They are cursed with a crazy jawline and big teeth.

My guess is once Ethel Kennedy and Jean Kennedy Smith (the last two from JFK's generation still in the family) finally die, the next generation will decide they no longer want to vacation together, and they'll finally sell the rest of that stupid compound in Hyannisport.
It's their own fault for these stupid curse stories because they STILL insist on holding on to that property, But I can see why they want to hold on to the memorieds for Ethel, although basically she must be drooling into her diapers at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 4, 2019 1:33 AM |
They're not cursed.
There's a million of them, and so one of them is bound to die from time to time.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 4, 2019 1:36 AM |
The Kennedy's real problem is that they all carry the gene for psychopathy. And this periodically gets them into trouble. I feel more sympathy for the myriad victims of the Kennedy crime family. As for as Saoirse , she appeared to be a self pitying drug addict. Supposedly her life was ruined because a friend violated her "sexual boundaries ". Trust me, people go through far worse in life and manage to get by. And with far less resources than this pampered young woman. It's very unfortunate that she OD 'd but she had options. And frankly it might be helpful for the media and culture to stop telling young women that they can never, ever recover from a sexual assault. This is not a condoning of sex abusers but encouraging resilience if something does happen might be better than telling people that they are ruined forever.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 4, 2019 1:37 AM |
Then why does the media call it The Kennedy CURSE?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 4, 2019 1:37 AM |
They all have addictive personalities—alcohol, sex, hard drugs, thrills
Of course they are bound to die.
This happens in lots of similar families but they just happen to be a famous family

I will never understand the morbid fascination old people have with the Kennedys.

I bet the curse will take out one of Caroline's kids later on.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 4, 2019 1:48 AM |
The stupidest victim of the curse was still John-John, because he also killed his wife and his sister-in-law because of his dumb arrogance. But the next stupidest was Michael Kennedy.
He died because he and members of the Kennedy Family were playing touch football ON SKIS on Aspen Mountain, and he slid at high speed right into a tree. The ski patrol had specifically warned them all to stop doing this, but of course they would not listen.
At least he probably took off a good bit of the bark of the tree with those enormous chompers.

[quote] Supposedly her life was ruined because a friend violated her "sexual boundaries ".
I thought she (Saoirse Kennedy Hill) was using euphemisms and really saying she got sexually assaulted. JMO.
I always admired how you never saw the Kennedys crying in public or "talking out of school." Except for maybe Christopher Kennedy Lawford.
Here's an aerial view of the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port, Mass.

Their "curse" is largely their own decision making fails.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 4, 2019 2:23 AM |
I read that book written by Sinatra's butler and that Kennedy Patriarch was a world class prick and racist.
I was appalled after reading that and never looked at the Kennedys the same way again.
and JFK sounded like a complete hounddog. I lost respect for him too.
The are a SCAM and a SHAM of a family.

The Kennedy men are all hideous and creepily dead behind the eyes. And Jackie Ho was a covetous and venal woman.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 4, 2019 3:50 AM |
There are a lot of deaths and addiction issues. If you look at the JFK generation and their wives, there are numerous plane crash deaths (I can think of 5 of the top of my head) plus a slew of other tragedies.
I can't think of any other major family that has had this many issues. It's not common. If only some other political dynasties were graced with this - I'm looking at you Bushes!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 4, 2019 4:16 AM |
There was no "curse." The Kennedy just were, and are, a really fucked up group of people.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 4, 2019 4:20 AM |
I like to think that Alexander Pantages caused the curse. Joe fucked over countless people, but Pantages was someone who would ultimately get his revenge. But the reality is, they procreated like they wanted half the population to be Kennedys. Eventually someone is going to die. Plus Chappaquiddick, should not be counted since it was the family of Mary Jo that had the tragedy. And rapey Will Smith is also added to the curse. So illegalities and bad judgement are a curse some how.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 4, 2019 4:49 AM |
Honestly a fair amount of the lives that the Kennedy clan have wrecked have been outside of the family. They have been led to believe that they are American royalty and can treat others as discardable. The Kennedy's are a nasty and sordid lot.

