Very cute. Very gay. And very cute.

All the best of the 1960's in five minutes.

Who exactly were the dancers featured every week. I was fascinated by them growing up.

Bravo, OP, bravo! That was top drawer from the beginning with Carol Burnett, who I would guess is wearing Bob Mackie? Then straight through Gwen Verdon's song and dance sequence.
I really, really loved this.
Thank you so much.
Oddly enough, Gwen began to remind me of Ruth Gordon, their voices share a similarity.
Anyway, all hail Gwen Verdon!

Yep, puts a smile on your face.

Mr. Lee Roy Reams is one of the dancers. Gwen did these things between ‘legitimate’ gigs and Mr. Fosse spent time in rehearsal rooms choreographing them for his pissed off fucked over wife.
Sorry for the reality check, kids!

What do you suppose Gwen's age was in this video? 50's?
She is so light on her feet, it's just impressive.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 27, 2019 7:47 PM |
Designed by Dr. Seuss, obviously.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 27, 2019 7:53 PM |
I presume Beyoncé hasn't seen this yet, or she'd have already stolen the moves.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 27, 2019 8:13 PM |
It is very Dr. Seuss, r9, I'm glad you said that.
Such a delight to see Gwen Verdon in something new to me. Thanks.

I loved her in Damn Yankees, simply stellar.
Looking for a site that will stream....

OP, your post deserves more views.
This is your Bump.

R8 Based on the fact that it was Carol's first season Gwen is around 42 here.

Those were the Ernie Flatt Dancers. There was one with a beard I was madly in love with as a kid. I can't tell if he's in this because the resolution is so awful.

Everything in this clip is FABULOUS!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 28, 2019 4:23 AM |
Except the choreography. I hope this was not Fosse.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 28, 2019 4:24 AM |
Ooooo, I was thinking the same thing, R17. Nothing about it fits for Fosse. And with Ernie Flatt already on the payroll, why pay for Fosse?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 28, 2019 11:57 AM |
One of the dancers looks like Bill Hader! The one who wags his finger.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 28, 2019 1:05 PM |
This is amazing!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 28, 2019 11:25 PM |
Thanks for sharing this amazing clip.
It makes me really nostalgic for the time when stuff like this was regularly featured on prime time television. I miss the prime time variety format
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 29, 2019 12:11 AM |
Well that's five minutes of pure 60s fabulosity!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 29, 2019 11:06 AM |
While Googling Ernie Flatt Dancers, I found this old DL thread. Actually, it was the first to show up.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 29, 2019 11:10 AM |
Whoever Carol's handsome bearded dancer was, he gets at least one lustful mention every time the Flatt dancers are brought up.

Who Is The Bearded Dancer?
A nine part series by Miss Ryan Murphy, coming soon to a fourth tier cable channel near you

2 years later Gwen did Mexican Breakfast on The Ed Sullivan Show. Does she seem a bit heavier here?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 29, 2019 12:43 PM |
No. She's wearing white. And who knows what is going on with the video recording or the lenses used during the recording of the dance.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 29, 2019 12:50 PM |
The dancer who resembles Bill Hader is, I think, Don Crichton (sp), who was the lead dancer for the Ernie Flatt Dancers. And when was Lee Roy Reams ever an Ernie Flatt Dancer? Did he leave this show to go to Broadway?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 29, 2019 12:58 PM |
So, how do we get permission to see the video at R26?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 29, 2019 1:11 PM |
^ that's what I wanna know
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 29, 2019 1:16 PM |
What a kitschy mess.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 29, 2019 1:58 PM |
Well, R32, that was the '60s.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 29, 2019 2:01 PM |
It's like watching your grandmother trying to "get down with the kidz."
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 29, 2019 2:45 PM |
r30 If you want to watch the video, you have to pay Vimeo.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 29, 2019 9:08 PM |
Here's a YouTube version of Mexican Breakfast. Blurring but better than paying for it.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 29, 2019 11:14 PM |
Oh the music has been changed.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 29, 2019 11:15 PM |
Thanks for posting this, OP! What a trip. My god, I had no idea how similar Gwen Vernon and Ann Reinking are! Their voices could be interchangeable.
It may not be Fosse, but I do love the Fosse-esque touches. Damn, his choreography was fun.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 30, 2019 12:31 AM |
Yeah, Fosse had a vision.
