Equifax Data Breach Settlement Eligibility
Check to see if you were impacted and if you are entitled to $125 or more!
If you spent time freezing credit, etc, you can claim $25/hr for up to 20 hours. Above 10 hours requires documentation. Need to give details on what you did, a general timeline, and how long it took.

Thanks OP. I'm affected! Should I claim hours? I didn't spend any time on it.

I say why not? Equifax can afford the extra $250 bucks (10 undocumented hrs max @ $25 per hour) and they DID leak your personal information.

I’m affected too. Claimed the $125.

Says I'm affected, but not sure how or whether I should claim anything. I'm extremely angry with Equifax right now with respect to a totally unrelated issue, however. The are the absolute WORST of the three credit reporting agencies.

Did anyone choose the three bureau credit monitoring?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 24, 2019 11:53 PM
|
I did not, mostly because I currently have my credit report locked on all three of the bureaus. It's a minor inconvenience to unlock them when I do need credit but it pays off in peace of mind the rest of the time.
The problem with the credit monitoring agencies is that by the time they register something, notify you, and you act on it, it is likely to already be too late. All you can do is try to contain the damage at that point.

So Equifax will simply raise the rates they charge the banks, and the banks will raise the rates they charge you for loans and lower the interest they pay on deposits.
Boy Equifax sure learned their lesson. That will teach them good.

If you use Credit Karma, you don't need credit monitoring because they do it for you for free.

Thanks OP. I just submitted my claim.

So you download the form and then fill it out? Or do you have to copy it? Will an electronic signature be OK?

Better pay tax on that little check, dearies. I'll be sending you a 1099 form as a reminder.

$125 is definitely worth having your identity stolen. Fucking corporations.

Thank you OP. I've resented the fees I had to pay to freeze my credit back. Even if Equifax eventually broke down and reimbursed their fee, no one else did. Just filed.

Thanks OP, I do qualify for $125.

How do you freeze your credit? What does it mean? Sorry, I’m duncy with money stuff!

What a pain in the ass. I do qualify but where am I going to come up with receipts showing me paying for freezes etc..

R17 you don’t have to. Just fill out the form.

R17 , my PDF of the Experian PIN number page (for unfreezing credit) says it's the receipt and has the amount paid on it. Transunion had separate pages for the PIN and payment receipt (I made PDFs of both).

Someone please explain what could happen to my credit from this equinox thing. I put my name in and it said I was affected. I don’t know how. I haven’t asked to see my credit rating in a few years (only look at it when I need to move) I’m elder and not great at internet. If someone can explain I’d appreciate it.

All claims will be paid.........by Dec. 2024.

I only claimed 10 hrs because I can't prove some of the time spent (phone calls, reviewing my own credit reports) but hopefully they'll simply accept my description. The breach was an enormous pain in the ass.

Says I was affected so I put in a simple online claim.

[quote]Because those payments come from a fixed pot of $31 million, if more people apply than there are full funds for, then the amount each person gets will drop as the pool of money is distributed proportionally.
[quote]Personal finance website NerdWallet estimated there would need to be no more than 248,000 approved claims out of the 147 million consumers affected — or less than one-fifth of 1 per cent - for approved applicants to get the full $125.
