Maybe he looks too old. They wanted someone passible for a teenager. Joe Jonas is in his late 20s so it would be another Tobey McGuire situation. Tom is a very good actor, that has been the best live-action Spiderman we've ever had, though I love Toby's trilogy.

McGuire fucked himself over by being too cocky. Sam Raimi refused to let the punk strong-arm him so he rather scrapped future movies with him and let Sony reboot the series to keep their hands on the Spiderman name.

Well a trilogy was enough. They covered the hot topics in those films. Most movies don't go beyond three segments.

Producers are trying to get actors who are closer in age to the written character. Witness what's happening with Dear Evan Hansen. That seems to be working out well.

While i agree with you, the third Spiderman movie had too much going on. It would've worked better if they'd done a 4th movie as originally planned.

Yeah, it's due to age and being an established star to American and Asian markets, plus he looks spicey white. Tom was unknown and kills it in the roll! Joe was still putting out articles about being somewhat jealous of his younger brother's success and basically doing nothing but waiting for a J-Bros reunion tour. He is not the type of guy that screams fresh. His younger brother was very popular by the time of reboot would have made it even more noticeable how old Joe is. People would have asked why they didn't go for younger and more popular Nick. So he had a lot of headwinds against him, so I'm sure his application was quickly tossed into the trash by producers. But they might have made a second consideration on Nick.

This is DL, so maybe Tom gave better head then Nick.
