I can believe she's dead but it does make me realize how quickly time passes.

Not to be a cunt but didn't Yvonne de Carlo originate that role?

She's still talking to Saint Peter about how it should have been her, and not Bea Arthur, as Dorothy.

I never understood why she was a big deal.

You’re not dead Elaine. It only seems like it because you’ve been playing gigs in the rust belt all this time.

No one outside NYC knows who she is or was. Nor cares.

Legend. Miss her

Great actress. I have only ever seen a film of one of her concerts and would have loved to have actually seen her performance live. Still we have some great screen performances in films like September, Providence, Small Time Crooks and something with Danny DeVito of which the title escapes me. But best of all was Who Killed Teddy Bear? with Sal Mineo at peak hotness in which Ms Stritch played a lez.

I saw her on stage at the Paper Mill Playhouse in The Full Monty, where she played the pianist. (I think she was about 80 years old at the time.)
She was pleasant enough, and the audience loved her.