Every family has problems and tragedies. Every family has its share of crazy. Rose and Joseph Kennedy had 9 children. There are 30 grandchildren. They are an enormous family. Life happens. Its idiotic to call it a curse just because its happening to rich people. Larger families always seem to have more going on, not because they are cursed; but because there are more people.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 4, 2019 8:44 AM |
My great grandma had 11 children, and outlived 10. Outlived some grandchildren too. Is this a tragedy? We all chalked it up to life, like normal people.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 4, 2019 9:19 AM |
Victims of their own bad decisions, believing their own hype and having too much time on their hands. They grew up with the idea that they are something special, apart from everyone else and therefore the typical rules that apply to everyone else don't apply to them. You see that characteristic in kids of celebrities, though in this case, its the entire family.
I still do hold out the hope that there is such a thing is being "cursed" so that the Trump spawn will one day be crashing into trees, crashing planes & ODing for years to come...

The Kennedy clan is the perfect example of why inheritances of family fortunes should be banished forever.
Since JFK, RFK and Teddy's generation, ,the subsequent generations have been less ambitious, less talented and less educated by virtue of being assured of a luxurious lifestyle without having to exert any time or effort. Not to mention the current generation marrying common trash park trash like Chris Pratt.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 4, 2019 4:18 PM |
How many great grandchildren are there? That Kennedy inheritance must be getting pretty thinly spread out.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 4, 2019 4:36 PM |
Two of the worst events that happened to them, the assassinations of JFK and RFK, had more to with the times than anything else. Lots of people were being assassinated (or nearly assassinated) in that era.
Most of the other tragedies that have befallen them have had to do with either their own arrogance (Rosemary's lobotomy, Joe Jr.'s death, Chappaquiddick, John-John's death, Michael's death) or their pushing their children too hard and neglecting their emotional health (Joe Jr.'s death again, David's death, Christopher's addictions, and now it sounds like Siobhan's death). I suppose the 2nd category is an other form of arrogance.
Kara's death was just a statistical anomaly, as was Joe Sr.'s stroke.

Reportedly responding to a call of a possible overdose, authorities found Saoirse unresponsive at the home on Thursday afternoon and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead following what multiple news outlets described as a suspected overdose.
Question DL Detectives: if they assumed she'd overdosed, there must have been drug paraphernalia when they found her; wouldn't the cops also being investigating where she got the drugs/who sold them to her? Obviously her family aren't being forthcoming, but this just seems like such a weird disconnect from this otherwise careful, young girl to one is found dead in her bed & they assume she OD'ed.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 6, 2019 12:10 AM |
They have to do a toxicology report first. It can take weeks to get the results back.

All of the local Boston television stations had heavy coverage of Saoirse's funeral today.
Ethel had to have a son on each side of her in order to walk. Courtney appeared devastated, Maria Shriver was by her side. No sign of Joan or Jean or Caroline. Joe Kennedy II, on crutches, has definitely hit the wall at 66.

Huh? Are you nuts? Who the hell doesn't enjoy summering on Cape Cod? If my family had the remains of a huge trust which covered expenses on 4-5 huge homes on the ocean on Cape Cod, why the hell would we get rid of them?
Only weirdos believe a house is "cursed. There are dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren of JFK's siblings. There are plenty of people among the next generations upon whom sadness, addictions, or mishaps might fall. There is no such thing as a "curse". Being from Boston, the Kennedys have always been part of our lives even more so than living in another part of the country and just knowing of the Kennedys. I understand their greatness, dedication to service, their challenges and faults.
However, after the nightmare this country has been living through under Trump, all I can say is that this country needs a charismatic Kennedy now more than ever. The curse and the tragedy is that JFK Jr., Teddy Jr., Robert Kennedy Jr. or Timothy Shriver is not president or running for president to help give the country hope for the future and end this nightmare of Trump.

