I thought the first episode was okay, I'm not in love with it but I'll give it another episode or two. Is Adam Devine's character supposed to be a closet case? I got that vibe, that would certainly make me more interested.

I liked the first episode but the tone and the delivery by the actors both read like sketch comedy than an actual dramedy to me. Which is fine, I'm just not used to watching that as much. Very interested in what happens next, especially if the younger brother is truly fucking that former Satanist guy.

The show ain’t bad

I watched a few episodes of Eastbound and Down - got a few chuckles before I lost interest. I tried Vice Principals but that did not grab me at all. I saw the preview for TRG and figured why not - I need a new comedy since Veep ended. I laughed a lot at this show and hope it stays funny.

Anyone watching? Should this be the official Righteous Gemstones thread? I thought the second episode was good. Skyler Gisondo's such a little cutie! I'm glad he'll be a part of the show. I enjoy watching these characters, but I wonder what the main thrust of the narrative's going to be.

I loved McBride's previous HBO show, "Vice Principals", co-starring Walton Goggins. It was hysterically funny yet bittersweet at the same time. I'd never seen anything else he was in. I'll probably give the new one a try.

I don’t think so. Most HBO shows are completely filmed before they ever air the season, and The Conners do like, 8 episodes a year. A sitcom episode is rehearsed in a week and shot in a day.
