Pure fucking joy Emanating from the stage the entire performance

I watch this film once a year. Never gets old.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 13, 2019 2:50 AM |
I was tripping the first time I saw it. WOW.

You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack😘

It’s on quello

I could live without Tina’s crab walk. However, this is the greatest live male performance in history!

This big suit and the red hat he puts on during take me to the river takes on a whole new meaning in this day and age

brian eno's greatest achievement

Ugh - I will never get The Talking Heads. The “music” pains my ears. I don’t care if it’s smart - it sounds like crap.

This performance is brilliance r10! Not a fan other than this specific performance
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 13, 2019 4:06 AM |
R10 is worse than Melania
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 13, 2019 6:44 AM |
The infectious "Cities" should have made it into the movie/onto the album. But that doesn't take away from its perfection.

Talking Heads.
Talking Heads.
The name of this band is Talking Heads.
Never say "THE Talking Heads"
Always say "Talking Heads."
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 13, 2019 8:41 AM |
I saw the show live at Forest Hills.
Jealous?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 13, 2019 8:52 AM |
Of what, r15? Your liver spots? Your Sciatica?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 13, 2019 2:15 PM |
seeing the show
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 13, 2019 2:23 PM |
It's too bad that their split was so acrimonious. Do they still hate each other after all of these years?
If you haven't seen it yet, watch the "Test Pattern" episode of Documentary Now which is a parody of sorts of the band and their documentary.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 13, 2019 2:26 PM |
Tina and David will certainly never work together again

I love this movie, but Brian Eno had nothing to do with it.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 13, 2019 4:29 PM |
I saw that concert twice live! An amazing pair of nights, one of my favorite music concerts ever.

R21, Brian Eno made the band entirely out of whole cloth. He produced nearly everything they did. When he helped them form they didn’t known the first thing about playing their instruments, they were all design majors in college.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 13, 2019 11:53 PM |
Suspect you're trolling, but Eno collaborated with them on three albums from 1978-80. He had nothing to do with them forming, this tour/film, or the album it was supporting (Speaking in Tongues). You might as well say he invented David Bowie.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 14, 2019 12:09 AM |
He had everything to do with them forming. And yes, he inventing David Bowie too.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 14, 2019 2:30 AM |
They’re all still healthy and relatively young(ish), it’s a shame they seem like they won’t work together again. That would be an epic reunion tour.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 14, 2019 4:03 AM |
They tried it and it didn’t work out.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 14, 2019 1:59 PM |
David Byrne continues to do all kinds of music projects that have nothing to do with Brian Eno. His podcast mixes are fun.

I like the idea of Talking Heads but I don't really care for their music. And I love the music of Brian Eno and other eclectic artists like Laurie Anderson and all of Mike Patton's bands and collaborations, but not Talking Heads.
Byrne and Weymouth both seem like pieces of work - from reading different bio's of the band.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 15, 2019 5:02 AM |
Yes, both difficult artistes
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 15, 2019 1:47 PM |
I saw this at a midnight showing when I was in college. My friend and I decided to go see it on a lark. Neither of us was particularly a fan of Talking Heads. But we thought it would be a fun film to watch because of David Byrne's quirkiness. And "Burning Down the House" was all over the radio and MTV at the time. By the end of the film, I was a fan. When we walked out of the theater, it had started snowing. A light dusting coated the cars and the parking lot. Thirty-five years later, I still remember the feeling of that moment.

A bit much.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 15, 2019 2:35 PM |
Away from Talking Head Tina (and Chris) have made consistently better music than David.
Talking Heads are one of my favourite bands, but solo David Byrne is boring as shit.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 15, 2019 2:38 PM |
I love "red MOmo"
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 15, 2019 2:41 PM |
Doesn't Byrne have a touch of the Asp?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 15, 2019 5:46 PM |
Nope, just weird
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 15, 2019 5:52 PM |
I just FF’d myself and not in a good way 😰

The unofficial theme song for half of DL's threads:

Yep.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 15, 2019 6:38 PM |
Here's the entire Demme film. It's very fun how song by song they added band members onstage.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 15, 2019 6:39 PM |
I’m truly delighted
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 15, 2019 8:38 PM |
Always bugged me that Heaven in Stop Making Sense shows only David and Tina onstage but there are backing vocals on the track and no one on stage singing them.
(Yes I know they could be off-stage, but it's still odd...)

Showbiz
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 16, 2019 1:10 PM |
YES! The best! It never ever gets old. Brilliant!

[quote] I saw the show live at Forest Hills. Jealous?
Not really. I met the whole band and have the movie poster signed by them.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 19, 2019 4:00 PM |
Especially not really; I smoked a bowl with Jerry at Nell's.