Well guess again, b/c many of the remaining grandkids and great-grandkids LOVE going to H-port for the summer, and will continue to do so for a long time coming. Did you see how many under-30 Kennedys were at the funeral this past week? That's the crew that hangs out there all summer and other holidays.
RFK Jr already owns one of the compound homes, when Ethel passes another of her kids or a cousin will likely purchase it from the estate, so that the shenanigans will continue. Several of the Shrivers already own smaller homes near the compound, Ted Jr. has a place nearby and I believe a few Lawfords do as well. Caroline (JFK's daughter) is the only one who now seems to shun the Cape.
Remember when Teddy died and the big main house was put in trust to be a political retreat, so the family couldn't really personally use it anymore. The uproar from the rest of the fam could be heard all the way to kingdom come; many were pissed they wouldn't be able to stay there anymore, this situation led to the estrangement of Vickie (Ted's widow) from the rest of the clan that continue to this day. And she was only implementing his wishes.
ps: they are absolutely grooming Jack Schlossberg to be the next big deal in office. It's on, he'll be out of law school soon wait and see.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 8, 2019 1:58 AM |

The family has never recognized Vicki as a true Kennedy, especially since Ted's death in 2009. Joe openly despises her and when Ted was first diagnosed with brain cancer, Joe and Vicki clashed over his treatment. Since Ted's death. Joe feels he is the rightful head of the family. I saw no sign of Vicki at this week's Kennedy funeral.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 8, 2019 2:12 AM |
Caroline sold her parents' house to Ted jr. and no longer has any interest in the "compound".
RFK jr. and his brother Chris bought the old Tuhn house at the end of Squaw Island. It was the second summer White House.
Ethel is the only one who actually lives there. She's not well liked.
Joe and his second wife Beth moved to Cotuit quite a while ago.

Much of the "curse" is fueled by entitlement, booze and drugs.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 8, 2019 2:22 AM |
When JFK, Jr. and wife Carolyn occupied JFK's house within the compound, Ethel behaved like a total cunt, even forbidding them to walk across her lawn next door to get to the beach. She also took over the living area above his garage to house her help, without JFK, Jr.'s permission.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 8, 2019 2:23 AM |
@r47/formerBHmanny Joan also used to summer (still does?) on Squaw, since she got a house there in her divorce from Ted. Squaw is nearly adjacent to the compound (a 5 min walk) so qualifies as 'nearby'. Many of the grandkids now own or rent houses within close distance to Marchant Ave. The Kennedy/Shriver/Lawford Takeover of H-port will continue on for many more decades, they love it there.
I thought RFK Jr had the house at 11 Marchant, at the Dale intersection. Perhaps not.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 8, 2019 2:29 AM |
r50 Ethel was even worse to Jr and Carolyn at the Palm Beach house one year, they showed up to stay for a pre-scheduled weekend (they all had to 'schedule' their times there via the family trust, which allowed all the fam members to stay there), and Ethel wouldn't vacate the main suite for them even though her time was up.
Jr was nice enough about it, being as she was his elder aunt, and he moved to a smaller set of rooms on site. But when Ethel blatantly ignored Carolyn in the main house and was openly rude he snapped, and called up the estate manager to remove her.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 8, 2019 2:32 AM |
To add, was wondering about Caroline's ties to the rest of the family, being as she wasn't present at Sairose's funeral this week. Courtney and she were close growing up and I believe were bridesmaids at each other's weddings (Courtney's 1st marriage, to Jeff Ruhe anyway).
It was touching to see Maria Shriver and Sydney McKelvy standing on either side of Courtney and holding her up on her walk into church. The one missing from that scene was Caroline. They were all the same age and close when kids and young adults. Caroline has really pulled away since Teddy passed, almost as if that was her last link.
Joe III is on the outs with more than just Vickie, he's allegedly been nasty to Caroline in the past and was fairly rude to her on a few mutual visits to see a sick/dying Teddy. Lots of jealousy over family power and legacy as well as $: Caroline has a ton and Joe For Oil much less.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 8, 2019 2:38 AM |
Joan sold the house on the island years ago. Her children tried to declare her legally incompetent to stop her.
They failed. She had some kind of a deal to use the house after the sale.
She, by the way, was the nicest of the bunch.
The living quarters above the garage was home to Frank Saunders. He was Joe and then Roses' driver/henchman.
He wrote a book "Torn Lace Curtain". Fun read and it's mostly true.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 8, 2019 2:43 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 8, 2019 2:45 AM |
It's not the Kennedy Curse so much as the Kennedy Myth which the family believes more than anyone. I knew Chris Lawford who was a hell of a nice guy. He said the family treated his father like shit once his parents divorced. Chris also had no money until his Mother died then he died right after from the effects of battling Hepatitis. They are like many other rich families, they feel the rules don't apply to them. Joe senior made his money as a stock manipulator and bootlegger. His main business, Somerset Importers was jointly owned with Frank Costello who was one of Mob's true Godfathers. He was the basis for Vito Corleone in the Godfather. They even had the same raspy voice.

