Let's be real here. There isn't a man on DL who wouldn't empty his bank accounts to look anywhere 1/10th as good as Shemar does at 50. That being said, he doesn't exude much sexual heat. Body language, use of eyes, a certain way of carrying the body that say, " I'm able to do a lot of things with this body - and I'm gonna show you" - these things contribute to that sultry, animal magnetism we look for in any male star we would describe as sexy - going all the way back to Clark Gable. Yes fewer people are getting married than in the 1950s, but it isn't significant enough that it's not the default expectation of most in society. People will still ask questions if a man in his late thirties, and especially forties, has never been married. Even the most well-meaning and clueless will start 'feeling sorry' for them and thinking of setting them up on dates. A man being unpartnered and childless after 35 is far from being considered the normal.

The best thing for him to have done would have been to ignore them...speaking about it only makes them more curious. But he knew what he signed up for.
