Cocaine

by Anonymousreply 2June 29, 2019 7:50 PM

He lived in my friend's building on 73rd just east of Broadway. Super nice guy. And handsome.

by Anonymousreply 3June 29, 2019 7:50 PM

He and Kyle Chandler should battle it out for best tv DILF

by Anonymousreply 4June 29, 2019 7:51 PM

Because the movie business is so shitty, OP.

If Treat Williams had been part of the studio system in the 1940's, he would likely have been a huge star.

And then, there is the matter of his name. "Treat" does not help matters. It's just odd and it muddies the image one creates to being a star.

by Anonymousreply 5June 29, 2019 7:55 PM

R5 I always thought his named helped him. If his name was Paul Williams I’m not sure I would have such a strong opinion about him or remember his roles.

by Anonymousreply 6June 29, 2019 7:57 PM

From 1995

He was so good in Hair...and so beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 8June 29, 2019 9:20 PM

I thought it was fairly well known that his drug addiction derailed his promising career

by Anonymousreply 9June 29, 2019 9:22 PM

He is a huge star. Better than Brando in Streetcar. OP is probably Josh Hartnett.

by Anonymousreply 10June 30, 2019 12:47 AM

Cocaine -- as pointed out above, and everywhere else, he had a cocaine habit that basically meant he almost snorted up all of NYC.

What a waste of a life.

by Anonymousreply 11June 30, 2019 12:54 AM

His Wiki is totally sanitized.

His IMDB filmography shows a wee glimmer of hope.

He didn’t have the right face for movies. He’s better as a character actor on TV.

by Anonymousreply 13June 30, 2019 1:11 AM

I met him in Shubert Alley at that party for ACL when it became the longest running show. He was breathtaking. Everyone was just staring at him agape.

by Anonymousreply 14June 30, 2019 1:17 AM

We he came to my partiesh we hid the good stuff and sherved him baking shoda. He wash sho outta it he didn’t know the differenshe!

Is that Mrs. Garrett underneath Treat's foot at r1?

by Anonymousreply 16June 30, 2019 1:25 AM

Treat Williams is 67. He still has glimmers of his youthful beauty.

I saw HAIR with my parents in `1979 when I was 13. I LOVED the movie. I thought my head was going to explode at the beginning of Black boy/ White boys when the John Savage and some extras were standing there naked in front of the draft board.

by Anonymousreply 19June 30, 2019 2:14 AM

R19 - here's a flashback for you . . .

I've wondered about this myself....He was gorgeous, talented....

I am so naive about these matters. How can people do THAT much coke? mountains of it? The Stones, Elton John, whoever....Aside from burning out your nose, doesn't it scramble your brain eventually? DL laughs at Liza, but she can STILL sing all those songs, with all those verses...I barely touched the stuff and I can't remember anything. Maybe I should have done more....

by Anonymousreply 21June 30, 2019 2:31 AM

R19 My head exploded when Treat took a piss by the bandshell while talking to John Savage.

by Anonymousreply 22June 30, 2019 2:54 AM

r13, are you blind?

by Anonymousreply 23June 30, 2019 3:07 AM

His drug reputation must have been really well known. His IMdb goes from Prince of the City a highly acclaimed movie and then one other film and then two years after Prince he was doing TV which was a big step down back then.

by Anonymousreply 24June 30, 2019 3:35 AM

tell us more about that party r14!

Did you meet Liza? M?

How'd you get in?

(I just read a book describing the party)

by Anonymousreply 25June 30, 2019 3:36 AM

He starred in a movie called "Prince of the City" that was supposed to have made him a star but didn't. I think he didn't become a big star probably due to not great roles that would have showcased his strengths. I can see how he might appeal to others but I didn't think he was very hot; he had a great body but I never did think he was handsome. Good actor, though.

by Anonymousreply 26June 30, 2019 3:59 AM

That stupid first name didn't help.

by Anonymousreply 27June 30, 2019 4:07 AM

His first name is Richard. Richard Williams isn't very memorable.

by Anonymousreply 28June 30, 2019 4:08 AM

He was always a Treat to me!

by Anonymousreply 29June 30, 2019 5:42 AM

So dreamy

by Anonymousreply 30June 30, 2019 5:44 AM

[quote]If Treat Williams had been part of the studio system in the 1940's, he would likely have been a huge star.

Even at MGM an actor might turn into Clark Gable....or Johnny Mack Brown (who was almost Clark Gable before Clark Gable, but then he wasn't).

by Anonymousreply 31June 30, 2019 5:59 AM

Treat Williams sounds like a 1950s singing cowboy name to me.

by Anonymousreply 32June 30, 2019 6:02 AM

His body was sexy but his jaw weak and lips monkey-like.

by Anonymousreply 33June 30, 2019 6:02 AM

Please, he was mucho hot back in his day.

by Anonymousreply 34June 30, 2019 6:09 AM

He was handsome and had a nice body, a decent actor but not a great actor and not a lot of range.

He's still had a good career, though. He's worked steadily over the past 30 years. Everwood is a show that fraus love.

by Anonymousreply 35June 30, 2019 7:04 AM

He's very similar to Alan Bates. Sexy but not classically handsome.

by Anonymousreply 36June 30, 2019 9:27 AM

I always found him (and his career) similar to Harry Hamlin.

by Anonymousreply 37June 30, 2019 4:37 PM

He's not a great actor. He's appealing looking on film and TV and has a warm voice.

But I've seen him do theatre twice in NYC and he was underwhelming onstage. Really lacking in presence and authority.

Listen, he's lucky he's still making a living acting. A lot of attractive young men he came up with have left the business.

by Anonymousreply 38June 30, 2019 4:42 PM

He played Stanley Kowalski opposite Ann Margret as Blanche in a tv version of "A Streetcar Named Desire." They were both very good. He in particular seemed very right for the role; his face and body really did have a primitive, ape-like quality.

by Anonymousreply 39June 30, 2019 11:00 PM

As HAIR and THE RITZ made abundantly clear, the man had GREAT pits!

by Anonymousreply 40June 30, 2019 11:11 PM

Tommy Lee Jones stole his career when he dropped the ball and was laid up doing blow.

by Anonymousreply 41June 30, 2019 11:12 PM
