Pure fucking joy Emanating from the stage the entire performance

by Anonymousreply 1August 13, 2019 2:48 AM

I watch this film once a year. Never gets old.

by Anonymousreply 2August 13, 2019 2:50 AM

I was tripping the first time I saw it. WOW.

by Anonymousreply 3August 13, 2019 2:51 AM

You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack😘

by Anonymousreply 4August 13, 2019 2:53 AM

It’s on quello

by Anonymousreply 5August 13, 2019 2:54 AM

I could live without Tina’s crab walk. However, this is the greatest live male performance in history!

by Anonymousreply 6August 13, 2019 3:02 AM

This big suit and the red hat he puts on during take me to the river takes on a whole new meaning in this day and age

by Anonymousreply 7August 13, 2019 3:09 AM

You can’t beat this

brian eno's greatest achievement

by Anonymousreply 9August 13, 2019 3:54 AM

Ugh - I will never get The Talking Heads. The “music” pains my ears. I don’t care if it’s smart - it sounds like crap.

by Anonymousreply 10August 13, 2019 4:00 AM

This performance is brilliance r10! Not a fan other than this specific performance

by Anonymousreply 11August 13, 2019 4:06 AM

R10 is worse than Melania

by Anonymousreply 12August 13, 2019 6:44 AM

The infectious "Cities" should have made it into the movie/onto the album. But that doesn't take away from its perfection.

Talking Heads.

Talking Heads.

The name of this band is Talking Heads.

Never say "THE Talking Heads"

Always say "Talking Heads."

by Anonymousreply 14August 13, 2019 8:41 AM

I saw the show live at Forest Hills.

Jealous?

by Anonymousreply 15August 13, 2019 8:52 AM

Of what, r15? Your liver spots? Your Sciatica?

by Anonymousreply 17August 13, 2019 2:15 PM

seeing the show

by Anonymousreply 18August 13, 2019 2:23 PM

It's too bad that their split was so acrimonious. Do they still hate each other after all of these years?

If you haven't seen it yet, watch the "Test Pattern" episode of Documentary Now which is a parody of sorts of the band and their documentary.

by Anonymousreply 19August 13, 2019 2:26 PM

Tina and David will certainly never work together again

by Anonymousreply 20August 13, 2019 4:07 PM

[quote]brian eno's greatest achievement

I love this movie, but Brian Eno had nothing to do with it.

by Anonymousreply 21August 13, 2019 4:29 PM

I saw that concert twice live! An amazing pair of nights, one of my favorite music concerts ever.

by Anonymousreply 22August 13, 2019 6:13 PM

R21, Brian Eno made the band entirely out of whole cloth. He produced nearly everything they did. When he helped them form they didn’t known the first thing about playing their instruments, they were all design majors in college.

by Anonymousreply 23August 13, 2019 11:53 PM

Suspect you're trolling, but Eno collaborated with them on three albums from 1978-80. He had nothing to do with them forming, this tour/film, or the album it was supporting (Speaking in Tongues). You might as well say he invented David Bowie.

by Anonymousreply 24August 14, 2019 12:09 AM

He had everything to do with them forming. And yes, he inventing David Bowie too.

by Anonymousreply 25August 14, 2019 2:30 AM

They’re all still healthy and relatively young(ish), it’s a shame they seem like they won’t work together again. That would be an epic reunion tour.

by Anonymousreply 26August 14, 2019 4:03 AM

They tried it and it didn’t work out.

by Anonymousreply 27August 14, 2019 1:59 PM

David Byrne continues to do all kinds of music projects that have nothing to do with Brian Eno. His podcast mixes are fun.

I like the idea of Talking Heads but I don't really care for their music. And I love the music of Brian Eno and other eclectic artists like Laurie Anderson and all of Mike Patton's bands and collaborations, but not Talking Heads.

Byrne and Weymouth both seem like pieces of work - from reading different bio's of the band.

by Anonymousreply 29August 15, 2019 5:02 AM

Yes, both difficult artistes

by Anonymousreply 30August 15, 2019 1:47 PM

I saw this at a midnight showing when I was in college. My friend and I decided to go see it on a lark. Neither of us was particularly a fan of Talking Heads. But we thought it would be a fun film to watch because of David Byrne's quirkiness. And "Burning Down the House" was all over the radio and MTV at the time. By the end of the film, I was a fan. When we walked out of the theater, it had started snowing. A light dusting coated the cars and the parking lot. Thirty-five years later, I still remember the feeling of that moment.

by Anonymousreply 31August 15, 2019 2:33 PM

A bit much.

by Anonymousreply 32August 15, 2019 2:35 PM

Away from Talking Head Tina (and Chris) have made consistently better music than David.

Talking Heads are one of my favourite bands, but solo David Byrne is boring as shit.

by Anonymousreply 33August 15, 2019 2:38 PM

I love "red MOmo"

by Anonymousreply 34August 15, 2019 2:41 PM

Doesn't Byrne have a touch of the Asp?

by Anonymousreply 35August 15, 2019 5:46 PM

Nope, just weird

by Anonymousreply 36August 15, 2019 5:52 PM

I just FF’d myself and not in a good way 😰

Here's the entire Demme film. It's very fun how song by song they added band members onstage.

I’m truly delighted

by Anonymousreply 41August 15, 2019 8:38 PM

Always bugged me that Heaven in Stop Making Sense shows only David and Tina onstage but there are backing vocals on the track and no one on stage singing them.

(Yes I know they could be off-stage, but it's still odd...)

[quote] I saw the show live at Forest Hills. Jealous?

Not really. I met the whole band and have the movie poster signed by them.

by Anonymousreply 46August 19, 2019 4:00 PM

Especially not really; I smoked a bowl with Jerry at Nell's.
