Problem is - how to do it and not get people all riled up?
Putin's term expires soon, but he's not going anywhere

US should be funding unrest in Russia. Giving money and support to anti-Putin groups

R1 The United States should allow abortions if there is a lack of brain in the fetus. Otherwise, morons like you will be born more and more ..Why wasn't your mother allowed to get rid of you?

He can’t retire and give up power - even if he wanted to - as there is no one that he can trust enough to ensure he won’t end up being killed, arrested, or put on trial.
He’s been involved in so much corruption, embezzlement and murder, that his many rivals would certainly take the opportunity to get rid of him if they ever got the chance. What he needs to do is find someone like himself, who he can safely hand the reins of power over and will protect him ( just like he did for Yeltsin ).
Putin is in the ultimate no win situation which is all of his own making.

Yes, R1. Because that has always worked out so well for us.

R5 it worked out just fine for us. It's the countries we messed with that collapsed. And a lot of those countries didn't deserve it. Especially in Central and South America where they were doing things we may not have liked, but that only affected them and their own people.
Russia deserves it. They try to export their deplorable habits everywhere.

Putin’s biggest fear is that the Russian people will eventually rise up and Gaddafi his ass.
He knows no outside country or force is going to attack nuclear armed Russia.
Any real threat to him will come from his own people.

Exactly R8 but all media is state controlled and people who speak out and jailed and killed. They should be given financial support. Much cheaper than posturing with naval ships like we already do every day.

Uh, what?

R10 Many of those countries, not all, but many had stable governments before the US meddled. The US meddled for a combination of business interests and pathological hatred of communism. And it destablized these countries and ended up shooting us in the foot because their refugees come here now.
Russia would actually do less damage to the world destabilized that with a government actively working to spread chaos across the globe.
