Deplorables give a shit about Israel for some reason I've never fully understood. Maybe it's the whole rapture thing? But there's this crazy deplorable thing where they're antisemitic as hell and will say both that Soros and other globalist elite Jews in the DNC are controlling the world and running pedo rings, but at the same time be constantly railing on about Democrats hating Israel because they're the "REAL antisemites."

I don't get it, but Graham is pandering to that exact type of person with this statement. He's disgusting. Probably trying to distract from the immigration center visit, too.

Oh I'm worried too, no question. The whole political situation has been simmering for years at this point, and if the past is any indication, something particularly awful is going to happen when it finally boils over.

They're trying to use the same playbook they did with HRC - to create a terrifying boogeyman that they can use to rally their mobs and raise money.

The problem is that they are not true believers, merely cynical manipulators of angry, ignorant people. So, only a very small portion of them, if any, realize that their words and actions will have different consequences with these women than with HRC.

In the end, as hated as HRC was, she was still a white woman, married to a white man, a white man who, let's face it, they secretly envy for his sexual conquests. Whereas, the anger they're trying to use to their advantage will likely results in a much more violent response against these woman than it ever would have against HRC.

Lindsay Graham?

Another theory OP/R1-- they are appealing to elderly Jews in Florida who have been told pretty much since birth that "we need the state of Israel because during the Holocaust no country would take the Jews in when they were trying to flee Europe (which is true, sadly) and so you need to support Israel no matter what."

If enough of those seniors (who are all reliable voters) can be convinced that Team AOC will force the Democrats to abandon Israel, then they will vote for Trump and swing Florida.

Seems like it, OP. These four Congresswomen have been receiving death threats since stepping into office, and the labeling of them by the Rethugs as un-American and the "other" is purposefully meant to further anger their base into action.

Deplorables are anti semitic. They support the state of Israel as it is a necessary component in order for the second coming of their god (per their religious texts). But they hate Jews. Make no mistake about that. The deplorables in Charlotte were chanting "The Jews will not replace us".

Killed, no. Republicans in swing districts to vote red, yes. The 2016 midterm saw suburban areas that typically voted Republican vote for the moderate Democrat. The strategy is to paint the presidential candidate as left as "the squad" to turn these districts back. Biden is the their biggest fear because he can't be painted withthe same broad brush.

Just 20 years ago, the GOP hated Israel.

I don't think "they" have any particular strategy. Trump has decided that the way to win 2020 is to attack these women. The GOP has fallen into line behind him out of fear that if they don't, he will trample them.

One thing I keep thinking, in terms of a final confrontation when all of these aggression, hatred and thwarting of democratic principles boils over, is that WE, THE PEOPLE, can be disrupters too. If Trump and the GOP are not going to respect the rule of law, WE can be disruptive too. The majority does not have to abide by minority rule. We can act in historic ways too.

Exactly. The second coming of Christ requires that the Jewish state, with a Jerusalem temple, be restored first. And they don’t care about Jews or Israel, eying that. .

Katy Tur has spoken about how threatening if felt covering Trump’s Rallies. I heard that the news team who work his rallies have an agreement with each other, that if one feels personally threatened, the entire team will all immediately pack up and leave.

R22 - there is no doubt (and actually wasn't much doubt from the time of the Watergate break-in) that Nixon was a crook. However, the political lesson I learned in that election was that my beliefs (and McGovern's) weren't what the majority of the country believed. And, unfortunately, when one's beliefs/position are too far left (and I hope too far right) the person typically becomes unelectable.

I admire (and generally agree) with the views of AOC and the squad. I just think they are approaching things the wrong way. I understand their passion for their views and their desire to get change going NOW. Unfortunately, in the political world it doesn't always work that way.
