Rubio as VP? Trump's base will not be happy.
Rumors Trump Will Drop Pence in 2020 For . . .
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 21, 2019 10:42 PM |
If this is something that’s being considered by them, it means that Trump’s racism is finally damaging him in the polls. The El Paso shooter’s motives are impossible to separate from Trump’s bullhorn.
People should be horrified.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 18, 2019 2:18 PM |
Didn't Rubio criticize Trump a lot during the last election?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 18, 2019 2:19 PM |
He will want a woman. Nikki Haley will say no. Maybe Kellyanne Conway, Rebekah Mercer, Betsy DeVos, Elaine Chao, Cindy Hyde-Smith, or a hail Mary, Miss Lindzey or Caitlyn Jenner.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 18, 2019 2:25 PM |
Makes sense, he has lost literally every cabinet member and appointment he has made.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 18, 2019 2:27 PM |
That would be admitting he made a mistake. Plus the god botherers love him and part of that is because of pence.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 18, 2019 2:39 PM |
This rumor has been around at least since the G20 in Osaka. If he dumps Pence, he will want Ivanka.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 18, 2019 2:40 PM |
He needs to find someone who appeals to all those fat, high school educated rural women that fantasize about Trump grabbing their wretched pussies; and the men amongst them that still think that Trump gives a shit about them. Fools!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 18, 2019 2:41 PM |
Ivanka and DJT on the same ticket would violate the 12th Amendment of the Constitution. They are residents of the same state, New York.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 18, 2019 2:49 PM |
Caitlyn would not carry California for Trump. Trump polls better in SC than Lindsey.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 18, 2019 2:57 PM |
Pence keeps the religious trash voting for Trump. No way he’s getting rid of that.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 18, 2019 3:12 PM |
I was hoping Trump would pick Governor Susana Martinez as a running mate. Maybe this time, he will.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 18, 2019 3:15 PM |
Many Trump 2016 voters would stay home on election day if he moves forward on gun confiscation even if it's just rhetoric.
Others are very disappointed Ryan Paul isn't getting the traction his father originally did pushing the Libertarian Party. Trump was originally seen as the anti-governmental bureaucracy president which appealed to a wide variety of Independents and reluctant swing voters. They're disappointed he hasn't fulfilled many of his earlier promises.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 18, 2019 3:16 PM |
"Ivanka and DJT on the same ticket would violate the 12th Amendment of the Constitution. They are residents of the same state, New York."
That did not stop a non native born American from becoming president in 2008. So much for the Constitution.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 18, 2019 3:18 PM |
R10 is correct. OP made this up, there are no such "rumors".
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 18, 2019 3:21 PM |
Trump doesn't need Pence to keep the evangelicals. They are going to stay with him no matter what. He needs a VP that would motivate Republicans to come out.... I don't think Haley or Rubio would make a difference.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 18, 2019 3:22 PM |
R14, I was not the one who made this story up. Yes the drop Pence rumors have been circulating forever.
Meanwhile Trump sees the reopening of mental institutions as a way to curb mass shootings.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 18, 2019 3:23 PM |
The evangelicals are *this* close to getting abortion outlawed again, and possibly SSM as well. So of course they'll stick with Trump no matter what. This is possibly their last chance ever to impose their will on the entire country.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 18, 2019 3:35 PM |
“There goes our White Picket Fence Border Wall!”
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 18, 2019 3:42 PM |
He can't get rid of Pence because he's thisclose with Kellyanne. With one you get the other.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 18, 2019 3:59 PM |
^Can they meet in the same room without Mother chaperoning???
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 18, 2019 4:10 PM |
It's not the ladies 'Mother' should worry about unless it is La Sénatrice.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 18, 2019 8:17 PM |
There’s strong talk of him picking David Duke. I think it would further divide our country, and make matters worse. But his base will follow him no matter what, so it could work for him.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 18, 2019 8:40 PM |
Pence isn’t on any of the Trump 2020 campaign signage from what I’ve seen.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 18, 2019 8:42 PM |
So Trump wants another religious closet case for VP? Rubio is defs gay.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 18, 2019 8:51 PM |
R16 Well, he isn't wrong about that. Reopening mental institutions, and forcing people to actually get help for their mental issues would curb mass shootings, along with homelessness and other issues.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 18, 2019 9:40 PM |
[quote] R8: Ivanka and DJT on the same ticket would violate the 12th Amendment of the Constitution. They are residents of the same state, New York.
She could claim DC or Maryland residence. Dick Cheney was a Texan when he selected himself to run with Dubya, also from Texas. Dick had routes in Wyoming, so he switched his residency in a flash.
