Bryton is a very good actor but Devon is such quiet character. He always needed scene partners like Dru, Neil, Lily, Hillary, Mariah to juice him up.

Brytni is also a very quiet actor so putting Elena with Devon just falls flat to me. nuNate has spark & is engaging. They should have Elena finish up getting her residency at the hospital. This would have her intersecting with Nate. I think they would complement each other.

Abby is the kiss of death due to MO. They should pair her with Devon. MO desperately needs to be recast. The animation of Abby could spark something with Devon even if they insist on keeping MO. Gina should have been Victoria. Heinle should have dropped like an atom bomb. The only thing that saved Heinle was she DID have chemistry with Billy Miller.

Sandra's courtroom scenes over the custody of Daniel were marvelous. I also preferred her interaction with Sasha Green (Tina Arning).

Exactly, r558. Nelson had to carry a lot of the dramatic stuff. I remember feeling for Phyllis because of the custody issue. Nelson was excellent in those scenes. I don't think she really got the credit she deserved considering she stepped into the role at a critical point in the story and she was taking over the role from a fan favourite.

At least Gina had the benefit of Phyllis being off the canvas for awhile.

I recall in one of the now defunct magazines Sandra being written up as Star of the Week; she said that Bell had called her to compliment her after one of her performances and to say she was on the right track and to stay there. She said she didn't know how rare that was.

Bell stepped down in 1998 as head writer; by the time Stafford came back in 2000, he was less active in the show.
