She is no beauty. She looks so hard that it actually makes her look mean.

When Ebola came back a few years ago I was excited to see that “The Hot Zone” was going to be made by Ridley Scott. It’s such a good book and I think an important one.

Four years later Scott is just a producer, it’s made for tv and the biggest star they could get was Margulies.....🙄 why make it all? I guess it’s getting the B list treatment since Ebola isn’t “hot” anymore.

Someone mentioned 2002's Ghost Ship on the horror thread so I had a look at it. She was attractive enough then. There are some handsome young guys in that movie, as well as Gabriel Byrne still looking FINE.

She is very talented and he is totally hot. Her life must be pretty good. And the criticisms of her looks and supposed “work” smacks of jealousy.

I'm a guy and not jealous of Julianna and don't mind her surgery. I get a kick out of plastic surgery, in fact. It's a puzzle for the eye. I suspect Keith has done something to his face, as well. Something about the chin. I think they are attractive and said so.

I just remember her as a humorless cunt when she did a morning radio show interview to promote Snakes on a Plane. Not a fan after that.

I have always thought there was something off about this couple. How smart is he, really? The offspring of bigshot professors easily get into elite schools without having to meeting the same standards as the rest of us plebs. I know far too many people like this not to question. Julianna is also notoriously difficult to get along with and flat out mean. No-one can work with her, no-one likes her. How does he manage to stay married to her? Why wouldn't he be with someone smarter, better-looking, younger? Something just doesn't make sense.

I would think that R27, but I've never heard anything of that sort, not even rumors.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. Because they’re both JEWISH and from upperclass society (she is the daughter of a Jewish marketing exec, he’s the son of a Jewish academic). Trust me: in Jewish high society circles in New York that can be a very significant factor in selecting a husband / wife.

Margulies is of Russian- and Romanian-Jewish heritage, her parents even lived in Israel. Lieberthal is Jewish too. His parents were probably very pleased that he found himself “The Good (Jewish) Wife”.

Here is how she describes finding out that he was Jewish like her (it was clearly a very important deal clincher for them):

I didn't know all that R38, and you're right, it would explain why they are together. I have friends in Jewish high society circles in NYC (from college), so I get it. I didn't know Margulies was Jewish though, so cultural and religious reasons never occurred to me.
