I actually know Oliver who is indeed certifiably crazy. He is also the luckiest man I've ever met in that usually people who suffer from his kind of borderline personality disorders end up in institutions. Oliver was never liberal. He is reactive. Ie: he only reacts against things, and usually that either means authority figures or the cultural zeitgeist. So in the 80s, when Reaganism was in full swing, and his father was part of that republican cheerleading squad, Oliver raged against them. When liberals got power, Oliver raged against them. Now that most people he knows hate Russia and Putin, Oliver supports Putin. He'll change again, depending on what the weather is.

Well, the left has become very crazy, too, what with pushing the Trans Lobby agenda and all it entails and other fringe issues. That's why I became an Independent this year. It is possible to still be on the left and like Russia. As we have seen over the last few years there has been a divergence on Russia. The Democratic left in this country now hates Russia, but the Labour Left, led by Jeremy Corbyn, in the UK are still enthralled by them.

When are people going to understand that this is what Putin's aim is? All he wants is disorder and disunity in the west. He wants to play every group off of each other. He not only wants the left and right to be against each other, inside of countries, he wants the left or the right of one country to not agree with the left or right of another country, especially among allies like the US and UK.

r34 it's really not that simple. Putin also has a stated goal of restoring the Soviet Union, meaning former Soviet states that are now "independent" countries. Yes, he's in it for himself too, but he sees himself as the restorer of Russia's "rightful" place as a superpower.
