I mean, go somewhere where you have to stay inside if you want it to stay secret.

This explains why there were reports that Kit was summoned to see the HBO execs a day or two before the finale aired. They were probably wishing him luck and telling him to keep his mouth shut about it for as long as possible so as not to get the stank all over GOT before the finale, and in the immediate aftermath.

But it IS a wellness retreat. Selena Gomez went there and spoke very highly of it. Patients get a lot for their money, look at the list of treatments. I don't doubt that he needed help with his sobriety, but I also believe the exhaustion and depression part. It all works together. His schedule was pretty full since filming wrapped on GoT, outside of a few vacations. He definitely cleaned up before his True West run, the before and after pics are telling. This is probably his first opportunity to take a full 30 days to devote himself to getting well. He spoke about going to therapy in recent interviews and as I said, its all tied together. Sometimes you need some "psychological coaching" to be able to stop the booze and drugs if that's all you've ever relied on as a coping mechanism. These things take time.

People keep mentioning the incident when he was kicked out of a bar in NY but that and the Paris spotting both happened just weeks after filming wrapped. The NY one was in January, a year ago, I believe, just days before the GGs.

If he missed out on Batman because of his drinking/drug issues, then that's a good thing. A huge franchise and a role like that is not what he needs, anyway. I don't think he would have pulled it off. People are relegating him to indies like it's some ghetto, but I honestly think that would be his best course of action. Do a Radcliffe and work on projects that give him an opportunity to hone his craft. His self worth has obviously taken a beating from criticism of his acting over the years. So, get away from those big roles and concentrate on something a bit grittier and relevant to everyday emotions. I'd love to see him take that route and come back strong. To me, he seems like he has a lot of untapped potential that no director has fully utilized yet. He is great in action sequencdes, but he doesn't have the glib persona to become a modern day action star. I think he has good comic timing. There's lot of roles he could take on. I'd love to see him in a Wes Anderson film.

Because IMO, I would not be surprised if the poor guy was desperately in need of help and David Benioff and DB WEiss were talking him out of it until they got passed the premiere, etc. He didn't do a lot of appearances but he did do some, and he had the SNL gig, so IMO they really wanted to keep his mental health issues under wraps until the show aired. The people in charge can make an actor's life hell on earth.

You can't blame Kit for Jon Snow. Blame D.B.Weiss and David Benioff for the character they wrote, and the directors for the broody Jon Snow. He's been very well reviewed for his stage work. He just needs to move away from the intense sort of outsider/loner roles and show some range.

Though I actually think that is better than going to the Tom Cruise movie route of trying to pretend the person is taller than they are. Jon Snow was a short guy who was a badass action star, that's progress.

Kit comes from money as well so financially he shouldn’t have to worry. The spy movie was bad but I think it had more to do with the storyline being boring. Like another poster said, he should do some acting workshops for the next year and then find a part in an indie or Netflix series.

He's said that he struggled with the amount of attention that was suddenly foisted on him after he was killed off in the show and people wouldn't leave him alone. He also said he felt very unsafe at the time and finally turned to therapy. And yes, while his drunken antics have garnered plenty of press, this clinic isn't just another rehab for alcoholics. It is supposed to be an excellent facility that focuses on CBT (unfortunately, not cock and ball torture). Have you ever watched some of his interviews when he talks about his phobias and superstitions? The dude is OCD as hell. Watch him on his recent appearance of the Graham Norton Show. Paul Rudd has to point it out. Kit said he woke up in the middle of the night having a genuine panic attack because he feared they'd messed up the end of the show. That's pretty telling. His camp has said he was admitted for anxiety issues. Well that sounds like the truth. I had no idea how severe OCD can affect people and how it makes them susceptible to drug and alcohol dependence but they often go hand in hand. He's probably being treated for both because alcohol and drugs are how he's been self medicating to mask his anxiety for years now.
