James Earl Jones & Estelle Parsons Abducted By Aliens In "The UFO Incident"

They played Barney and Betty Hill, an American couple who claimed they were abducted by extraterrestrials in a rural portion of the state of New Hampshire.

How could they play these parts with a straight face?

It was a paycheck. Long before Jones became famous for better things. Parsons grabbed for crumbs wherever she could.

It's actually an extremely well-done TV movie, eerie and disturbing, and both are excellent in it.

I worked with a woman who knew Betty Hill. I asked her if she believed her and she said Betty certainly believed it happened.

Aliens stuck a prob into Jones and stretched his vocal cord.

by Anonymousreply 4May 19, 2019 1:05 AM

Right before the incident they stopped at a cafe. I suspect someone dosed them with LSD out of spite.

These are two actors that members of the Actors Studio, using sense memory and The Stanislavski Method of acting.

How do they use those techniques to play people abducted by Aliens!

by Anonymousreply 6May 19, 2019 1:08 AM

I think they truly believed this happened.

Was this as big as Star Wars?

by Anonymousreply 11May 19, 2019 1:44 AM

Less James Earl Jones, more James Girl Jones!

by Anonymousreply 12May 19, 2019 1:48 AM

OP, in that photo, which one is supposed to be Estelle Parsons?

by Anonymousreply 13May 19, 2019 2:54 AM

It needs a Blu Ray release.

I concur, R2. Both Jones' and Parsons' performances are intense, particularly during their memory regression sessions. They should both have received an Emmy, or at least a nomination.

by Anonymousreply 15May 19, 2019 3:01 AM

R2 I thought so too. As mentioned above, I thought both actors gave it their all.

playing a character abducted by a UFO is not Shakespeare

Bawny!

by Anonymousreply 19May 20, 2019 7:14 PM

It was a riveting movie. Parsons and Jones were extremely believable.

by Anonymousreply 20May 20, 2019 7:21 PM

I remember my whole family reading about this in Life or Look magazine. It blew our minds.

by Anonymousreply 21May 20, 2019 7:34 PM

Controversial at the time, of course, because it was an interracial couple.

by Anonymousreply 22May 20, 2019 7:37 PM

I don’t think OP understands how acting works...

by Anonymousreply 23May 21, 2019 3:13 PM

- I guess if they’re abducted by aliens, ya kinda have to overlook the whole mixed race thing.

- Y-y-yup.

by Anonymousreply 24May 21, 2019 3:31 PM

Tell me about it, OP! Today's actors are so above such things!