R28...
[quote] (Joe Jr.'s death again, David's death, Christopher's addictions, and now it sounds like Siobhan's death).
There are 2 men named Christopher in the family.
I think you are referring to the late "Christopher Lawford" when you speak of addictions.
The other is Christopher Kennedy, the eighth child of Bobby and Ethel, who lives in the expensive Chicago suburb of Kenilworth. He used to manage to huge Merchandise Mart in Chicago, which used to be owned by the Kennedy family. Still married to his first wife and has 4 children. His wife is from Illinois and the family makes there home in Illinois.
By all accounts he is a fairly good guy, low key. I think he handles the Kennedy purse strings since the death of Stephen Smith.
Years back, I used to work in the Merchandise Mart on the same floor as the main offices. I sometimes saw Christopher Kennedy in the hall. He was very, very easy to recognize because of his strong resemblance to both his parents. Built much like his father, not all that tall and the same build, from what I remember.
There were stories that JFK Jr. used to stop in and have lunch with him sometimes and I definitely saw Stephen Kennedy Smith once in the lower hallways. This was not long after the rape trial.
As for a Kennedy curse - bullshit. More creation of the media. Many of the untimely deaths in that family were due to stupidity and arrogance (Michael and JFK Jr.). Joe Jr's death was a WWII death - more of a curse than any other deceased veterans? As for the drug related deaths: David and this recent young woman - why should these drug deaths be more of a curse that the drug deaths of any other young people.
Curse, my ass.

Peter Lawford was treated like shit because he was gay, and he supplied John and Robert with young starlets. I hate that this spilled over to Chris, who obviously had no part in what his father did, but we’re talking about the Kennedys.

[quote]I knew Chris Lawford who was a hell of a nice guy. He said the family treated his father like shit once his parents divorced. Chris also had no money until his Mother died then he died right after from the effects of battling Hepatitis.
Chris outlived his mother by nearly a dozen years, he didn't pass soon after her. Plus I thought he died of heart failure from doing strenuous hot yoga on a retreat up in Canada last year. His heart was likely damaged by the years of coke abuse but still, doing that kind of activity at his age would be tough for anyone.
RFK's son Chris went to school with a relative of mine (as did his wife), he is in fact very lowkey and relatively drama-free.
Ed Schlossberg is indeed disliked by many of the clan, JFK Jr himself grew to heartily dislike him at the end and that was a major cause of estrangement for he and Caroline just before he died (mutual loathing of spouses). But Ed's nastiness alone doesn't account for Caroline's pullaway since Teddy died, Ed's always been a jerk long before then. That's on her mainly.

The Kennedy money is all mob money obtained under the most despicable of circumstances except for Caroline's which was made by her mother whoring the Kennedy name out to a billionaire Greek pirate who was a mobster and murderer himself who could give Joe Sr. a run for the money in Hitlerian hatred.
The Kennedy ugliness bursts out everywhere like a corpse filled with too much gas. The country will never recover from the disaster that was John Kennedy's presidency. We are still reeling from the consequences.

