She's an accountant and he's in finance and in NYC that means a minimum combined income of 200K. The average rent of 30% is $5,000/month.

The article doesn't say these people are cheapasses, but they are.

They look overweight, unfit, and prematurely aged. That's what big cities can do to you if you don't have money. Maybe they should have selected the building with the pool.
