Oh, holy hell, I’m stuck in a friend’s living room while they get ready. His female roommate has some godawful movie on. Terrible acting and ridiculous, cliched plot. Where do they get these actors?
Lifetime movies

I recently watched their version of Flowers in the Attic and loved it. So campy. The three sequels were middling though.

This one is some dumpy short actress with Antonio Sabato, Jr. called Dance of Death? All I know is shes too thick to play a dancer. And the acting is not good

I love lifetime movies. My guilty pleasure.

R3 I do too. I just wish they had nudity than they would be perfect.

They look like soap sets.

Let me guess the plot: Woman falls in love with handsome stranger, only to learn he is dangerous killer.

Where can one stream lifetime movies

Where bad actors who didn't make it go to flourish, and ultimately die in the sunset.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 24, 2019 2:50 PM |
Lifetime? More like Frautime.

R8 Wasn't Heather Graham considered A List at some point?

My old lady loves Lifetime and Hallmark movies. He's especially obsessed with the Hallmark Christmas movies. It drives me fucking crazy.

Some Lifetime flicks are better than others. Many are good, and a cheap escape from other programming, or reality TV.

Not all of them are terrible. It's hit and miss.

They mostly film up in Canada and most of the casts are filled with awful Canadian actors who never move to the US.

R13 I remember that movie and the Lifetime movies in the late 90s and early 200s weren't all that bad. I loved that campy movie where Rita Wilson played a woman who had an imaginary child.

I recently recorded "My Husband's Secret Life", it was a cut above the teen focused, or cheating murderous spouse formulaic plots. Great espionage thriller, and several talented actors. I think the quality of these films has been improving over the last twenty years. If you haven't tuned in recently, you ought to check them out periodically.

They've made thousands of movies using the same 5 scripts over and over. They just fill in the blanks.
If I had a penny for every time I saw one of those shitty movies and heard the Frau lead scream at a guy saying either "Where is my daughter!?!" or "Stay away from my daughter!!!" I'd have more money than Jeff Bezos.

R17 I once thought that way too, but they're no longer that predictable. You just need to avoid those. (like the Dr. Crazy ones with Eric Roberts) There are several different production teams, and production values have markedly improved. It's quite obvious when one watches some of the older films they air weekly afternoons. There has been a recent focus on screenplays adapted from true stories. "Cocaine Godmother" 2017 was excelkent, and receives 88-90% on the film review sites.

Have an of you ever seen Gospel of Deceit? It's amazing!

I try not to feed the addiction but once spent a few months hooked on these movies. Amazon Prime has a Lifetime subscription channel but their offerings are quite limited at the moment. These movies really take me back to the trashy, melodramatic pulp literature from my youth. If you liked Stine, Pike, Duncan, or any of the Point Horror books of the 90s you're bound to like these movies.

Lots of women psychos appear in these movies now. There was an even a movie about a killer grandma. If it's high concept enough, Lifetime's already done it.

R19 Thanks for the tip, I shall look for it! I have recorded "The Madam of Purity Falls" some time ago, but have yet to watch it. There seems to have been a few with wicked Christian characters, which I find interesting.

R20 BTW, all the "Killer" series or genre are quite good. "Killer Grandma" was excellent, almost camp at times. There's a great Killer MIL film too, but I don't recall the proper title. It involves an art dealer, and her gay sidekick.

As an old saw goes, there are only 36 story lines in Hollywood.

I saw this incredibly stupid Lifetime movie over a year ago about a woman and her toddler son driving around in a smart car designed by her unfaithful husband. Her son who has asthma and is wearing a heavy bear onesie gets locked in the car in the middle of the hot desert without any food or water for at least a day and in the end the mother frees him by pushing the armored car off of a cliff and somehow he is alive and in one piece.

I love the one where Tori Spelling plays some high school studnt hooker. Her acting is so cheesy. The Jodi Arias one was amazing.

Some of them are fun. I was excited when they tackled the Flowers in the Attic series, but all of those felt so rushed and they tried to cram way too much story into 90 minutes. They should have made each book at least a 2 part mini-series. I'm pretty sure they took out the entire first half of Petals on the Wind when they adapted it. The movie opened and half the book had already been taken out. Insane.

I really enjoy the rape ones. I just love it when one of the younger gals gets raped.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 25, 2019 6:28 PM |
R27 "A Lover Scorned" was excellent! Too bad there wasn't more of those two though.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 26, 2019 6:29 AM |
R28 That would be "Law and Order SVU". The raping of young gals is not a recurring theme on Lifetime.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 26, 2019 6:39 AM |
I'm not R28, but I've seen a bunch of Lifetime movies about girls in their teens being raped.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 26, 2019 5:20 PM |
A lot of TV movies that aired on broadcast networks from 70s-90s dealt with teenage girls or college students being raped.
