Bolton is a guilty pleasure for me. He has sung a lot of sappy songs. But his voice is great and sometimes her knocks it home (when the song is not too sappy or bombastic.) Given all the duets Streisand has done over the years, I'm surprised she never did one with him. He is one of the few with a popular voice big enough to match hers. She usually modulates to the person she is singing with. She could let it fly with him. Of course they would have to pick the right song!

by Anonymous | reply 143 | June 4, 2019 1:17 AM |
R30, those aren't the lyrics. The lyrics at the end are:
I ask for nothing, I can get by.
But I know so many less lucky than I.
Please help my people, the poor and downtrod.
I thought we all were the children of God.
God help the outcast children of God.
From that same movie, I don't know if I would call these my favorites but I love the juxtaposition of songs later in that movie, where Quasimodo sings plaintively about how he would never know the glow of "Heaven's Light," then a verse of the priests/monks in the church singing, seguing seamlessly into Frollo's "Hellfire."
Another that I'm not sure I'd call my favorite but is both memorable and notable for how it begins the movie and sets everything up for what follows is "The Circle of Life" from "The Lion King."

It's not the word that's the problem, it's the racist-ass accent they sing in.
I wonder if they'll take "Song of the Roustabouts" out of Dumbo. I'm sorry, but a song sung by faceless black men about being happy to "slave away" which also contains the line "Grab that rope, you hairy ape" has no business being in a children's movie.

No mention of Donna Murphy's "Mother Knows Best" and its reprise from "Tangled"? It's a fun song which will get stuck in your head, not a bad thing at all. Murphy just nails it. I actually prefer it over the other villain songs.

The Siamese Cat song doesn't even make fun of Siamese people. It doesn't even make fun of Siamese cats.
Anyway, Julie Andrews' "Feed The Birds" chokes me up every time.

I’m partial to this charming song!

I still can't believe that wasn't the film's Oscar-nominated song. It was even Walt's favorite. Instead, "Chim Chim Cher-ee" got the nod and the win.

Someone check on R171/172/173/175. I think she's having a stroke.

Celine and Peabo sang this damn song, but Jessica Sanchez and Matt Boyd did a beautiful version too. Legend and Ariana, not so much.

LOL, R176 —that’s me posted the song so many times! It was never showing up as posted, so I kept reposting! Cannot figure out how or why this happened, only thing I can think of if maybe I blocked myself?! Anyhow, sorry to be pest, folks, and thanks again for the huge laugh, R176!

Can't believe I've never seen Hunchback, the songs posted here are wonderful.
r18, that is a fantastic villain song.
r119, whilst I agree the song is great, I immediately thought of 'Part of your World' from The Little Mermaid. Obviously the themes of the songs are the same but that middle section sounds very similar.

R179 you should definitely watch HUNCHBACK. Highly underrated! Gorgeous animation, too!

Hunchback is definitely worth seeing. A couple of knockout numbers, and I love that shot that starts as a Quasimodo close-up and then just flies back for the wide shot.

Hunchback is essential Disney. It's underrated, but I've noticed people are starting to realize how great it is. Here's "Sanctuary" by Alan Menken. Not a song, but a part of the score, and probably one of the finest pieces the man has ever written. I love his scores, but this is the only score that allowed him to get dark and lush. The rest of his scores have a lighter feel, but there's so much substance to this one.

The soundtrack of Hunchback is great, but the ending isn’t. It reinforces that the natural order is for the good looking guy to get the girl and the ugly guy gets, at best, pity.

R183 it's the truth!

R185 but he was the first Disney leading man with facial hair!

Check out this cute nerd. He likes "I'll Make A Man Out of You" and "Zero to Hero". Hercules is his favorite Disney movie.

Nice one R182.

I can't believe DL isn't showing love for the sassy, black muses from 'Hercules'. Here's Disney's most fabulous introduction ever: 'The Gospel Truth'

'The Gospel Truth II' ... should've been longer.

Love the Gospel Truths. The narrator's, "You go girls," is wonderful. You'll see though that the Hercules soundtrack has been getting tons of love. "Zero to Hero" has been posted a couple times, and someone shouted out "I Won't Say I'm In Love" as well.
I love "Friends on the Other Side". Keith David's voice is exceptional.

R178 Never seen the movie, by parents had this single in their collection.
Louis covered everything in the late 60s.

R192, the narrator was none other than Moses himself, Charlton Heston.

"On Mount Olympus life was neat. And smooth as sweet vermouth. Although, honey, it may seem imposs'ble. That's the gospel truth!"
