I would agree, the 70s. I hope this was voluntary. I went to an elite small liberal arts college in the mid-70s and faculty, administers, and coaches could get away with anything. I could see a coach forcing these guys into this.

I remember nude swimming in NY gentlemen's clubs and Ivy League gym pools in the early 80's. This could be 80s haircuts, especially the Caesar at "Seven" (2nd from front - who is "Stroke").The "tanks" would have been in the same facility as the mens pool. I don't know Harvard's set up but it must have been sexy.

I began my studies at Yale in 1975 and I was never asked/required to pose nude for a photo, so if this study was a real thing, it must have come to an end before that year. Yale went coed in 1969, so I suspect the "study", if that's what it was, ended then.
