I'm still surprised his career didn't take off more after Downton especially here in the U.S. Why couldn't his good buddy Allen Leech make a few calls for him in Hollywood, seems Allen is doing well here. At the very least he should have landed a guest appearance as the psychopath of the week on a L&O: SVU.

I've honestly never heard of this guy, so I can't comment on any apparent weight gain, but whoever is in OP's picture is sexy as hell and doesn't look fat to me at all.

In fact he has said that playing that character did more damage to his career than anything else. I hope this new role means a turnaround for him.

Dear R45 and R46. How's the PR shilling going? I work with his agency very often. His agents are having a hard time placing him. He has rarely been the first choice for anything they've sent him out for and the bulk of his film work is indie work. Personally, I think he's gorgeous and charming and hope that Blithe Spirit based on the Noel Coward play will make him a leading man.

Like Jon Hamm, Dan Stevens is a quirky character actor stuck in a gorgeous leading man's body.

Too many for reality. The premise of the show is that there is a culture divide between whites and Pakistani Muslims. Yet half the Muslims are out and proud. And it's not that big of a town. All of the observant Muslims don't seem to get mad at the families that have gay Muslims in them.

I think they should have made RJC gay (in the show he's married to a black woman). That way the very obvious teacher/student relationship could have been between RJC and Corey. Or at least between RJC and the gay Muslim boy that wants to go to drama school.

R70 I mean that's true, and no town like this exists, but... it's not a documentary. It's a soapy teen drama (with lots of quirky comedy) that is probably doing a world of good for queer Muslims in the UK and making it easier to come out to their families. Also normalising interracial dating and harmony between people of different religious backgrounds.

I agree with you on the teacher/student relationship. I am hoping Corey and the gay Muslim boy end up together in the end because I like their bond and chemistry. But it's not looking like that will happen. Sad about Missy leaving the show, the young actress did a really good job.

Rob James Collier needs another series to regain his footing. I propose a British Detective series. They are wildly popular, they stream all over the place. Brit Box, Acorn TV,AmazonPrime, Hulu, Netflix, etc. and he could get some great exposure. He needs better representation. He is too good to languish. Alan Leach has been willing to do smaller character roles like in Imitation Game and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Rob James-Collier should have begged Siobhan Finneran's agent to represent him. At the same time she was doing the sneaky, backstabbing maid on Downton Abbey, she was playing the loud, foul mouthed mother on Benidorm. Talk about showing your versatility!!

Finneran was already known for playing "earthy" vulgarians. RJC has mostly only played villains. I can't see him as a regular lead. He lacks warmth.

R78 Benidorm started in early 2007 (Siobhan Finneran was in it from the start) and Downton didn't first air until the end of 2010, so it would probably be the other way around.
