Everything I've had the misfortune to see him in (G&S, History Boys, Teachers) he just plays the same character, which he appears to have adopted as his online persona. Or maybe he is like that.

If you're not in the UK count your blessings you were never subjected to his fucking awful sketch show with Matthew Horne. I had hoped that would have killed his career but sadly not. The 'punchline' to most sketches was James lifting his shirt to show his tummy. I hear it's not the only shirt he's ever lifted either, but frankly the straights can have him.
