly as they like, before falling.

Tatum also claims that MJ wrote “She’s Out of My Life” for her, Even though he didn't write the song.

"From Tatum O'Neal's book: "I absolutely adored Michael–as a friend–and I admire him to this day. I believe that he fell in love with me. I’m told that he wrote the song “She’s Out of My Life” on his album Off the Wall for me. What an honor."

Enough now! Tatum was an idiot. Blaming her father for everything. She is guilty, that she took drugs! She could have stopped. She messed up her career HERSELF. And did t stop drugs HERSELF. She was toxic to her dad herself. And blames all her drug ADDICTION on Ryan?!! I'm really fed up of Tatum and Griffin. Terrible. How these 2 went around selling bad stories. I've no respect for them .

Tatum is talking about winning the Oscar, she says that her father coached her how to walk and accept and helped her selecting her outfit and that he always said she would win.

Of course all of this was not in her self serving book. She only said that Vivian Kubrick (who is a nut conspiracy theorist) told her that her father "socked" her but she doesn't remember it and she must have blocked it out of her memory.

Blocked memories?!! I'm pretty sure that never happened.

by Anonymousreply 148September 28, 2019 12:28 AM

R148 Exactly!

Sadly, everybody is going by Tatum's ridiculous "blocked memory". The incident Tatum herself admitted she doesn't remember happening but only repeating what her nut conspiracy theorist friend said and people believe her made up story as a matter of fact.

Why didn't Tatum detail or even mention in her book how her father coached her how to walk and accept her award and selecting her outfit for the ceremony? because it's a positive story about her father and contradicts her one sided narrative.

Tatum O'Neal Blames John McEnroe for her drug addiction, (It's always other people's fault??)

O'Neal: John was off playing tennis and I was alone in his New York City apartment. John had a safe. There were drugs in it - some pills and at least an ounce of cocaine. Like many people in the 80's, when coke was a staple at parties, John kept drugs around for hospitality, I guess, like having a wine cellar. And that's sort of when I realized that I would do drugs alone. I didn't need anyone to do them with me. That I was a drug addict."

Phillips: "You went back to the safe and back to the safe—"

O'Neal: "Well, yeah. I did them all by myself. I did all these drugs by myself."

Tatum says when John got back and found out what she had done, his famous temper flared. She says John thought he could fix her problem. If she got pregnant, he believed she would stop using drugs.

Phillips: "The cure—"

O'Neal: "Yeah. I wouldn't try that for everybody."

Phillips: "But for you it worked?"

O'Neal: "Well, yeah. I didn't want to be like my mother. You know I didn't want to be this crazy mother, which I sort of later ended up later on being."

Phillips: "His temper, his outbursts, are pretty well known."

O'Neal: "Yeah."

Phillips: "What about you?"

O'Neal: "I have a temper, but I wouldn't call me abusive."

Phillips: "He says that while you accuse him of being a bully, that you gave as good as you got."

O'Neal: "That makes sense, yeah. Although, I think he's the bigger bully. Being away from John and away from the kids, that's when all my demons came right back."

Phillips: "How painful was that for you?"

O'Neal: "Horrendous. The most horrendous thing. And I'm so terribly sad that my daughter Emily walked into that room and that, you know, things get so sloppy when you're under the influence. And it's tragic and awful"

Phillips: "Do you blame John McEnroe for taking the precautions that he did?"

O'Neal: "Well, no."

Phillips: "I mean wanting supervised visits, wanting drug tests? So where's the beef with him?"

O'Neal: "I don't have a beef with him on the testing and stuff. I have a beef with him on the way he's treated me. John was a volatile person and said to me, ‘You suck. You're a has-been. You're nothing. You mean nothing, Tatum. You'll never make it. Without me, you're nothing, and if you think you're ever, you know, forget the abusive drugs, if you think you're ever going to get these kids, you know, you can never get them. You'll never see them.' What do I have to live for in my life? I'm worthless."

Is Tatum blaming others unfairly for her own addiction?

Phillips: "At what point do you have to take personal responsibility for it?"

O'Neal: "I do. I do take responsibility for it. I admit to having a problem. I have been to numerous treatment centers. But chemical dependency is not a right to be punishing me for the rest of my life."

I'm sorry, but her blaming everything on her dad and how he's the root of all of her troubles is Tired. Well then will she be the root of her kids troubles? (Her kids couldn't even live with her till they reached 18 b/c of her addictions. And the baby even found a dirty needle.) Jeez. At some point you need to take responsibility for yourself. And this chick clearly has not ever. I watched their show on OWN and my God woman, grow up, let it GOOOOOO. How old are you, if you haven;t gone over all the sh*t ryan's done by now and felt and filtered it, you need a new and better therapist.

You see, she'll always have a "problem" being sober unless she looks at herself and sees what her responsibility lies in all of this. Enough with blaming Ryan. Ryan is her excuse. B/c as long as she came blame him, she harbors no responsibility. And again, that is why she never changes. So there.

I know. because I've been there done that.

"Tatum said her daddy is a savior (in her biography or an interview)because her mummy was crazy and a violent abuser and finally she only lived with him.I remember also that Ursula Andress wrote Ryan O'Neal was a hippie At a moment, you need to stop to blame the others ,to take responsibility on your addictions and to go ahead."

"Maybe I'm stupid, but I think there comes a point when you have to stop blaming others for your messed-up life and fix what you can (your life, not theirs). Remember her mom abandoned her, too. Ryan is messed up, for sure, but Tatum needs to get on with fixing her problems and not relying on Ryan to grow up."

"Just because you had a (totally) shit childhood does not give you a pass to be an idiot. This is precisely what addicts try to lean on to explain away their douchey behavior. I went to rehab very young and you bet your sweet ass I owned up to my own shit. Only I can control how I react to something. Same with her. There are many many many many many people in this world with worse lives "