David Kennedy was a nice guy despite his drug use. Besides, his drug use may have been the by-product of being a young gay man and perhaps not fully “out” amongst the largely rough ‘n tumble, mostly hetero Kennedy clan. I used to see David quite often in Boston in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s. There was a popular gay bar called Darts located on Dartmouth Street in Boston’s Back Bay, near Copley Square. Like many of us young gays at the time, David was there often.
Dart’s was a great place when gays were coming into their own. For many of us, Darts became a frequent hangout. It was casual, upscale and a friendly place not hidden away in the shadows, but right there in the middle of one of the city’s best neighborhoods. I saw David there a lot. He was a friendly, nice guy. It was very sad when drugs took hold of his life. I believe he left Boston and ended up in Florida where he died. David was not your typical Kennedy. He was just a young gay guy from a very famous family trying to find his way in the world.

They are not cursed. A couple things are going on. Their family ethos is "drive". Old Joe drove his children to succeed some might say to their own detriment. Joe Jr. died in a dangerous WW2 mission he volunteered for because he was a Kennedy and his younger brother had just outshone him in the South Pacific. Joe egged his sons on in what would now destroy their careers (womanizing). He wanted his daughters to marry well. And finally substance abuse more or less runs in families. Robert Kennedy married Ethel Skakel and the Skakel family was even wilder than the Kennedy's in terms of substance abuse etc. These problems have completely overwhelmed Robert's family.

Joe was incredibly impressed with daughter Eunice and her abilities. He allegedly said, "If she had a set of balls, she'd be President . . ." .

True. Being the homeliest of the daughters wasn't enough. He really wished that she'd had a pairs of testis.

[[R69], So, David's romance with Rachel Ward was not a romance at all?]
R71. It may have been a romance. Plenty of gay guys have romances with women--and they're still gay. I am simply relaying a story of the somewhat although not entirely forgotten David Kennedy. He was around in Boston in the late 70s/early 80s. He was not hiding, he was not in disguise. He was a frequent patron of the gay bar Darts in Boston. He was with other gay men. I never saw him with a woman. I saw him frequently in the bar with other gay men. He didn't bother anyone. He was a low key, kind of reserved, didn't draw attention to himself.
He was simply a young gay man. However, because it wasn't written about in the press doesn't mean it didn't happen. Unfortunately, his drug use overshadowed the media attention he received. But based on what my friends and I saw with casual interaction in Darts (we were also frequent patrons of the bar), David was a gay man. But how do you compete with the big Kennedy machine when you're the "sensitive" one in the family?

One could only imagine how certain Kennedys reacted to David's homosexuality; that is if they knew it.
David's father RFK once told Gore Vidal during a dinner dance at the White House to "get your goddamn dirty hands off of her, you fruit !" or so the story goes as he couldn't stomach Gore at all. JFK on the other hand was rather tolerant and allegedly allowed his number one fan and former Choate roommate Lem Billings to take of his needs for years.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | August 9, 2019 3:52 AM |
When he was a boy, RFK Jr. was very interested in botany, flowers, etc.
His father, Bobby Kennedy, worried that this meant Bobby Jr would be gay and insisted he transfer his interest to other areas, such as animals.

I think the Kennedy's were crypto-Protestants.
Protestants are the ones with the big teeth.
Claiming to be Catholic when they are really Protestants, is why they are cursed.

by Anonymous | reply 94 | August 9, 2019 2:19 PM |
Contrary to public opinion, the Kennedy family is not idolized and adored here in Massachusetts.
At one time, yes, but I believe the turning point was Chappaquiddick, when even die hard buyers of the Camelot myth began to see them for what they really are.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | August 9, 2019 2:24 PM |
Robert Kennedy was more catholic than the Pope and therefore a very nasty Irish Catholic who by the way tell the funniest dirty jokes you've ever heard.

