Yeah, I think most people were simply in agreement that things this past week were open to interpretation- whatever it is one wanted to believe they technically could since we know nothing. Saw this about Blood on the Tracks in an article dated April 24. I didn't realize that Luca is working on it with the same producer of CMBYN or that they're already in pre-production:

Getting back to Timmy, or more specifically the next big project, Dune. I've just finished reading the first book again. The first time I read it... it was a long, long, long time ago.

And I'm now more convinced than ever, that the movie is not going to be a box office success. I don't think the story is going to be a crowd pleaser. I'm not saying the movie is going to be bad! On the contrary! I think with Denis Villeneuve it's going to be amazing, but the general audience is oversaturated with big blockbuster special effect movies. A giant worm is not going to "wow" anyone anymore.

I conducted a little experiment with a bunch of my friends. Moviegoers, but not on a scale like I am. They watch Marvel movies and some stuff I drag them into. I described the plot in 2 - 3 sentences to them. (General crowd pleaser box office success) And the reaction was meh... I think the trailers have to be mind-blowing to get the general audience interested. And re-reading the first book... there is not much spectacle. It's a lot of exposition. Also, there is not much variety in settings. You have the desert and... that's it.

Multiple times while I was reading the book, I thought to myself "This is unfilmable." I could be wrong. Of course! I don't think it's going to be a Mortal Engines situation, but I think we have another Blade Runner 2049 on our hands. Critics and a specific audience will love it, but the general audience will go, "Eh... Catch it on Netflix. I'll wait for the next Marvel spectacle."

There are a lot of actors who’ve had long careers who alternate between big budget stuff and small indies/theatre. The Brits are champs at this - McKellen, Firth, Patrick Stewart etc. Plus his hero Joaquin Phoenix to an extent. I suspect Timothée will go this route especially as he gets to his thirties and maybe gets married and/or starts a family.

Seth Rogen's and Charlize Theron's movie that opened this weekend is a giant bomb. ryan gosling movies are almost always box office failures. Except for La La Land. Sure, Chris Evans as Captain America will make money. Chris Hemsworth as Thor will make money! Christian Bale as Batman will make money. But look at the box office results of their other movies. or look at The Mummy with Tom Cruise. big budget summer blockbuster with a movie star... BOMB! You can't really predict this stuff anymore. Maybe there is no Feyd in the first movie, Stellan said he only has two weeks of filming and he is the main villain, so maybe they will not include Feyd in the first part since his story would not be that important anyway and leave him for the second movie.
