OK - first of all I made a HUGE mistake moving. here. My friends are close by etc. Holy shit what a ghetto. I live by the beach - and its just as bad. Even Belmont Shore is homeless. Don't get me started on downtown. FUCK! It's unsafe to walk around at night. Pine St is a pretty much Tijuana. OK - the gay scene is horrific. It's where the rejects come to die - mixed with Mexicans who think hot topic is still a thing. It's stuck in 1999. I feel like I'm in Little Rock, AR by the beach. Go to Seaport Village at night - cholos fighting mixed white trash mixed with ugly as fuck gays. I'm breaking my lease.

Look at a Cliff May ranch house before giving up, OP. Are these in bad neighborhoods?

You're not going to the right places, OP. Go out on Broadway. Many bars. There's also another place in North Long Beach. Some decent places on 4th Street, too. Silver Fox, for the older gents, is on Redondo.
Avoid Pine- like New Jersey; god knows avoid Shoreline Village- tourist trap. Avoid 2nd Street- bros, college types and yuppies.
Long Beach is beautiful but don't go out where the college people go.
Belmont Shores is fine. There are homeless people all over LA county and in the good areas, too.

Are you poor OP? It sounds like you moved into the poor area because you are poor.

r4 I've done the broadway scene. They gay bars are TRAGIC. As I mentioned - the rejects from hell follow each other from one bar to the next.
r5 I'm not poor - I live right on Ocean. Noisy as fuck.

Cities are becoming unlivable in general. Gentrified neighborhoods bordering slums. Too many people, too many drugs, too much noise, too much regulation, traffic and parking is always inconvenient, increased racial tensions, areas becoming less safe, etc.
