Exhibit A: Lily Collins (they are still trying tho)
Overhyped ingenues who failed at achieving success, despite the Hollywood machine's best efforts to turn them into STAHS

Kate Bosworth. Utterly generic.

Lilly Collins is still a wait and see. I would say Julia Ormond - but that was 20 years ago.

Rita Ora, Bella Thorne, Cara Delavigne

Camilla Belle was hyped as the next big thing a few years back. Major movies, celebrity boyfriends, fragrance campaigns. She’s all but vanished now.

Alicia Vikander owns this thread. As does Rooney mara.

I don't think J-Law qualifies.

Agree with Collins. She's in everything. Can't stand her

Lily Collins is the worst, a friend of mine made me watch her in "Love, Rosie"...her acting was pathetic and she was badly miscast as a working class british teen mom. She was a maid in some hotel and you could tell she's never wiped anything but her own butt. She's also very twee and it didn't seem to fit the character at all.
Some really good choices here, many are favorites of fashion magazines. I couldn't tell you one Kate Bosworth film but I see her a lot on the sites and accounts of fashion titles. Rooney Mara has happened in the sphere of Oscar bait but her lack of charisma and modest talent will not get her further than her family connections already did.
JLaw is still a big stah, it's the pictures that got smallah...or that's what she tells her liquor bottle as she drunkenly falls off her chair. She did get very far but her whole persona was tiring, made some really bad career choices and has been miscast in mediocre films many times, "Mother" is the perfect example.

Lily is getting too long in the tooth for the ingenue parts, and her raging anorexia won't help her looks either

She still gets invited to swank events. I don't know how, but she does.

For an It Girl who never went anywhere, Sienna Miller has a more impressive list of films than you’d expect, and she’s been pretty good in them. It’s not like she’s been reduced to a third-string Hulu series or a basic cable procedural. Her problem is that she’s so indistinct that every time I see her, I think “She’s good! Who is that? Oh, that’s right, Sienna Miller.”

Many of these it girls, when the roles dry up, parlay their acting careers into being celebrity guests at swank events, and are handsomely payed for it.

Alicia Silverstone

Sienna Miller is an example of an it-girl sustaining a career for years on barely any hits; I’d say that’s an accomplishment. She probably has a couple more plays to sustain her career too (tv, playing wife to fading stars, or doing more UK films). I used to get her confused with Sienna Guillory (who was kind of a low rent version of her and a minor it girl for a year or two).

Chloe Moretz Grace

I don't think Sienna Miller belongs on this list.

Oops, Chloe Grace Moretz

Madeleine Stowe FINALLY got a hit series at 50+ ... but she was in movies for DECADES while I was thinking, “Why do they keep foisting her on us? She’s not gonna suddenly ‘happen’!”

Neve Campbell

Kate Bosworth has negative charisma. [italic]21[/italic] might've been an OK movie if they'd cast an actress who didn't suck the life out of every scene.

Is Kate Bosworth related to someone important? That's the only reason I can understand her mid aughties success.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 26, 2019 6:02 PM |
Madolyn Smith. She was supposed to be The Hot One after URBAN COWBOY...then some network TV movies, then what?

Paltrow

I always got Madolyn Smith confused with Madeleine Stowe
