I was an officer in the military for 22 yrs. I am now retired and work as a civilian contractor. I never married, never had kids and never felt compelled to do so just to thwart the possibility of idle army brigade gossip. I'm not totally familiar with his situation, but I hope he is NOT using the military as his excuse for his personal choices. His life situation is of his own volition. As with most employment, I do not promote bringing personal and social familiarity into the work place. But the assumption one has to be married and have kids in order to maintain the ethos of an honorable military career , or you need to look at your options regarding fast food service is stunted to say the least. I hope this was not his thought process...… Once he left the house at 18, he should have spent his summer as a fire Island house boy , dancing on speakers and giving head to cracked out porn stars...….NOT starting a family......

We were much better protected from pissant Southern Baptist chaplains constantly engaging in their attempts to convert everyone.