Some politicians seem to get away with just a mailbox in their “home” state. It’s antiquated.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 18, 2019 10:01 PM |
R25, but could Trump govern from within a mental institution? That’s all I could wonder when I heard him speak.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 18, 2019 10:02 PM |
R23, I said awhile back on DL that Pence's name isn't prominently displayed on any Trump 2020 literature I've seen and got really dissed. So be careful what you say due to DL trolls.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 18, 2019 10:05 PM |
Correct, R25.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 18, 2019 11:38 PM |
Trump doesn't put anyone else's name on anything.
Let alone campaign posters.
Still no links to these stories either,.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 18, 2019 11:42 PM |
R30, Discussion of dropping Pence is not yet in the media because it's nowhere near formalized. Trump has consistently thrown out ideas to his base, such as Ivanka's advocating tightening access to guns, with a disastrous response. That is, any hints at changing the 2nd Amendment would mean open rebellion among Trump's supporters and likely one of the main reasons for the downward slide in his recent approval ratings.
Again there are rumors Trump will eject Pence in 2020 but his possible replacement is an open-ended question. Guarantee you that it won't be a Trump offspring.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 19, 2019 12:25 AM |
he is not going to make it to the finish line regardless of running mate. He is going to self destruct and they are going to haul him away in a straight jacket. He is obviously insane/
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 19, 2019 12:30 AM |
The guy with serial killer eyes, Stephen Miller.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 19, 2019 12:36 AM |
R26 Dick Cheney was a prior Congressman from Wyoming before he became VP. He owned a home and substantial acreage in Jackson Hole, WY.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 19, 2019 1:19 AM |
Trump's base is not particularly fond of Ivanka. The middle aged and senior crude men may view her as sexy.
The guy that Trump's base really adores is Trump Junior. They follow him also on Twitter, and when he gets invited to campaign for Republican politicians in deep red States, he draws good crowds at selected venues.
This is not a joke. The base wants Trump Jr. to follow his dad as President. Trump Sr. clearly favors Ivanka, and shows little to no observable affection or praise for his son's, except when it is expedient for himself.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 19, 2019 1:34 AM |
Barron is getting tall and fat.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 19, 2019 1:46 AM |
Trump told reporters today Pence will be his running mate in 2020.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 19, 2019 1:53 AM |
Chris Christie.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 19, 2019 1:54 AM |
It seems likely that he will keep Pence, but Trump is a liar, and nothing he says should be taken seriously.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 19, 2019 2:36 AM |
'Meanwhile Trump sees the reopening of mental institutions as a way to curb mass shootings."
We do nuthouses, too!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 19, 2019 2:46 AM |
New Yorkers, your next mayor will be Donald Trump, Jr. Book it.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 19, 2019 3:37 AM |
[quote]There’s strong talk of him picking David Duke.
No different to Dem presidential candidates courting Bigot Sharpton.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 19, 2019 3:49 AM |
Sharpton was a blowhard 30 years ago. He’s redeemed himself and I’ve heard nothing remotely bigoted from him:in 30 years.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 19, 2019 4:20 AM |
R37, Trump is responding to Datalounge rumors.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 19, 2019 8:01 AM |
Jared Kushner would never approve Chris Christie.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 19, 2019 11:14 PM |
Lol, R44, it did kind of seem that way.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 20, 2019 3:48 AM |
A lot of politicians and their operatives and advisors check-out DL. Usually it happens when they are trying to see what gays are thinking. DL often comes up on Google when searching gays and politics.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 21, 2019 12:10 AM |
Erm, Trump's not dropping Pence. Have you seen the polls? He couldn't afford to lose the Xtians - that's all that's left of his base! Even uneducated white men are beginning to pull away from Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 21, 2019 12:20 AM |
R8, as I understand it, even if Trump & his daughter claimed NY as their state of residence, the only constitutional consequence would be that they'd forfeit NY's electoral votes. And since Trump is never going to win the state, it would be no bar to picking his daughter.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 21, 2019 1:16 AM |
Maybe ex-County Clerk Kim Davis will be asked? She is an evangelical fundamentalist, had four spouses which DJT can identify with, is fervently anti-gay rights, a female, and from Moscow Mitch's Kentucky. She also practiced nepotism.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 21, 2019 2:45 AM |
But 'Mother' will ban Pence ever being alone with her if he visted the WH.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 21, 2019 2:53 AM |
It would not be at all odd for Trump to pick absolutely anyone, no matter how poorly qualified.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 21, 2019 4:31 AM |
So Nikki Haley came out today and said she supports Pence as VP. I assume Pence's people insisted she put an end to the rumors.
