The obvious place to start is that we have a chief executive who is the sort of man simultaneously loutish and buffoonish enough to say this sort of gross thing about someone else, AND be wrong about it. He seems to do this on a daily basis.

Then of course we turn to the “victim.” Is this country really chockful of people so zombified to Trump that they adore him even after he relentlessly mocks them? How empty must their lives have been pre-Trump ... that they’re now so filled up with adulation that there’s no room in their skull cavities for any rational thought?

And before we leave him, let’s not forget there were some Jewish protestors at the rally, people of enough principle and morality to be protesting Trump’s support for Israeli apartheid — NOT an easy thing for American Jews to do. And yet, this mouthbreathing hillbilly still decided it was fine to use physical violence against them to deny them their right to free speech.

Finally we get to Democrat Yang, who decides it’s totally fine to climb down into the gutter with Trump, to roll around in the rat feces with him in order to make some political points.

America is richer and more powerful than it’s ever been, right now. Is all this crude embarrassing behavior some sort of compensation for that? If so it doesn’t bode well for the human future.

Trump called it himself back in 2016 when he said he could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot someone and they would still support him.

As vile as Trump is, he was smart enough to figure out the mindset of his supporters way back in the 2016 GOP Primaries.

I'm pretty sure the audited financial statements of his child-trafficking business could be posted to a website and his approval rating would remain eternally between 40% and 45% of the American public.

I finally understood Dump and his supporters when I realized he was more a cult leader than a politician or businessman.

It's like when the high school nerd is all too happy to write the popular jock's term paper for him, because he thinks that, maybe one day, it'll lead to him getting into his inner circle. Indeed. Good summary.

There have been cults around leaders in other countries and in other times in earlier human history, but this is a first in modern American politics.

There have been charismatic Presidents (eg. Franklin Roosevelt winning 4 terms, JFK, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, etc.) but none of them had a cult like group of followers that were obsessed with them and worshiped them on this level.

Even after Dotard is gone, we're still going to have to deal with the sickness that his reign uncovered. This is a very troubled country.

The bigger problem is what he leaves behind -- he turned over a rock in America, and thousands of racists have now come out. What will that lead to in the future?
