What annoys me about PrEP usage going up with gay men, is not so much about taking PrEP, but the reasons why a huge percentage of gay men are taking PrEP. If I take truvada and don’t get infected with HIV, there are no viruses to develop a mutation to the medication i am taking. Admittedly, if someone takes a Truvada inappropriately, gets infected, and then takes it sporadically again, resistance mutations may occur. That is one reason why we should make PrEP more accessible and make sure those on it get the recommended tests.
