Geez. The autocorrect turned Phylicia into Phyllis.

I watched a little of it years ago and found it dull. I was disappointed as I had heard that it was based on the BBC's 'One Foot in the Grave' but Cosby was hamming it up instead of playing the lead character as a slightly bitter and trouble-prone old grouch as in the original.

There was one reason, and one reason only, to watch that show.

Madeline saves a drippy, draggy scene...

Love Madeline Kahn! She was defenitely the best part of the show.

Phyllis Rashad was no Rhoda Rashad.

I love to watch old Cosby shows. Such comfort food. He was the BEST!! WHET?

Telma Hopkins was originally cast as the wife - Cosby took an instant dislike to her, fired her on the spot. Then called Phylicia to ask her to take the part.

R10, Phylicia was the better choice anyways.

There was a huge buildup towards the premiere, and it got excellent ratings (it might have even been number 1 for the week). But people expected another Cliff and Clair Huxtable dynamic and it just wasn't that kind of show.

Audra McDonald was also originally cast to play the daughter, but was let go too.

R13, That’s a shame Audra was let go. It was probably for the best though.