It was touching to see Maria Shriver and Sydney McKelvy standing on either side of Courtney and holding her up on her walk into church.
I feel very cynically about all things Kennedy due to that ridiculous attention whore RFK Jr. who's been pushing lies about vaccines for years all in the name of self-promotion & of course Maria & her brood (for reasons well documented here on DL), but the images of the girls parents - her mother stooped over & having to be led into the church & her father weeping just brought out how sad & pointless the whole thing is. Whether its a school shooting or some senseless stupidity like this, I think there's nothing more heart breaking than the sight of parents burying their child - particularly their only child.

Harry Truman, like the Roosevelts (and Eleanor was anti-Catholic), hated Joe. When Jack was running for president, Truman, referring to Kennedy's Catholicism, said it wasn't the Pope that concerned him, but the Pop.

People Magazine had a podcast last summer about Chappaquiddick called Cover-Up. I think it was 6-8 episodes and it was a good listen and it was better than the Chappaquiddick movie. After listening to it, I truly disliked the Boiler Room Girls, Joe Gargan, and Paul Markham because they changed their stories a few times and all covered up for Ted.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | August 10, 2019 2:03 AM |
It unfairly cost him the presidency? Are you nuts? He should have been jailed. His drunken driving killed a woman who might have been saved if he didn't run to mummy to say I've been a bad boy now get me out of this because we're rich and I'm far more important than a mere secretary. Meanwhile Mary Joe suffocating to death in the back seat of a car submerged in a canal.
This is disgusting murderous unforgivable behavior. Just because they dress up and go to church every Sunday morning doesn't exonerate them it indicts them.
Her body was found before he reported the accident. Plenty of time to save her if he had acted like an adult instead of a spoiled indulged teen. If any good thing came out of this it was the final stake in Joe Sr's dark ugly heart.

by Anonymous | reply 120 | April 3, 2020 6:46 PM |
Most of the time, the Kennedy curse was because of arrogance--they didn't heed simple common sense because they thought they were special. Common sense would tell you:
*If you volunteer for special dangerous missions, there's a good chance you will die
*If you insist on flying in bad weather with your wife and sister-in-law, and you are not an experienced pilot, there's a good chance you will die
*If you insist on keeping the bubbletop lowered so everyone can look at you driving through the streets of Dallas, you may get shot by a sniper
*If you try to control your wayward daughter's libido by having doctors scoop out part of her brains, she'll likely become a vegetable
*If you let your children run free with no parenting, there's a good chance some will turn to drugs

That's a sad story about the daughter and her son, but it was an extremely windy day here in MD on Thursday; why go out on choppy waters in a canoe and why weren't they - especially the kid - wearing life jackets? All to retrieve a ball? Accidents happen, but it also appears to display a lack of common sense.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | April 4, 2020 11:43 AM |
The Kennedy are woefully lacking when it comes to common sense. Despite the fact the God goes after them with a machete they continue to think nothing can happen to them. Catholics with too much money. As long as they don't cause the deaths of others it's ok.

At one point, it might have been Rose who was the evil witch behind it all; but at this point, I think we have to agree since the deaths keep happening, it has to be Ethel behind it all, since she's the only common link. She's been affiliated with the family for all the sudden deaths since the air crash death of Kathleen, the Marchioness of Hartington. The only one before that--Joe Jr.'s--was predicatbvkle due to his being on a very dangerous missions; but the others have all been pretty random.
Clearly she learned her witchery during her childhood in Chicago, and cursed everyone who stood in her way: Kathleen (was prettier and so took away the attention from her), Jack (stood in the way of her husband becoming president), Bobby (he cheated on her), Mary Jo Kopechne (she did not want Teddy becoming president to steal away RFK's legacy), her son David (embarrassed her by being caught using drugs), her nephew John-John (threatened to become president before her own sons),her son Michael (his teeth were too big, even for her), granddaughter Saiorse (walked on Ethel's favorite flower bed once), and now granddaughter Maeve (chewed with her mouth open). I also have serious suspicions about her malefic culpability in Joe, Sr.'s crippling stroke and Jackie's death of cancer.
