I'm a huge Paul Lynde fan and just saw this hilarious thing. The look on his face is priceless, underneath the "I Confess" headline lol...no, he's not confessing what you think he's confessing. (even though everyone in Hollywood knew he was gay, he couldn't openly come out during the 1970's era.) Probably whoever did the interview also knew the truth and they all had a good laugh behind the scenes lol....
I loved Paul, he was a huge celeb in the 70s. Wasn't he on Hollywood Squares?

Paul Lynde always seemed mean to me. Like Don Rickles, who seemed mean as well.

In the A&E Biography episode about him many people said he was a mean drunk.

Lynde was mean, it's well-known, he was a mean drunk. Alcoholism made him a bully and cut people to shreds with his tongue. I don't think he necessarily would've been so mean without the drinking though, it's just the effect it happened to have on him. Brilliant comedic actor, whatever the case.

He loves the feel of leather and animals turn him on. Oh my!

A few things, Lynde didn't write any of his Hollywood Squares jokes, and he was the nastiest person in Hollywood, the meanest drunk in existence. No one has a kind word to say about him who knew him.

I love the third page of OP's link:
"A pregnant Patty Duke gloats:
'This Time I'm Married... Lucy Has to Respect Me Now.'"

He was gay? Well I certainly would've allowed that on my show if I knew

I have an uncle who is almost exactly like him. He hasn't come out yet either.

I think Lynde was able to control himself around certain people though, if not many. Like I'm sure he never went off on Elizabeth Montgomery, but Dick Sargent says Paul was cruel to him. He says Agnes Moorehead was nasty to him too, she wasn't the warmest person either. Elizabeth said she and Agnes were friendly but never very close.

My understanding was everyone got along with Elizabeth Montgomery--she was a very smart, very funny, and very generous woman. She was hugely pro-gay before it was fashionable to be so, which is one reason why so many members of the "Bewitched" cast were gay.
She adored Dick Sargent (one of her very best friends), and would have protected him had she known Paul Lynde was being mean to him. Lynde was infamously extremely unpleasant to people, and even once got in huge trouble when he got drunk at a Golden Globes show and started going off on everyone.
Agnes Moorhead was a strange woman--very few people got close to her (Debbie Reynolds was one of the only few who did, and the rumors are that they had a sexual relationship). She was a tremendously gifted actress, and everyone in Hollywood knew it. She was very religious and tried to convert one of the twins who played Tabitha.
