Is anyone else watching "Why Women Kill" on CBS All Access?
One House, three decades, three murders.
Lucy Liu is camping it up in the 80s section.
Ginnifer Goodwin is actually acting in 1964.
Reid Scott from VEEP shows his ass in present day.
So far I'm pretty charmed.
Anyone else?
(And, yes, I know Marc Cherry has been problematic)

Yes, I'm watching. It's okay for now, if a bit slow. I wanted to create a thread about it, but it hasn't made my recommended list just yet.
Lucy Liu is great but she can't quite commit in those moments when it's time to go full Dynasty cunt. I don't blame her; it's not like she's done anything like this before.
Reid Scott does has a nice bum and just a cute body in general.

I wish it was on regular CBS as opposed to CBS All Access, but they can actually cuss on there.
Saw the pilot, would have continued watching it if I had Access.

I watched it. Lucy is a mediocre actress but I always enjoy her for some reason. The 80's attire isn't flattering on her short figure. is her lover boy an asian - white mix of some kind? He's very handsome. The modern day story is depressing me because Eli is such a sap and Jade's character is written as a stalker sociopath. The 60's story has the most potential.

r3 British on father's side, Russian-Jewish and Austrian-Jewish on mother's. He does look "adjacent" from certain angles. He's also straight and owns a gorgeous sheepdog with its own Insta account.

Lucy Lui is certainly the weak link in the production. I know she's the biggest star in the cast and probably the reason it got green lit in the first place, but she's not great in this.
Every time Katie Finneran has a scene with her, I think, "Wow, they should have switched parts." Finnerran nails the 80s arch vibe.

It's Desperate Housewives -lite but not as snappy. Even the fact that Liu's character is sleeping with her friend's son, similar to Eva Longoria's character sleeping with her teenaged gardener.
I do love seeing Jack Davenport.

I like it, though it’s clearly a Marc Cherry show. If you enjoyed DH, you’ll enjoy this, and the different decades thing does make it different. I did think the 3rd episode was a bit weaker than the first two.
Was WWK made for regular network tv? There are breaks in the episodes that look as if they’re clearly commercial breaks.

It's too slow, the colours are too saturated, and now Marc Cherry has written a letter of support for Huffman to try and reduce her sentence. Fuck him, I'm done with this show.
Lucy Liu's delivery was starting to grate on me, anyway. And there are no proper gay storylines either.

Kinda disappointed. Not much fun, and the two older stories seem pretty standard to me. The contemporary story with the thrupple is the most fresh the show gets.

Lucy Liu was so much more pleasant in Sherlock. She and Jonny Lee Miller simply spoke their stupid lines and the series was somnambulist.

This is way out of Lucy's wheelhouse and he's not great but for some reason I'm enjoying her anyway.
Every now and then she nails a line reading and it's great.

I've kept up with the show for some reason and while I still enjoy Lucy, her voice just disappears when she has to deliver a high-pitched zinger. She really doesn't have the vocal range to be an über bitch. But whatever, casting an AA in this role feels fresh, so I'm willing to overlook that.
Didn't see the gay guy AIDS twist coming, but I guess they couldn't resist. The other two storylines seem way more intense right now. Remind me to never join a fucking throuple; the drama of it all! 😩

Okay, I just rewatched the scene carefully and it's obvious they used a butt double for that shot where he goes into the jacuzzi. Disappointing, but Scott (at least on this show) is the very definition of fit-fat, so it's not surprising he wouldn't be comfortable with showing his ass. Especially when a complete nobody like the actor playing Lucy's boytoy doesn't even show his.
Despite being on a streaming service, this show leans more into profanities than it does into nudity.

Yes, Sam is still quite fapworthy. Between his ginger hair, chest muscles, prominent nose and sexy dick chin, he's worth a load or two. Probably has a fat thick cock, too.

The introduction of AIDS into the '80s story is well done; tasteful and empathetic. The shaming and discrimination by the country club set and neighbors was accurate.

Had a quality dip in the middle, but the last two episodes made it worthwhile.
I thought the choreography of the "death scenes" in the last episode was fascinating, intricate and unlike anything I have ever scene.
Lucy Liu was definitely the weak link, but I think it was mostly she didn't suit the character. I still think she and Katie Finneran should have switched parts. Goodwin, on the other hand, played the last two episodes perfectly.
Glad it is getting another year, and I hope it is many of the same cast. Including Liu in a part that better suits her.

In the early episodes I felt I could see that Lucy wasn't comfortable playing that part. In eps 5-8 it seemed like she was more comfortable and she actually seemed like she was having fun playing that part and I started enjoying watching her enjoying herself. Then when her story with her husband got more serious I thought they were very dear together and I liked seeing her soften and loved seeing them play off each other.
I love Lucy in spite of her flaws.
Goodwin was a stand out for me because I've never heard of her before and she's really good. She was perfect.
I know Kirby Howell Baptiste from the first season of Killing Eve and while her storyline was not the greatest her performance was solid. Wish she had had more to work with.

Simple, elegant, with plenty of nice shifts at the end. The simultaneity of characters in overlapping scenes was brilliant.

It brought back the 80s and 90s and AIDS deaths for me, and I had to struggle through the end. Sweet, but I personally do not need any more AIDS stories. I was surprised the actress/waitress forgave her phony friend.
I'm too lazy to go back, but I do wonder if the flash forward funeral scenes that came earlier are true to final plot.

I just binge-watched this. I have been madly in love with Jack Davenport since The Talented Mr. Ripley and watching his story arc of AIDS was wrenching. He is still beautiful 20 years later.
Lucy Liu was so annoying, especially up til the last three episodes, I felt like f-fing her scenes. She's no Joan Collins.
Ginnifer Goodwin essentially reprised her role as Marjean on Big Love, but she was very watchable.
The current day story was boring.

There are a few plot holes...the last episode shows Beth-Ann, with April's 8 year old daughter, handing the keys to Simone. Clearly Beth-Ann, April and Elsie have been living there since Rob's murder. But how did they make the mortgage payments and property taxes to afford to live there? Beth-Ann had no job history or skills and April was a waitress in a diner. And how did April manage to forgive Beth-Ann for deceiving her and arranging the murder of her lover/child's father? And in 8 years, neither of them had found new partners?
What happened to Mary after Ralph was presumably caught and convicted for Rob's murder?
Also - why did Karl marry Simone? How did they live together for over 10 years without her finding out he was gay? In the last scene, Simone, now elderly, says she came into a lot of money. How? She had had to sell their paintings to pay their bills; she says later that she rented out the house after Karl's death. But would the rental have covered all the associated bills for a Pasadena mansion?

I thought Lucy Liu did a great job with her role. Marc Cherry has a tendency to write archetypes rather than fully-formed characters, so everyone has to work hard to combat the one-dimensionality.
