Trump Suggests He’s Likely to Commute Sentence of Rod Blagojevich

[quote]Trump said on Wednesday night that he was “strongly considering” commuting the 14-year prison sentence of Rod R. Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor who was convicted of trying to essentially sell President Obama’s vacated Senate seat for personal gain.

[quote]In remarks aboard Air Force One, Trump described the incriminating phone call in which Mr. Blagojevich, a Democrat, was taped discussing selling the seat as mostly a minor offense and something “many” politicians have done.

[quote]The move is likely to face steep blowback, since Mr. Blagojevich’s crime has long been seen as the epitome of the kind of pay-to-play that Trump has claimed he wanted to stop when he took office.

He's both acting out for attention and trying to do as much damage as possible before losing control of the White House.

Corruption loves company.

You can reject a pardon.

Can you reject a commutation?

And he has just done that. In fact the fat fucker has been on a "get out of jail free" binge the last couple of days.

Bernie Kerik now....Madoff wouldn’t surprise me at this point.

I am worried trump is doing this because he thinks he is winning re-election & has realized his idiot fan base doesn’t care what he does and will love him anyway.

by Anonymousreply 7February 18, 2020 6:22 PM

I think its because he knows shit is hitting the fan, its like his removal from office bucket list

by Anonymousreply 8February 18, 2020 6:23 PM

Well, even though Blago was a sleazeball, his 14-year sentence did seem awfully long.

by Anonymousreply 9February 18, 2020 6:26 PM

So is he trying to say if you send roger stone of Flynn to jail ill just pardon them? Why the flurry of pardons TODAY?

by Anonymousreply 10February 18, 2020 7:46 PM

NYT: Republicans had advised the president against the pardon, arguing that Mr. Blagojevich’s crime epitomizes the corruption that Mr. Trump had said he wanted to tackle as president.
