A photographer's request...

A photographer well-known in the metro area came into my gym today to ask me to pose nude for him. Immediately, I thought he was one of those guys who pay to enjoy a private show from bodybuilders. I've asked questions to some other bodybuilders I have competed with. It's on the up and up, it turns out. I'm shocked he sought me out. Surprising even myself, I am considering it.

He wants me to keep all of my body hair, which I do anyway. He didn't ask to see my naked body right away, which he could have in the locker room. He'll supply all of the clothes (which I assume I'll be removing.) I can sign a release preventing him from using the photos without my permission.

Would you do it? Have you done it? What were the repercussions if you did?

by Anonymousreply 30February 18, 2020 10:23 AM

I would say be wary but follow you heart and your instincts

by Anonymousreply 1July 14, 2019 12:57 AM

But there could be repercussions but only if you let then affect you this society has to stop shaming beings who shoot nude there is nothing wrong with that but If you are uncomfortable i would day to turn down the offer listen to your heart and listen to yourself and protect yourself this does sound sketchy

Period, R2.

by Anonymousreply 3July 14, 2019 1:03 AM

Do it! You'll want those pics 20 years from now when you're fat or grey or whatever. As for repercussions, we now live in an age where there are nude lesbo shots of the first lady from 20 years ago. So, really, do you want pictures out there of when you were young and beautiful? Of course you do!

by Anonymousreply 4July 14, 2019 1:04 AM

I once posed nude for a famous photographer. It was humiliating! He never looked up from his plate and they made me leave the restaurant!

by Anonymousreply 5July 14, 2019 1:10 AM

Sure, Jan.

by Anonymousreply 6July 14, 2019 1:10 AM

I’d probably say okay but I’d have a lawyer look over release first. R4 is correct. It will be fun to show the pictures in 20 years. I would make them tasteful nudes with no dick or butthole shots? What exactly does he plan on doing with these pics anyway?

by Anonymousreply 7July 14, 2019 1:10 AM

its rare for a photographer to give up or share control of how a picture is used to the subject of the photo. Follow your hear yes, but show the agreement to a lawyer and see if you need to make any adjustments.

Are you doing this for free? Why not ask for remuneration? What is in it for you?

by Anonymousreply 8July 14, 2019 1:13 AM

[quote]What is in it for you?

He gets to be #MeToo'd during the shoot; that's what's in it for him, Rose.

by Anonymousreply 9July 14, 2019 1:26 AM

Like the posters above me suggested, I would have the contract looked at by a lawyer. It would be awesome to show people 40 years from now what you looked like "way back when" before parts of your body shifts southward -- and they will.

I would jump at the opportunity. You should be flattered someone recommended you. There are plenty of professional photographers out there who do legitimate nude work. If he's already well known in your area, that's a plus.

Enjoy it! If you get a hard-on during the shoot, so be it. You may like some pictures so much you'll grant the photographer permission to use them.

by Anonymousreply 10July 14, 2019 2:19 AM

OP I have a better idea: You've already gotten the ego boost or whatever from this photographer asking to shoot you nude. But that is ALL you will get from him.

Why not hire a professional photographer to shoot you nude. That way you memorialized your hot self for all time and you control everything about it. If you choose to monetize the photos, that's all your profit.

Don't give up control and profits just becaue your ego was stroked. Create your own photo series and do what you want with it

[quote] It's on the up and up, it turns out.

Meaning what? His nude male photos go in a fancy book that's sold in a gay porn shop?

by Anonymousreply 12July 14, 2019 3:13 PM

We can't properly advise you until you post nude photos of said muscular/hairy body. For a really accurate assessment, we need dick/hole pics, too.

by Anonymousreply 13July 14, 2019 3:20 PM

This never happened

by Anonymousreply 14July 14, 2019 3:27 PM

Trolling the gym for a subject? NO.

by Anonymousreply 15July 14, 2019 3:30 PM

What are the photographer's credentials? Is he liscensed and bonded? Does he have a legitimate studio? Does he have a portfolio of his prior work? Who has he contracted with prior? Does he have prominent references? Does he have a website to check out? Will he provide names and contact information of satisfied clients?

by Anonymousreply 16July 14, 2019 3:44 PM

Why not just go down and have the nudes done at the Sears Portrait Studio in the mall? You can even have them made into Xmas cards!

Did the photographer ask you if he could call you "Joel" during the shoot?

by Anonymousreply 18July 14, 2019 3:46 PM

Licensed and bonded photographer? Is that true?

by Anonymousreply 19July 14, 2019 3:49 PM

Don't be surprised when the photographer is wearing a caftan when you arrive for the shoot.

by Anonymousreply 20July 14, 2019 3:54 PM

Beware if he offers you any alcohol or "lite drugs" before the shoot to "relax" you. Even one glass of wine can bring a flush to your face. I'm a photographer and just last month shot a trio of cute young (female) models. Not nude, but there wore skin revealing tank tops. They showed up with an open bottle of champagne. I was a little upset, but did it anyway. I later had to color correct the slight reddish blush off their faces, necks, shoulders and chest plates on almost every damn shot. Believe it or not, the camera sees everything and no legit photographer would offer you any drugs before a shoot.

Unless its Tom Bianchi...

Black and White hides a multitude of sins.

Take a Viagra before you go.

But, for the people for whom such behavior matters, it really matters a lot.

For many jobs, it still matters a lot. Not only will you not be hired, you may never know the reason. Or take being a teacher. Nude pix will matter a lot to schools and parents. Whereas in other jobs or situations, it won't matter much at all.

Do it or don't. Just be very clear in your mind what impact it could have and ask yourself if you are willing to accept it. Is there a (reasonable) situation that could arise where doing the pix would result in a negative outcome. Would you be willing to say "oh well" and move on or will you regret it. THAT is the essence of regret, knowing doing something that ends in a bad situation and not being able to forgive yourself for the decision.

Luis Rafael, Paul Freeman, Mark Henderson, Rick Day, Mark Jenkins, Jim French, John Falocco, John Coletti, Greg Weiner (and all the other Playgirl photographers).

Need I say more?

If it feels legit, OP, go for it. No one can deny you have a body. We already know what it looks like, the variations are the most interesting component. I would feel honored if an established photographer asked me to pose for him.

by Anonymousreply 26July 15, 2019 1:15 AM

R26 You forgot me, capsigrany!

by Anonymousreply 27July 15, 2019 1:20 AM

If it’s one of the photographers listed in R26, I would jump at the chance. It would immortalize you they way you are now. Some of those photographers seek out hairy bodies, so follow his instructions. I think the photo shoot would make me horny as hell.

by Anonymousreply 28February 18, 2020 8:51 AM

My crystal ball just predicted your future, OP.

Fitness photographer, 45, is GUILTY of using his job 'as front' to lure men to home then drug and rape them 'to get a kick out of robbing their masculinity'

There's nothing wrong with nude pics. I still have some shoots from my nude photosessions on Google Drive)

And, yes, just be careful. One photographer offered me a drink and tried to kiss me. It's nothing criminal as well, but I left immediately afterwards:)
