Your thoughts on Modern Family

The sets are too dark, the characters annoying and the show played out.

Datalounge hates this show because it features realistic gays. Datalounge has decided that the gays on this show are "too gay" and should behave like butch straight guys. They particularly hate the fat guy because he's both nelly and fat.

I've never watched more than 20 minutes total since it started- a minute here or two minutes there. It makes my brain shut down from boredom.

I haven't watched it in years. It was mildly amusing for a little while, nothing more or less. If they dumped Manny, Sofia Vergara and Al Bundy then it would have been more tolerable. Manny has to be one the most annoying television kids since Sam on Diff'rent Strokes.

I watched the first two seasons and thought it was a very fresh concept for that time, with some really sharp writing. But, like most of these shows, they've milked it for too long and it's become a complete joke now.

Are any of the male actors on this set straight? Maybe Benjamin Bratt who plays Manny's dad (and the only decent looking one).

It was great for a while - and groundbreaking. But it’s jumped the shark. The writing isnt as good and the actors seem over it. I’ve watched every episode 3-4 times in reruns.

R2 is right. We don't need to those two queens prancing across the screen. They reinforce the stereotypes that perpetuates hatred toward us.

It's not that those guys don't exist, but it's really almost Amos n Andy-ish in how stereotypical these particular portrayals are, and Eric Stonestreet is borderline offensive, not because of his size but because he plays that character with no depth and no nuance.

As for Jesse Jessy Raphael, he's so non-emotive as to convince me that he's on heavy doses of anti depressants.

The couples are too mean to each other IMO.

It’s hacky and lazy, and I cannot stand that firecrotch or Sofia Vergara’s shout-acting, but I have to admit, watching it is like eating oatmeal at this time. It’s nice and boring and sweet and brainless. It’s working for me right now.

Oh and I really fucking hate Dillon, the dumb sister’s boyfriend. I hate the character and I hate the actor playing him.

Loved the first seasons but stopped after maybe Season 3 or so. It was fucking hilarious in its day.

I switched to The Middle which was and continues to be an underrated gem. That was a fantastic show.
