Rod Stewart reveals he would 'love' his own biopic

Overrated bottle blond.

He's not even hot anymore, the one thing he had going for him. Just stay home and soak your dentures, irrelevant old man.

I really like Rod Stewart - he had fun music and he has a great personality. But, outside of a string of model girlfriends and wives, what 'stresses' did he have? What drama for a film?
I think the Elton and Freddie Mercury pics have weight because they discuss how alienating and dangerous it was to be gay. What story or insight could his biopic offer?

Title: Rod Stewart - 'Stomach Full of Semen'
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 25, 2019 7:17 PM |
Rod Stewart talks anal cocaine abuse, ingesting semen and losing his virginity

That might work. Any guesses on who could play him? Tom Hardy would need prosthetics. Who has that nose?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 25, 2019 7:19 PM |
Domhnall Gleeson

I don’t know if his music “holds up” well enough. Maybe he can do a made for TV biopic something. Maybe for BBC?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 25, 2019 7:31 PM |
Rod Stewart is not iconic enough in America they should make a television movie for a U.K. audience

Zzzzz...

He was pretty iconic in the 70s. The weirdest sex symbol I ever knew. Girls loved him and I thought he was so ugly. But some great music. And then.... oy.

They'd have to do it like a "Lenny", though. With all his hot former girlfriends and wives talking to an interviewer about him. His kids too. (Actors playing them, of course).

Enough for me to enjoy the music these guys made, I’m not interested in their life stories at all.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 25, 2019 8:19 PM |
God, I can't stand his voice.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 25, 2019 10:17 PM |
Why don't they just call this genre "a money printing press for a mediocre 1970s catalog made into a shit film with a closeted homo playing the lead"?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 3, 2020 10:52 PM |
I never thought he was hot, I hate his music, and his life sounds like a cliche of sex, drugs, rock and roll.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 3, 2020 10:53 PM |
This is a man who ripped off Karen Carpenter.

Rod's had quite a career. He started out as the singer for The Faces and then became a solo star in the 70s who seamlessly transitioned to pop success in the 80s. After falling out of fashion in the 90s, his 2000s "songbook" albums were big sellers. Throughout it all, he's maintained his loveable "bon vivant" persona.
Although I'm a fan, I'd probably skip his bio pic just like I skipped the Elton bio pic. I thought that the Queen movie was boring. But at least they're not more super hero movies so they have that going for them.

Rod's so affable and upbeat like Kurt Russell, there's really not a lot to bring him down. He's so jolly but I don't see why we couldn't see him actually enjoy his success.
It would be interesting to see what it was like to have fun as a rock star, at the expense of family ties. To see your grown children's drug addiction's and blame yourself. To have your heart broken by a young New Zealand model.

"He was a joke with the Do you think I'm sexy song?"
To answer your question: No, considering the song was #1 in the US and the UK and the single sold more than 2 million copies in the US alone. If that's considered a joke, I'm sure Rod is the one laughing the hardest.
I recall an interview of a classic rock vocalist--I think it might have been Roger Daltrey or certainly one of his peers--who said something like, "I can't listen to my records. I hate the sound of my own voice. Every vocalist that I know hates the sound of their own voice......except one. Rod Stewart. Rod loves the sound of his own voice. But he's the only one."

Who’s next from that era to get a jukebox biopic? Barry Manilow, Roger Whittaker, Leo Sayer, and Gilbert O’Sullivan all come to mind. Gordon Lightfoot would be good from a Canadian perspective. A Cliff Richard one could be fascinating, but only after he’s dead and the stories about the enigma of his sexuality can come out.

Does Rod write songs? Or does he hire people to write for him?
Queen's movie was good. Freddie faced racism and homophobia and was the most talented singer in rock; and the band wrote a collection of great songs.
Elton John's movie was good, too. He recognized his musical gift at a very early age, but it was almost wasted by his selfish, uncaring mother. Even after he earned everything he could hope for, he still struggled with his sexuality. Watching the movie, I enjoyed seeing the life events that inspired his beautiful piano melodies.
WTF does Rod have to offer? Who wants to watch a movie about some guy with questionable talent who skated by on his (and his girlfriends') looks, eventually dating women half his age? No, thanks. I want to get away from that story, not pay to watch it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 3, 2020 11:27 PM |
Ugh, get that mole burnt off. It's so damn distracting.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 3, 2020 11:42 PM |
Yes, I personally LOVE the song Do you think I'm sexy, and I had no idea he had hurt feelings about being lampooned in a sketch.
I saw a documentary that said he refused to perform that song for awhile. He didn't like the sketch or being thought of as a joke.

Rod recorded a lot of trash, but Every Picture Tells a Story is 1000% more amazing and impressive than any record Elton John ever released (and Rod wrote the best songs on it, including Maggie May).

That album is one of my favorites.

Before his biopic there should be a David Bowie biopic.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 4, 2020 12:08 AM |
We should call it Stomach Pump Of Love.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 4, 2020 12:16 AM |
Is Rod Stewart’s story even interesting enough for a bio? Didn’t Elton John drink Stewart’s cum and then get his stomach pumped?
